Choose a reverse image search tool by what you want to find: use Google Lens to identify or explore what is pictured, Bing Visual Search to find related pages and products, and TinEye to track copies or altered versions of a particular image. None is a documented all-purpose winner, and a search with no results does not prove an image is absent from the web.
Which reverse image search tool fits your task?
Reverse image search can mean several different things: identifying an object, finding pages that use an image, locating a product, or tracking copies of a specific file. The services have different documented strengths, so start with the task rather than assuming one engine will be best for every search.

How the three tools differ
Google Lens: understand and explore what is pictured
Lens is the broadest visual assistant of the three. Google documents results for objects, similar images, and websites featuring the image or a similar one. You can refine an image search with text—for example, add a description to narrow what you are looking for. Lens also supports tasks such as shopping from an image, exploring plants and animals, and working with text in an image. Google Search Help; Google Lens
For shopping, Google lists Lens availability in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the UAE, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Bing Visual Search: discover related pages, products, and more
Microsoft describes Bing Visual Search as a way to search the web with an image rather than text. Documented result types include similar images, pages using the image, products, and recipes. It is a useful alternative when you want image-to-web or product discovery, rather than only a close copy of the submitted file. Microsoft Support
TinEye: trace matches and inspect variations
TinEye compares a compact fingerprint derived from the submitted image with fingerprints in its index. Its documentation says this approach is intended to find image matches, including partial matches and versions that have been cropped, resized, or edited. It is not generally meant to identify a different image that depicts the same subject. How does TinEye work?

Its result controls are particularly useful for tracing appearances: sort by Best Match, Most Changed, Biggest Image, Newest, or Oldest; filter by domain, collection, or stock-photo source; and use the comparison view to inspect matching portions side by side. An apparent older result can help guide further investigation, but it does not by itself establish the image’s original creation date or ownership. TinEye Tutorial

Google Lens
- Open Google’s Search with an image help page or use Lens in a supported Google or Chrome experience.
- On desktop, upload an image, drag and drop it into the search area, or search using an image URL. Google lists Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge as compatible browsers.
- If the image is already on a webpage in Chrome, right-click it and choose Search with Google Lens.
- Review the visual results. To narrow them, enter a description in the Add to your search box.
Bing Visual Search
- Open Microsoft’s Bing Visual Search help page.
- On desktop, drag and drop an image, upload a file, paste an image or its URL, or capture an image with a webcam. Microsoft says a webcam is required for the camera option; uploading or pasting are alternatives.
- On mobile, take a photo, select an image stored on the device, or upload a saved file.
- Check the results for similar images, pages using the image, products, recipes, or other related information.
TinEye
- Go to TinEye.
- Drag and drop an image, paste it from the clipboard, upload a file, or provide an image URL.
- Use the result sort and filters to focus on the evidence you need: for example, choose Oldest to inspect older indexed appearances or filter by a domain or stock-photo source.
- Open the comparison view when you need to inspect how a result differs from your submitted image.
What the results can—and cannot—establish
A no-match result is not proof of absence
TinEye says a no-result response means it found no matching image in its own index, not that the image does not exist online. Search engines use different indexes and matching systems, and the cited product documentation does not provide a controlled head-to-head accuracy study or comparable index-coverage figures. For an important search, try more than one tool and treat missing results cautiously. TinEye describes its index as containing billions of images, but does not give a dated, precise count in the cited tutorial. TinEye Tutorial

A match is a lead, not proof of provenance
A result may show where an image appears or point toward a possible licensing source. It does not independently prove who created or owns the image, when it was first made, or whether your intended reuse is permitted. Check the page context, dates, uploader, and other corroborating information. TinEye explicitly warns that it cannot grant permission to use images found through its service. TinEye Tutorial

- Google Lens: Google says browsers do not save searched image URLs in browsing history, but that Google may store URLs searched to improve its products and services. This note is specifically about image URLs; it should not be generalized to every way of submitting an image. Google Search Help
- Bing Visual Search: Microsoft says submitted photos may be used to improve Bing image-processing services. Microsoft Support
- TinEye: Its tutorial says searched images are not added to its index and describes them as not saved. A separate TinEye privacy FAQ says submitted images are analyzed on TinEye servers and deleted after processing; that FAQ was dated March 14, 2019. TinEye Tutorial; TinEye privacy FAQ
If the image is sensitive, review the service’s current terms and privacy information before uploading it. A published statement is not a guarantee about every technical detail or use case.
