RoboForm is a password manager for individuals, families, and businesses, combining password storage and autofill with form filling, a password generator, passkey management, password auditing, and a built-in TOTP authenticator. Its Free plan is limited to one device, while paid personal plans add multi-device use or multiple accounts. RoboForm describes its encryption as a zero-knowledge design, but that is the company’s security claim—not an independent guarantee. The prices below are amounts displayed on RoboForm’s pages and may change.
What RoboForm does
RoboForm’s published feature set goes beyond saving and autofilling passwords. Its personal plans page lists password storage, form filling, password generation, offline access, password auditing, import and export, password change history, passkey management, bookmarks, SafeNotes, and Windows application logins. Other listed features include two-factor authentication options, an integrated TOTP authenticator, Passwordless Unlock, cloud backup, breach monitoring, Emergency Access, sharing, and local-only mode. Check the live comparison table to confirm which plan includes each feature: the page presents repeated feature lists, and not every plan boundary can be safely inferred from the list alone (RoboForm personal plans and pricing).
RoboForm describes Premium as supporting one-click logins, access across devices, backup, Passwordless Unlock using a passkey, and breach monitoring for up to five email addresses. The company lists support for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Linux, and Chrome OS, plus extensions for major browsers. These are RoboForm’s published compatibility claims; check the current compatibility details for supported versions before choosing it for a particular device (RoboForm Premium).

Free or Premium
The practical dividing line is device use: RoboForm presents Free as a one-device plan and Premium as the option for access across devices. If you need passwords on both a computer and a phone, verify the current plan comparison rather than assuming that a feature listed on the page is included in Free.
Premium or Family
Family is described as up to five Premium accounts with unified billing. It may fit a household that wants multiple individual accounts, but whether it costs less than separate subscriptions depends on the current prices and the number of people who need an account. Compare the live totals rather than assuming a saving.

Business or Enterprise
RoboForm’s business offering lists a central admin center, separate personal and work vaults, secure sharing, SSO, SCIM provisioning, security policies, role-based controls, reporting, and audit features. Enterprise is presented for larger environments with tailored pricing and additional onboarding, support, SLA, and self-hosting options. Organizations should assess administration and deployment needs separately from consumer-plan features (RoboForm Business).

How RoboForm describes its security
RoboForm says it uses AES-256 encryption and PBKDF2-SHA256, with the Master Password used to encrypt and decrypt data. The company describes this as a zero-knowledge design and states: “All decryption happens on your device and not on our servers.” These are descriptions published by RoboForm, not independent verification that an account or device cannot be compromised (RoboForm Security).

RoboForm’s security page also says the product has undergone third-party testing by Secfault Security. The page does not establish the report’s date, scope, or findings here, so that statement should not be treated as a certification or as proof of a particular security outcome.
Master Password and recovery
In its Business User Account Security help article, RoboForm says the Master Password is the key used to encrypt and decrypt data, that RoboForm does not know it, and that the company cannot recover it if lost. This is specifically described in business-account documentation; do not assume every consumer recovery detail is identical without checking the relevant consumer guidance. In any case, account recovery options should not be mistaken for recovery of the Master Password itself (Business User Account Security).

Two-factor authentication
RoboForm lists passkeys, trusted devices, hardware security keys, email, SMS, and TOTP apps among its two-factor options. A physical FIDO2 security key is optional, not a requirement; confirm that a key is compatible with RoboForm before buying one (RoboForm Security).

Emergency Access lets a user designate a trusted contact and set a waiting period before that person can access account data. RoboForm’s support article says granting Emergency Access requires active Premium. This feature is intended for continuity, but it involves a deliberate trade-off: a trusted contact may gain access if the configured conditions are met. Review the setup and waiting-period behavior before relying on it (RoboForm Emergency Access help).
