Seekers of the Storm is downloadable content for Risk of Rain 2, and the base game is required. On Steam, one person in a multiplayer lobby must own the expansion to enable it for that lobby; players who do not own it cannot select its new survivors or permanently unlock its new content.
Does Seekers of the Storm require Risk of Rain 2?
Yes. The Steam product listing identifies Seekers of the Storm as downloadable content and says the base game is required. Steam lists the expansion’s release date as August 27, 2024. See the Steam listing for the current store details.

Do I need to own the DLC to play multiplayer with friends?
Not necessarily. According to the Steam listing, one lobby member’s ownership enables the expansion for the whole lobby. A player who does not own it can join, but cannot select the new survivors or permanently unlock the expansion’s new items, logbooks, and other content.

No, under the Steam rule: one owner is enough to enable the DLC for the lobby. This is a Steam-specific statement; entitlement rules can differ by platform or storefront, so check the applicable store listing rather than assuming the same rule everywhere.

What survivors does Seekers of the Storm add?
The expansion adds three survivors: Seeker, CHEF, and False Son. The developer’s May 5, 2025 announcement said all three had been improved and rebalanced, with two additional alternate skills for each. That describes the update at that time, not a guarantee that no later balance changes have been made. Read the developer’s May 5, 2025 announcement.
What does Seeker do?
Seeker’s official description combines damage against nearby monsters with healing for teammates. It also says she can revive fallen allies after reaching a sufficiently tranquil state. The store description does not specify a numerical threshold, so it should not be treated as an exact gameplay value.

What items are in Seekers of the Storm?
The Steam listing confirms that the expansion includes new items and logbooks, but the official pages cited here do not establish a complete current item catalogue or each item’s effects. The developer’s May 2025 announcement also refers to an earlier roadmap phase involving an overhaul of DLC items. Item effects and availability should therefore be checked against notes and references that match the game version being played, rather than relying on an undated list.
What is the Path of the Colossus?
It is a progression route through the expansion’s new areas that leads to the False Son. The Steam listing names three new stages in Petrichor V’s lost regions: Helminth Hatchery, Reformed Altar, and Treeborn Colony. The product listing describes the expansion’s areas and progression route.
