Google’s current Pixel Camera Help page lists Photo Sphere as available only on Pixel 3 through Pixel 7a. If you have a newer Pixel, there is no documented setting or update that restores the stock feature; use Panorama for a wide scene, or treat unofficial camera apps as unverified experiments. If Photo Sphere has disappeared from a supported model, try Google’s general Camera troubleshooting steps.
First, check whether your Pixel supports Photo Sphere
Google’s support page says, “Important: This feature is only available on Pixel 3 to Pixel 7a.” The published support range is the key distinction: on a newer Pixel, Photo Sphere may be absent by design, rather than hidden in the Camera app. Google does not document a Camera setting or Android update that adds the stock mode to unsupported models. Google Pixel Camera Help
Community discussions have described Photo Sphere as removed from future phones starting with Pixel 8, and users have also asked about its absence on Pixel 9. Those posts offer user-facing context, but Google’s current support page is the stronger source for the supported-device boundary. Google Pixel Camera Help Google Pixel Community
Use Photo Sphere on a supported Pixel
- Open the Camera app and look through the photo mode carousel for Photo Sphere.
- Select Photo Sphere, then tap the shutter button.
- Keep the phone steady and move it to align the target circle with each on-screen white dot.
- Continue until the dots are gone, or tap Done to finish.
Google documents these capture steps and lists Panorama separately from Photo Sphere. Google Pixel Camera Help
#1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
If Photo Sphere is missing on Pixel 3 through Pixel 7a
Try Google’s general Camera troubleshooting sequence. These steps address Camera app problems; they are not a method for adding Photo Sphere to unsupported Pixel models. Google Pixel Phone Help
- Restart your phone.
- Clear the Camera app cache in Android settings.
- Check Google Play for a Pixel Camera update and install it if one is available.
- Check for an Android system update.
- Consider whether a recently installed app could be interfering with the Camera app.
If other Camera controls remain broken after these steps, contact Google support. The missing mode alone does not establish that the camera is malfunctioning.

- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]

Panorama for a wide scene
Use the stock Camera app’s Panorama mode when you want a stitched, wide view. Follow the arrow and pause at each dot as instructed by Google. Panorama is a separate mode, not a documented replacement that captures a full Photo Sphere. Google Pixel Camera Help
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThird-party apps or modified camera builds
Community posts mention third-party camera apps and modified GCam builds, but the available sources do not establish a reliable, officially supported app or build for a particular Pixel model and Android version. Do not assume an APK will restore Google’s stock mode or work safely and consistently. If you consider an unofficial option, check the developer’s device- and version-specific documentation and confirm that its capture and viewing workflow meets your needs. Google Pixel Community
A supported phone as a device-level option
If Google’s built-in Photo Sphere mode is essential, Pixel 7a is within the published support range. Switching phones is a device choice, not a software fix for the Pixel you already own; check the specific phone’s condition and current availability before deciding. Google Pixel Camera Help

A December 2025 secondary report described a guided Panorama experience reaching Pixel 8 owners. That is a Panorama update, not evidence that Google reinstated stock Photo Sphere on newer Pixels. Google’s current help page continues to describe Panorama and Photo Sphere separately and limits Photo Sphere to Pixel 3 through Pixel 7a. Android Central Google Pixel Camera Help
