To remove a card from Google Pay, now called Google Wallet in Google’s current help instructions, open the Wallet app, select the card, tap More, then Remove payment method. That removes it from that device only. To remove the payment method from your Google Account, use the Google Wallet website instead.
Choose where you want the card removed
A card can be stored in more than one place: in the Wallet app on a particular phone, in your Google Account, or as Chrome autofill payment information. Removing it from one place does not necessarily remove it from the others.

Remove a card from the Google Wallet app on one phone
- Open the Google Wallet app.
- Find the card. Swipe left if it is not the first card displayed.
- Tap the card.
- Tap More in the top-right corner.
- Tap Remove payment method. Google Wallet Help
This app procedure removes the card from the device you are using. If you also want it gone from your Google Account, use the account-removal steps below.
Remove the payment method from your Google Account
- Go to wallet.google.com and sign in.
- Choose Payment methods.
- Select the card or other payment method.
- Choose Remove. Google Wallet Help
Google says website removal also removes the payment method from your Google Account, but it may not remove it from the Wallet app on a device. If the card still appears there, return to the website’s Payment methods, select the card, open the More menu beside the listed device, and choose Remove from device. This stops tap-to-pay use on that device; the card may remain available for online purchases and Google services such as YouTube or Play Store. Google Wallet Help

Google also documents removal through payments.google.com, under Payment methods and then Remove. Account layouts and support-page directions may differ, so use the Wallet website’s device list if a card remains on a phone after account removal. Google payments help
Remove a card saved for Chrome autofill
If the card appears as a payment suggestion in Chrome, manage the saved payment information separately. Google’s instructions use the Wallet website for both Android and iPhone or iPad:

- In Chrome, go to wallet.google.com.
- Open Payment methods.

Chrome’s setting called Payment methods, offers and addresses using Google Wallet controls saving or syncing payment information through that Chrome account setting. Turning it off is not the same as deleting an existing payment method from the account. Chrome Help

Understand what card removal does not delete
Transaction activity
Removing a card and deleting payment-related activity are separate tasks. Google says activity for a specific payment method may also need to be deleted through My Activity. Some information may still be retained for business or legal requirements or to provide essential Google Pay services. Google Wallet Help

Local Wallet app data
To clear local Google Wallet data on an Android device, Google separately instructs users to remove payment methods from Wallet and then clear the app’s storage and cache in Android Settings. Clearing local app data is not a substitute for removing the payment method from the Google Account. Google Wallet Help
The underlying bank card or recurring payments
Removing a card from Wallet is not the same as closing the card account. The cited Google instructions do not establish that card removal cancels subscriptions or scheduled payments, or erases all transaction history. Contact the card issuer for concerns about the underlying account.
