Ripple Prime announced on October 15, 2026, that it has launched institutional real-world-asset (RWA) perpetual swaps whose reference markets are Trade.xyz perpetual futures listed on Hyperliquid. The product covers more than 100 equity, index, exchange-traded-fund, metals, energy and foreign-exchange markets, with trading and settlement available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends. Clients receive derivative exposure rather than ownership of the referenced assets.
What Ripple Prime added
The launch is an institutional derivatives service. Ripple Prime acts as principal, so a client enters the swap directly with Ripple Prime. The swap’s economic reference is a perpetual futures contract listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid, which Ripple describes as a high-performance decentralized derivatives venue.
Perpetual swaps do not have an expiration date. The Block characterizes RWA perpetual swaps as leveraged derivative contracts that track traditional-asset reference markets. That structure can provide price exposure without transferring shares, ETF units, metals, energy products or currencies to the client.

Ripple Prime is the counterparty
Clients face Ripple Prime rather than placing a conventional cash trade in the underlying stock, commodity or currency market. Ripple Prime provides the principal relationship and centralized risk management, while the Trade.xyz futures on Hyperliquid provide the reference markets used by the swaps.

Hyperliquid supplies the on-chain reference venue
The arrangement builds on Ripple Prime’s February 4, 2026 announcement that it had enabled institutional support for Hyperliquid. That earlier integration gave clients access to on-chain derivatives liquidity while allowing DeFi exposures to be cross-margined with digital assets, foreign exchange, fixed income, over-the-counter swaps and cleared derivatives.

Trading and settlement are available continuously, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, including weekends. This does not mean the underlying stock exchanges or commodity markets have themselves become 24-hour venues. It means the derivative service can be traded and settled around the clock using its digital-market infrastructure.
Margin and collateral options
Cross-margining across supported assets
Ripple says institutions can cross-margin RWA swap exposures against other asset classes supported by Ripple Prime. The stated operating model is one counterparty relationship with consolidated portfolio margin and centralized risk management. The exact assets eligible for a particular client’s margin account depend on Ripple Prime’s supported products and account terms.

Using RLUSD as collateral
Clients can use Ripple USD (RLUSD) as collateral, although RLUSD availability may differ by jurisdiction. The announcement does not establish that every client, account type or location can post RLUSD, so institutions need confirmation from Ripple Prime for their specific regulatory and operational setup.
Who is using the product?
Ripple identifies market maker Virtu as an institutional client already trading the swaps. Scotte Moegling, Virtu’s head of business development for digital assets, said that Virtu is expanding across emerging liquidity pools and that Ripple Prime’s 24/7 cross-margining across asset classes helps it broaden that activity as markets move toward continuous access.

Michael Higgins, international CEO of Ripple Prime, described RWA swaps as a meeting point between traditional and digital markets. He said institutions want exposure to equities, commodities and currencies alongside the round-the-clock access and efficiencies associated with digital infrastructure.

Where is the service available?
The offering is currently available through Ripple Prime’s CIV BVI license. Ripple says it intends to make the product available from additional regions, but it has not named those regions or provided a timetable. Access therefore depends on the client’s jurisdiction, onboarding approval and the products Ripple Prime is permitted to offer from the applicable licensed entity.

Important details that remain undisclosed
The launch announcement does not state fees, leverage caps, liquidation mechanics, minimum trade sizes, trade volumes, total notional outstanding or detailed eligibility rules. It also does not provide a schedule for expansion beyond the CIV BVI route. Those terms can materially affect capital requirements and counterparty risk, so prospective institutions should obtain the applicable Ripple Prime documentation before trading.
Ripple cites more than 85 licenses as a company-wide background figure; that number is not a count of licenses issued specifically for this RWA-swap product. Ripple Prime’s formation also followed Ripple’s reported $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road, a corporate background fact rather than a valuation of the new swaps.
