Riven Slivers and Riven Mods are not two versions of the same item. A Riven Sliver is a fragment resource used in a Palladino exchange, while a Riven Mod is the complete, weapon-specific mod you can equip and roll. Digital Extremes’ archived Empyrean notes documented an exchange of 10 Slivers for one Riven, limited to one Riven per week in that version of the offering. Because Palladino’s inventory and drop sources can change, treat that ratio as a documented historical mechanic and verify the live vendor in your game.
The short answer: fragment versus finished mod
A Riven Sliver is an inventory resource. It does not attach to a weapon, provide statistics, or occupy a mod slot. Digital Extremes’ in-game description calls it “A fragment of a sundered Riven” and says that enough Slivers let Palladino reforge a complete Riven. The wording is reproduced in the official The Old Blood: Update 26.0.6 notes.
A Riven Mod is the finished item created by that process or obtained through other reward routes. It is a weapon-specific mod with randomized properties and a rollable disposition system, as described in the community reference for Riven Mods. You can work with a Riven Mod in the Mod interface; you cannot do that with a Sliver.
That distinction answers the practical questions most players have:

- What do Slivers do? They serve as material for a Palladino exchange and may also be accepted for other weekly offerings when the current vendor lists them.
- How many Slivers make a Riven? The archived Empyrean offering required 10 Slivers for one Riven.
- Can Slivers be equipped? No. They are a resource, not a weapon mod.
- Where is the exchange? Palladino is associated with Iron Wake after the Chains of Harrow quest, but the live inventory and limits must be checked in game.
How the names map to your inventory
The shared word “Riven” describes the relationship between the items, not their function. A Sliver is the remnant used as an input to a vendor transaction. A Riven Mod is the output that appears in your Mods collection and can be inspected, unveiled or otherwise handled under the game’s current Riven rules.
Ten Slivers sitting in your inventory do not automatically transform into a mod when you reach the threshold. The archived instruction required you to visit Palladino and choose the listed exchange. If the offer is absent, rotated, locked behind progression or already claimed for the week, your Slivers remain a resource until a qualifying offering is available. The item count alone is not proof that a Riven is waiting in your Mods screen.
Likewise, receiving a Riven does not consume every Sliver you own. The documented price applies to the selected transaction. Check the quantity displayed by the live interface before confirming, especially when several Sliver-related rewards appear together.

What Riven Slivers actually do
They are a resource for a vendor transaction
The Sliver has no combat effect. Picking one up increases a resource count in your inventory; it does not create a hidden mod, improve a weapon, or add a stat to an existing Riven. Its relevant value is that Palladino can accept a specified quantity in exchange for a reward.
In Digital Extremes’ archived Empyrean: Update 27 notes, the vendor instruction reads: “Introduced in Update 26: The Old Blood, bring 10 of these to Palladino for a Riven! Limited to 1 Riven per week.” That sentence describes the offering documented at the time. It is not a promise that the same quantity, reward or cap is unchanged in the current build.
They are not an unfinished Riven Mod
The word “Riven” appears in both item names because the Sliver is lore-wise a fragment of a sundered Riven. Mechanically, however, the two objects live in different categories. A Sliver cannot be unveiled, rerolled, transmuted, sold as a mod or placed in a weapon’s mod configuration. Those actions apply to the complete Riven Mod after you receive one and satisfy whatever current game requirements apply.

They can have more than one weekly use
Palladino’s offerings are not limited to the Riven exchange. Digital Extremes’ 2022 Hotfix 31.5.2 notes documented an expanded weekly selection that included an additional Veiled Riven, a Kuva bundle and a Credits bundle, with offerings resetting weekly. This establishes that Slivers can compete for several rewards rather than being permanently reserved for a single purchase. It does not establish the vendor’s live 2026 stock.
A Sliver is not a substitute currency for every Riven feature
Slivers are specifically relevant when a current vendor entry asks for them. They are not described as a replacement for the resources, requirements or interface actions associated with unveiling or rerolling a Riven Mod. If your goal is to change a Riven’s attributes, first obtain and inspect the complete mod; holding additional Slivers does not unlock those Mod-screen actions.
What a Riven Mod is
A complete, weapon-specific mod
A Riven Mod is the usable object in the pair. Rivens are tied to a weapon family or weapon, and the mod’s displayed attributes affect that weapon when installed. The exact number and type of attributes, the weapon’s disposition and the rules for unveiling or rerolling depend on the current game systems. The WARFRAME Wiki Riven Mods reference is a useful secondary explanation of those mechanics, but the game client is the authority for the Riven you actually own.
When a vendor grants a Riven, inspect the item rather than assuming it is already suitable for your loadout. The weapon designation, displayed attributes and unveiling state determine what you can do next. Those details are properties of the completed mod, not of the Slivers that paid for it.
One exchange does not guarantee a particular weapon or roll
The archived wording says Palladino provides “a Riven,” not a named weapon, a specific stat combination or a guaranteed unveiled result. Therefore, exchanging Slivers should be understood as a way to obtain a Riven reward, not as a way to target a particular weapon or perfect stat profile. The value of a received Riven depends on its weapon, attributes, disposition, unveiling state and your own build goals.
Do not confuse a Riven from Palladino with a quest reward
The official Chains of Harrow FAQ discusses a Melee Riven as a quest reward condition. That is a separate reward path from handing Slivers to Palladino. Completing or revisiting the quest does not, by itself, prove that you have made the Sliver exchange, and the quest FAQ does not define the 10-for-one vendor terms.

How the documented Palladino exchange worked
- Obtain at least 10 Riven Slivers. The archived Update 27 wording specifies ten for the Riven offering.
- Reach Palladino at Iron Wake. Palladino’s location and her connection to Iron Wake after Chains of Harrow are corroborated by the Palladino reference and the official support FAQ. Your access may depend on current quest and progression requirements.
- Open the vendor’s current offering list. Look for the entry that accepts Riven Slivers. Do not assume that an old menu layout, price or reward is still present.
- Check the cost and reset information shown in the live interface. In the archived offering, the cost was 10 Slivers and the limit was one Riven per week. If the client displays different terms, use those current terms.
- Compare all listed rewards before buying. The 2022 hotfix shows why this matters: Palladino’s weekly selection could include another Veiled Riven, Kuva and Credits bundles. A Sliver spent on one entry may not be available for another entry until you collect more.
- Confirm the purchase. The Slivers are consumed and the listed reward is added to your account. Review the resulting Riven in the Mods screen rather than expecting a Sliver-like resource to change.
If the exchange is missing, first check that you are speaking to the correct vendor instance at Iron Wake and that your account has completed the required progression. Then inspect every current offering and its reset timer. A missing item can reflect a changed rotation, a weekly purchase already used, a quest gate or a later update—not necessarily a failed pickup.
Where Riven Slivers come from
Requiem Relics in the original introduction
The Old Blood update material introduced Riven Slivers as a Requiem Relic reward context. The official description and that context appear in Digital Extremes’ Update 26.0.6 notes. This tells you how the item entered the game, but it does not mean every present-day Relic has the same reward table.
Eximus units in later notes
Digital Extremes’ Veilbreaker: Update 32 notes documented Riven Sliver drops from Eximus units at level 30 or above. Those notes recorded a change to a 2% chance for both Steel Path Eximus and regular Eximus in that update. The figure is historical and patch-specific; it should not be presented as a guaranteed current drop rate. Enemy level, mission type, Steel Path status and later loot-table changes can all affect what you see now.

Patch notes are snapshots. A rate written for Update 32 may be superseded by a hotfix or a later major update, and a source that was valid for one platform or build may not describe another build’s current table. Before spending time on a farm, inspect the current in-game drop information or the latest official drop-table documentation. Use the 2% figure only to understand what the archived change said, not to calculate a present-day expected haul.
A simple timeline of the mechanic
- The Old Blood, Update 26.0.6: Digital Extremes presented the Sliver description and identified Requiem Relics as an introduction context.
- Empyrean, Update 27: The archived notes described bringing 10 Slivers to Palladino for a Riven, with a one-Riven-per-week limit in that offering.
- Hotfix 31.5.2 in 2022: Palladino’s weekly selection was documented as having an additional Veiled Riven, Kuva and Credits bundles, all resetting weekly.
- Veilbreaker, Update 32: The notes documented Sliver chances from level-30-or-higher Eximus units and recorded a 2% chance for regular and Steel Path Eximus in that update.
The sequence explains why older guides can disagree. They may be accurately quoting different versions of the vendor or loot table. Use the update label attached to a claim, then compare it with the current game.
How to decide what to do with your Slivers
If you want any Riven reward
Save enough Slivers for the Riven entry shown by Palladino, then compare it with the vendor’s other current offerings. The archived 10-Sliver exchange and one-per-week cap make Slivers a time-gated resource in that version, so spending them immediately was not always optimal if another listed reward addressed a more urgent need.

If you need a particular weapon’s Riven
Do not assume Palladino’s exchange targets your weapon. The documented text promises a Riven but does not name the weapon or its attributes. Decide whether you are willing to accept a random result before spending the Slivers. If your goal is a specific weapon, use the current game’s available Riven acquisition and trading systems rather than treating the vendor exchange as a targeted purchase.

Read the labels carefully. A listing for an additional Veiled Riven is not the same statement as a guaranteed unveiled Riven for a chosen weapon. Likewise, a Kuva or Credits bundle serves a different purpose from adding another mod to your collection. The right choice depends on the current prices, your weekly purchase status and what the client says each entry contains.
If you are still learning the Riven system
Keep the distinction simple: Slivers are the input; the Riven Mod is the output. You can safely hold Slivers while you learn unveiling, Kuva costs, weapon eligibility and mod capacity. Owning Slivers does not obligate you to spend them, and spending them does not guarantee a build-ready mod.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Trying to install a Sliver. It is not listed as an equippable mod because it is a resource. Use it at a qualifying vendor offering instead.
- Assuming every 10 Slivers automatically becomes a Riven. The exchange requires the vendor to list that offer, and archived notes do not guarantee the current rotation or limit.
- Using the old one-per-week cap as a current rule. The cap belongs to the archived Update 27 offering. Check Palladino’s live timer and purchase status.
- Confusing the Chains of Harrow Melee Riven with the Sliver exchange. The support FAQ addresses a quest reward; it is not evidence that the quest supplies or consumes Slivers.
- Planning a farm around the archived 2% Eximus chance. That percentage came from Update 32 notes and may no longer match the live drop table.
- Expecting a perfect Riven. A Riven reward does not, in the documented wording, promise a chosen weapon, unveiled state or desirable attributes.
- Ignoring competing weekly rewards. The 2022 hotfix documented additional Veiled Riven, Kuva and Credits options. Read the full current list before committing your Slivers.
- Checking only your resource total. A sufficient balance does not reveal whether you already bought the weekly entry, whether the offer rotated or whether a progression requirement is incomplete. Read the vendor status itself.
A practical checklist before you trade
- Open your inventory and confirm the number of Riven Slivers you actually have.
- Travel to Iron Wake and verify that Palladino is available on your account.
- Read the current item description, cost, reward and reset timer in the vendor interface.
- Compare the Riven listing with every other Sliver-related weekly offering.
- Confirm that you have not already used the relevant weekly purchase.
- Check whether the reward is described as a Riven or a Veiled Riven; those labels do not promise the same state.
- Only then accept the exchange and inspect the resulting item in the Mods screen.
What is established—and what must be checked live
The stable conceptual answer is clear: a Sliver is a fragment resource, and a Riven Mod is the complete mod. The historical mechanics are also clear: Digital Extremes documented 10 Slivers for one Riven with a one-Riven-per-week limit in the archived Empyrean notes, documented Eximus sources and a 2% chance in the cited Update 32 notes, and documented additional weekly Palladino offerings in Hotfix 31.5.2.
What those archived notes cannot establish is Palladino’s exact 2026 inventory, today’s exchange price, the current weekly cap, the current Relic or Eximus drop rates, or whether a later update changed access requirements. Those details belong to the live game and its latest official tables. Treat the vendor screen and current drop information as authoritative whenever they differ from an old patch note.
Bottom line
Keep the two items conceptually separate: Riven Slivers are the fragments you collect and spend, while a Riven Mod is the completed, weapon-specific reward. The well-known 10-Sliver-for-one-Riven, one-per-week exchange is an archived Digital Extremes mechanic, not a guaranteed 2026 promise. Visit Palladino at Iron Wake, read the current offering and reset timer, and verify present-day drop sources before farming or spending your Slivers.
