RisingOS is advertised as a Debian 13 Trixie distribution with the Xfce 4.20 desktop, Spanish-language setup, and an application set aimed at Spanish-speaking and Hispano-American users. Its published minimums are a 64-bit x86 processor, two CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, and 20 GB of storage; the project recommends 4 GB of RAM. Those figures are the project’s requirements, not independent performance results.
What RisingOS is
RisingOS is a desktop Linux distribution developed by Rising Arrow. The project describes it as based on Debian 13 Trixie and using Xfce 4.20. Its official positioning emphasizes Spanish-language setup and Hispano-American users, while also addressing a broader audience. Rising Arrow’s RisingOS page presents these as the project’s own product details; a LinuxLinks overview dated August 31, 2026 describes it as developed in Argentina and aimed particularly at Latin American users.
LinuxLinks lists systemd, APT, x86_64 architecture, and a fixed-release model. That gives a broad sense of its software and release approach, but does not substitute for versioned release notes explaining the lifecycle or update policy of a particular ISO.

The project advertises Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, and VLC as included applications, alongside access to Debian software repositories and Flatpak integration. These are useful starting points for web browsing, email, office documents, and media playback, but the product page is not an independent inventory of a specific ISO. Check the current image and release information if a particular application or version is essential to your setup.
#1 Best Overall
The project site also features Rising Welcome, Rising IA, Rising Update, Rising Today, and RisingBiz. It describes some of these as forthcoming or in active development, so their presence on the site should not be taken as confirmation that every tool is included and ready to use in the current stable image.
RisingOS system requirements
The official page publishes the following minimum specifications and recommendation:
| Item | Published requirement |
|---|---|
| Architecture | x86_64 |
| Processor | Two cores |
| Memory | 2 GB RAM minimum; 4 GB recommended |
| Storage | 20 GB |
These are vendor-published figures, not a guarantee that every computer meeting them will run the desktop comfortably. The retrieved project information does not establish a supported-hardware list or independent performance results. Check the graphics, Wi-Fi, sound, and other device support that matters on your particular computer before committing to an installation.
Downloading the ISO safely
The project offers a hybrid image named RisingOS-amd64.hybrid.iso and publishes a SHA-256 checksum on its official page. A checksum can help confirm that a download matches the image the project currently publishes; it does not prove that the image is suitable for your hardware or independently certify its contents.
Rank #3
- Open the official RisingOS page and download the current ISO from the project’s download link.
- Record the SHA-256 value shown on that page at the time of download. Do not rely on a checksum copied from an older post, because it can change when the ISO is replaced.
- Calculate the downloaded file’s SHA-256 hash using a trusted local checksum utility, then compare the complete result character by character with the project’s current value.
- If the values differ, do not use that image; download it again from the project and check it once more.
The available material does not establish a complete installation walkthrough or provide versioned release notes. Consult the project’s current instructions for the exact process of writing the hybrid image to installation media and installing it on your system.
Who may find RisingOS a good fit
- Spanish-speaking users: The project explicitly emphasizes Spanish-language setup and Hispano-American users.
- People who want a familiar desktop bundle: Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, and VLC are among the applications the project says it includes.
- Users comfortable with Debian-style software access: RisingOS advertises Debian repositories, APT, and Flatpak integration.
- Owners of supported 64-bit x86 computers: The published requirements specify x86_64, but the project information retrieved here does not include a hardware compatibility matrix.
It is a less certain choice if you need documented support for a specific device, detailed release-by-release maintenance information, or verified results for performance and stability. Neither a Debian base nor repository activity alone establishes those things.

The RisingOS Linux GitHub organization lists six public repositories, including projects for builds, themes, a welcome application, AI, repositories, and the website. Its build repository was shown as updated September 6, 2026, while several related repositories were shown as updated June 2, 2026. This demonstrates visible project activity, but repository timestamps do not identify the current ISO release or establish how long it is supported.
LinuxLinks labeled RisingOS active in its August 31, 2026 overview. A third-party SourceForge listing described Debian 13 and Xfce 4.20 and reported a September 6, 2026 update. Neither the listing nor the project activity establishes an authoritative current release record. The available information also does not establish versioned release notes, independent stability testing, or a formal hardware support list.
