To remove a photo from a Samsung Gallery album but keep it on your phone, move it to another album or folder. Choose Delete only if you want to delete the photo itself. If you only want an album to disappear from Gallery’s list, change which albums Gallery shows instead.
Choose the right action before you start

Move a photo out of an album and keep it

Open Gallery, tap Albums, then open the album containing the photo.

Select the photo. Depending on your Gallery version, you may need to touch and hold it or open it and then use the selection control.

Tap More or the options menu, then choose Move to album.

Choose the album or folder where you want the photo to live. If there is no suitable destination, create an album first if your Gallery version offers that option.
Moving changes the photo’s location; it does not make a second copy. If you want it to remain in its current location as well, choose Copy instead, where available. Samsung’s album instructions distinguish copying from moving.

Some versions may offer device folders such as Camera or Screenshots as destinations. A Samsung Members moderator describes Camera as the default location for photos taken with the Camera app, but folder choices can vary by device; treat it as an interface example rather than a universal rule. Hide an album from Gallery without deleting its contents
If you want the album out of Gallery’s album list but do not want to move or delete its photos, change the albums Gallery displays:

Open Gallery and tap Menu or More options.

Open Settings, then tap Select albums to show.

Deselect the album you do not want displayed. Select it again later if you want it to appear in Gallery.
This is a visibility setting, not a deletion. Samsung Canada lists this feature for Android 13 or higher; the menu and availability can differ on other software versions. Its instructions for Select albums to show also note that Recent can be included in the selection.

Delete a photo only when you mean to remove the file
To delete a photo, select it in Gallery and choose Delete or Move to Trash, then confirm. Samsung Canada says items in Gallery Trash are kept for 30 days before permanent deletion. During that period, restore an item this way:

In Gallery, open Menu.

Tap Trash.

Select the photo and tap Restore.

Important: deleting from Recent deletes the photo
Recent is not a separate set of duplicate images. Samsung says deleting a photo from Recent deletes it from the phone. If you want to keep the photo, move it to its intended destination or use the album visibility setting instead of choosing Delete. If the menu names or locations differ
Gallery controls can vary by model, region, and software version, and Samsung cautions that screens and settings may differ. If you cannot find Move to album or Select albums to show, check your Gallery and device software version, then consult Samsung support for your model. The precise labels may differ from the paths above.
