Open Settings and search for Users. If your Galaxy exposes user management, the option should appear in the results; on Android, Google’s general path is Settings > System > Multiple users. If no add-user option appears, there is no universal setting or verified command that brings it back: Android’s multi-user interface depends on the device maker’s configuration, and Samsung’s published setup steps are for Galaxy tablets, not every Galaxy phone.

Check whether your Galaxy exposes user management

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap the search icon or search field and enter Users.
  3. If a matching user-management setting appears, open it and look for an option to add a user or guest.
  4. If search finds nothing, check Android’s general path: Settings > System > Multiple users. Menu names and locations can differ by device and software version.

Google’s Android help explains that if neither add-user option appears, the device cannot add users through those settings. This indicates a device-level availability limit, not necessarily a setting you can restore by toggling another option. Google’s instructions for adding, switching, and deleting users describe the general Android behavior.

Why the option may be missing

Android includes multi-user support, but manufacturers decide whether to expose its user interface on a device. The Android Open Source Project says the feature is disabled by default in the platform configuration and explains that device makers enable it through configuration; that does not mean all Android devices lack multi-user support. Android’s multi-user documentation describes this manufacturer role.

Samsung’s documented instructions cover Galaxy tablets. They do not establish that every Galaxy phone, or every Galaxy tablet, offers the same controls. Samsung also warns that settings and sequences vary by product and location. For a model-specific answer, identify the exact Galaxy model, software version, and country or sales region.

If you have a Galaxy tablet with user controls

When the Users controls are present, follow Samsung’s tablet-specific steps rather than assuming a phone uses the same menus. Samsung notes that you may need to set a screen lock on the administrator account before adding another user. Its instructions also explain that you can return to the Administrator by restarting the tablet or selecting the user profile from Quick Settings. The exact labels and sequence may vary.

Choose a secondary user or a guest

If your device offers both, choose based on whether the person needs a lasting profile or temporary access. Google describes a user profile as a separate space for that person’s accounts, apps, settings, and home screen. A guest profile is intended for temporary use and is easier to remove afterward.

Profile Best suited to What to expect
Secondary user Someone who uses the device regularly A separate profile with its own accounts, apps, settings, and home screen.
Guest Temporary access A temporary profile that is easier to delete when the visit is over.

These are Android profile behaviors; whether either option is available depends on what the Galaxy’s software exposes. Google’s user and guest guidance explains the distinction.

If your phone has no Users option

  • Confirm the exact model and software version in the device’s Settings, then search for Users again; do not assume a guide for another Galaxy model applies.
  • Check Samsung support information for your model and region. Samsung publishes a regional example of user modes and warns that availability and settings can vary by product and location: Samsung Hong Kong’s user-modes guidance.
  • If neither the Settings search nor the general Android path offers an add-user control, treat multi-user profiles as unavailable through the supported settings on that device.
  • If you only need a separate login in one service, add an account within that app or service instead. That does not create a separate Android user profile or a separate home screen.

The cited official guidance does not establish a universal procedure for enabling missing multi-user controls on Samsung phones, or a reliable ADB command to restore them. Avoid treating an unverified command as a supported fix.
