You can erase a locked Samsung Galaxy A14 through Android Recovery Mode without entering its screen-lock password. The reset deletes data stored on the phone, and setup afterward may still require the Google account previously used on it. It does not bypass Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP).
Before you reset: understand the data and account consequences
Use this procedure only for a Galaxy A14 you own or are authorized to administer. Samsung describes FRP as protection against unauthorized resets of lost or stolen devices. A Recovery Mode reset erases personal information stored on the phone, and Samsung warns that deleted information may not be recoverable.
- If you can still access anything important, back it up before wiping the phone.
- If you can unlock the device, try recovering access to the screen lock or backing up your data before choosing a reset.
- Make sure you know the Google account previously registered on the phone. You may need it during setup after the reset.
Choose the reset route that fits your situation

Factory reset a locked Galaxy A14 in Recovery Mode
- Connect the phone to a computer with USB. Use a USB cable that supports data, not just charging. Samsung’s current recovery guidance includes a computer connection as part of the process.
- Power off the phone. If the screen is locked and you cannot use the power menu, follow Samsung’s model-specific instructions for turning it off or restarting it.
- Enter Android Recovery Mode using the hardware buttons. Samsung’s locked-device guidance describes using the volume and power buttons. Button timing and the precise sequence can differ by A14 variant and software version, so do not assume one timing works for every handset. Consult the instructions for your model if the recovery menu does not appear.
- Select the wipe option. In Recovery, use the volume buttons to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, then press the power button to select it. Confirm the wipe when prompted. Menu wording and confirmation screens may vary.
- Restart the phone. After the wipe finishes, highlight Reboot system now and press the power button.

Complete setup without bypassing FRP
After restart, Android setup may ask you to verify ownership with the Google account previously registered on the phone. On some supported Android versions, an eligible previously configured screen-lock method may also be offered. A Recovery Mode reset does not remove this verification requirement; it is part of the protection Samsung says can activate after a reset performed outside Settings.
If you cannot remember the Google password, use Google Account Recovery to recover the account. If you still cannot complete verification, Samsung directs customers to a Samsung service center and recommends bringing proof of purchase. If Recovery Mode does not open
- Check that the phone is connected to a computer by USB, as Samsung’s recovery guidance specifies.
- Confirm that the phone is fully powered off before trying the hardware-button sequence again.
- Check the support instructions or manual for your exact A14 model and software version; button handling is not established as identical across every variant.
- If the documented steps still do not match your handset, contact Samsung support rather than trying an FRP-bypass method.
