They are scheduled to launch digitally in Japan on October 16, 2026, with package versions scheduled for January 29, 2027. Capcom’s announcement does not list a combined RE:2/3/4 bundle, so treat this as a choice among individual games unless a current local store listing confirms otherwise.

The digital prices and discount window are the terms Capcom announced for Japan, not a guarantee that the same offer will appear in every territory. The listed launch dates are scheduled dates: as of October 13, 2026, the digital releases and promotion are still upcoming. Check your regional Nintendo store or retailer for local price, availability, and final release status.
Resident Evil 2: what the Deluxe Edition means
The Switch 2 product is not listed as a bare standard edition. Capcom calls it the Resident Evil 2 Z Version Deluxe Edition. The announced package contains the main game plus various previously released DLC. The announcement does not provide a complete item-by-item DLC list in the details used here, so do not infer a particular costume, weapon, soundtrack, or art item unless your local listing names it.
For a buyer who already owns another version of the remake, the important question is whether the Switch 2 edition’s included extras duplicate content you already possess. Ownership of a different platform version does not, by itself, establish a transfer or upgrade entitlement. Look for a specific upgrade statement in your territory before paying again.
For a first-time buyer, the Deluxe label means the announced Japanese product is intended to include the game and additional previously released content in one purchase. It still does not turn RE:2 into a three-game collection, and it does not imply that every future add-on is included.
Resident Evil 3: costume DLC, but no Resistance
Resident Evil 3 Z Version is the least expensive of the three Japanese digital products at both its regular and temporary promotional prices. Its announced inclusion is costume DLC. Capcom also explicitly says that Resident Evil Resistance is not included.
That exclusion is the key buying warning. Do not choose this product expecting a multiplayer companion game, and do not treat the word “Z Version” as evidence that Resistance is bundled. The lower price may make RE:3 the easiest single-game entry for a buyer testing the series on Switch 2, but price alone does not establish which remake is best. This guide does not rank the games from playtesting; it matches buyers to the product and contents Capcom has actually announced.

Do not assume that any listing for “Resident Evil 4” on Switch 2 includes the scenario. Edition names can differ by territory, and the announcement reviewed here establishes Japanese products rather than a worldwide storefront template. A local page that omits the edition name or add-on list deserves extra caution before purchase.
How much do the three Japanese digital products cost?
At the announced regular prices, the separate Japanese digital products are ¥3,990 for RE:2, ¥2,990 for RE:3, and ¥4,990 for RE:4. Purchased separately at those rates, they add up to ¥11,970. Capcom announced a ¥1,000 reduction on each digital product during the launch period through November 7, 2026: ¥2,990, ¥1,990, and ¥3,990. If all three discounts are active and each game is bought separately, the arithmetic total is ¥8,970.
Those figures are budgeting calculations, not a trilogy offer. There is no announced combined SKU, shared checkout price, or promise that buying one game reduces the price of another. A retailer may later create a promotion, but it would need its own current listing. Never describe the arithmetic total as an official bundle price.

Which game should you buy first?
Start with the individual game you most want, then use edition content and format to decide. The official announcement supplies product information, not a comparative review or a performance ranking.

Digital is the only format Capcom scheduled for October 16, 2026 in Japan. It is therefore the announced route for playing at launch. The digital promotion is temporary and ends November 7, 2026, so a buyer who wants the reduced price must check out during that window and confirm that the discount is displayed.
Package versions are scheduled for January 29, 2027 in Japan. Waiting may suit collectors or anyone who prefers a physical copy, but the announcement does not establish local stock, retailer launch timing, package artwork, cartridge contents, or whether a package includes a download code for any add-on. Those details must come from the exact retailer and territory listing.

Do not assume that a package purchase automatically includes the same digital promotion, or that a digital purchase can later be exchanged for a package. The announcement only establishes that both formats are planned.
Release-date checklist for October and January buyers
- On or before October 16, open the Nintendo eShop for your country and search the exact edition name.
- Confirm that the listing is for Switch 2, not a previous-generation version or a different Resident Evil product.
- Read the included-content section. For RE:3, look for costume DLC and remember that Resistance is excluded; for RE:4, look for Separate Ways.
- Check the currency, tax treatment, rating, and release date shown in your territory.
- If the temporary price is important, verify that the ¥1,000-equivalent reduction is actually displayed before payment.

Those listings concern a different set of games and cannot be used to infer prices, availability, or bundle status for the RE:2/3/4 remakes.
Do not confuse this with the other Switch 2 Resident Evil group
“Resident Evil trilogy” can refer to more than one set of games. This guide covers the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4. Capcom separately announced Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem for Switch 2, with those releases dated February 27, 2026.

Who should wait?
Wait for a local listing if your decision depends on a non-Japanese price, a physical package, a territory-specific rating, or a confirmed bundle.
