Choose the official Paper Pure Sleeve Folio when model-specific fit, padded protection and automatic wake-and-lock behavior matter most. Consider a third-party Paper Pure case only when it offers a format the sleeve does not—such as a flip cover, a permanently attached writing cover or a dedicated pen holder—and only after confirming that the listing names Paper Pure specifically.
The distinction is important because reMarkable says its paper tablets have different dimensions. A reMarkable 2 case is not automatically compatible with Paper Pure, and the available third-party evidence is mostly listing information and one anecdotal buyer report rather than independent testing.
What you are actually comparing
The official accessory is called the Paper Pure Sleeve Folio. It is a padded sleeve that wraps around the Paper Pure tablet and Marker, rather than a book-style cover permanently attached to the tablet. reMarkable describes automatic wake when the device is removed and automatic lock when it is returned to the sleeve.

A third-party case can mean several different designs: a sleeve, a folio that opens like a notebook, a shell that stays attached while you write, or a case with an elastic or molded Marker holder. Those designs change how quickly you can start writing, how much protection the edges receive and whether the tablet must be removed before use. Compare the design, not just the product title.

The practical choice is therefore not “official versus unofficial” in the abstract. It is a decision about verified Paper Pure fit, protection, writing workflow, pen storage, automatic sleep behavior, added bulk, price and the seller’s return terms.
Paper Pure compatibility is model-specific
reMarkable lists Paper Pure at 228.1 × 187.1 millimetres with a thickness of 6.0 millimetres. The company also states that its paper tablets have different dimensions and that the Paper Pure Sleeve Folio will not work with another reMarkable tablet. This is why a listing that says only “reMarkable case” or “reMarkable 2 case” is not enough evidence of compatibility.
Why a reMarkable 2 case is not a safe substitute
Even a small dimensional difference can make a rigid shell impossible to install, leave a sleeve loose, misalign openings or prevent a cover from closing. A flexible pouch may appear to fit while allowing the tablet to move inside it. A folio can also place pressure on the display or Marker if its internal dimensions were designed for another model.
Search phrases such as Does a reMarkable 2 case fit the Paper Pure? are useful for finding discussions, but they do not establish compatibility. Treat the model name in the manufacturer or seller specification as the deciding evidence.
What to verify in a listing
- The title, compatibility field or specifications explicitly name Paper Pure, not merely “reMarkable.”
- The seller distinguishes Paper Pure from reMarkable 2 and any other tablet in the product family.
- Any stated internal dimensions accommodate a 228.1 × 187.1 × 6.0 mm tablet without relying on a vague “universal” claim.
- Photos show how the Paper Pure’s edges, ports and Marker are positioned in the case.
- The seller explains whether the tablet is held by a pocket, elastic, magnets, clips or a molded shell.
If one of these details is missing, ask the seller before ordering and keep the answer with your purchase records. Do not assume that a customer photograph proves every production batch has the same fit.
What the official Sleeve Folio provides
Construction and stated weight
According to reMarkable’s Sleeve Folio information, the accessory combines foam padding with rigid polycarbonate plates molded to the tablet’s shape. The manufacturer states a weight of 215 grams (0.47 lb). That is the accessory’s stated weight, not the combined weight of the Paper Pure and Marker.
The molded plates and padding are intended to give the sleeve structure while cushioning the tablet. The available information does not establish a drop rating, water-resistance rating or a laboratory durability result, so those should not be inferred from the materials alone.

Sleeve behavior rather than attached-cover behavior
The folio wraps around the tablet and Marker. The manufacturer describes the device waking when you remove it and locking when you return it. In practical terms, the sleeve is built around a remove-to-write workflow: take the Paper Pure out for writing, then put it back for carrying and automatic locking.
That is different from a folio that remains hinged to the tablet on a desk. If you want to write without separating the tablet from its cover, confirm that a third-party design explicitly supports that use; do not expect the official sleeve to behave like a permanently attached book cover.
Compatibility confidence
The official accessory is the option with the clearest model-specific compatibility statement in the available information. reMarkable identifies it as Paper Pure-specific and warns that it will not fit another reMarkable tablet. That reduces the uncertainty that comes with adapting a case designed for a different model.
What is known about third-party Paper Pure cases
Third-party Paper Pure cases do exist. A user discussion names TiMOVO and MoKo examples, and one commenter reports that a TiMOVO case held the device tightly and worked with the Marker. That is a single buyer report, not an independent fit, durability or long-term reliability test. It cannot establish that every TiMOVO unit fits, that later batches are unchanged or that the MoKo example performs the same way.
Listing details are also volatile. Materials, closure methods, pen-holder designs, colors, stock and regional prices can change without notice. Recheck the live listing before purchase, especially when the seller uses a broad product-family title.
Why buyers still consider them
A third-party option may suit you if you need a flip-style cover, want the tablet to remain attached while writing, prefer a particular material or need an integrated Marker holder. Those are legitimate workflow requirements, but they are benefits of a design category—not proof that a particular model is well made.
How to interpret community comments
Community reports are useful for identifying products to investigate and for spotting recurring complaints. They are not a substitute for checking the exact listing, because a report may involve a different size, seller, revision or shipping region. Use the TiMOVO comment as a lead, not as a guarantee; the discussion does not verify MoKo performance or provide a controlled comparison with the official sleeve.

Protection: compare coverage, not just material names
“Polycarbonate,” “leather,” “fabric” or “shockproof” does not by itself tell you how the tablet is protected. Examine which surfaces are covered and which remain exposed.

Look for protection along the four corners and the long edges. A sleeve that encloses the entire tablet protects differently from a thin back shell that leaves the display exposed in a bag. A folio may cover the screen while closed but still expose the hinge side or corners when dropped.
Pressure and movement
The case should hold the Paper Pure without requiring excessive force and without allowing noticeable sliding. A tight fit can make insertion difficult or put pressure on the device; a loose fit can let the tablet strike the case during movement. Test the fit gradually rather than forcing the tablet into a rigid shell.
Daily carrying conditions
Consider where the Paper Pure travels: a desk drawer, a backpack with books, or a commute where the Marker could detach. A padded sleeve may be preferable for a bag, while an attached folio may be more convenient for frequent note-taking. The right answer depends on the way you carry and use the tablet, not on a generic protection label.
Writing workflow and Marker storage
Remove-to-write versus write-in-case
With the official sleeve, the tablet comes out before writing and goes back in afterward. This adds a handling step but keeps the writing surface free of a permanently attached cover. A third-party flip case may let you fold the cover behind the tablet or leave it attached, but verify the seller’s photos and instructions rather than assuming every folio folds flat.

- Carrying: confirm that the Marker cannot slide out when the case is vertical or upside down.
- Writing: check that the holder does not interfere with your grip or press against the writing surface when the cover is open.
- Storage: make sure the Marker can be inserted without scraping the tip or requiring the tablet to be bent around it.
The official sleeve is described as wrapping around the tablet and Marker. For third-party products, “pen holder” can mean a loop, a pocket, an elastic strap or a magnetic attachment; each has a different retention risk. If the listing does not show the holder clearly, treat that feature as unconfirmed.
Wake, lock and magnetic behavior
The official Sleeve Folio’s automatic wake and lock behavior is specifically described by reMarkable: removal wakes the device and returning it locks the device. This can reduce the chance of carrying the Paper Pure while it remains unlocked.

Do not transfer that expectation to an unrelated case. A third-party cover may have no mechanism that interacts with the tablet, or its magnets may be positioned differently. The available evidence does not establish automatic wake or lock for the TiMOVO or MoKo examples. If this behavior matters, plan to verify it immediately after delivery and use the return window if the case does not work as advertised.
A simple behavior check
- Start with the Paper Pure locked.
- Place it in the case or sleeve as the seller instructs.
- Remove it and observe whether the device wakes without pressing a button.
- Return it fully to the case and check whether it locks as described.
- Repeat the test several times, including with the Marker stored, to detect inconsistent positioning.
This check does not prove long-term reliability, but it distinguishes a stated feature from a feature that is absent or inconsistent on your unit.

The official Sleeve Folio’s stated accessory weight is 215 g. Compare that figure with the complete third-party package, including a detachable cover, shell, strap or pen holder; a seller who lists only the empty shell may not be describing the weight you will carry.
Bulk affects both protection and convenience. A padded sleeve can occupy more room than a thin shell, while a rigid folio may add thickness around the edges even when its back is slim. Ask whether the case must fit inside another bag or alongside a keyboard, notebook or charger. If the listing provides no thickness or weight, mark those values as unknown rather than guessing from photographs.
Material labels also need context. The official construction specifies foam padding and rigid polycarbonate plates. Third-party materials and finishes should be evaluated for seams, exposed edges, closure strength and how easily dust can enter—not merely for appearance.

A search result for the official Paper Pure product line displayed a $69 Polymer Weave Sleeve Folio, but the opened product page showed localized euro prices. That dollar amount is a volatile search-page observation, not a dependable current US price. Confirm the US-facing page, currency, taxes and shipping at the time you order.
No dependable current US price was established for the TiMOVO or MoKo examples. A marketplace price can change with seller, color, stock and shipping destination, so do not use an old discussion comment as a price reference.

Return terms to record before ordering
- How many days you have to return the item.
- Whether opened packaging or a test fit affects eligibility.
- Who pays return shipping for an incorrect fit.
- Whether the seller accepts returns for a case that technically fits but does not match the listing description.
- Whether the order is fulfilled by the manufacturer, a marketplace seller or another distributor.
Keep screenshots of the compatibility claim and product photos. They are useful if the delivered case differs from the listing.
Step-by-step buying checklist
- Identify the tablet. Confirm that you own Paper Pure, not reMarkable 2 or another model.
- Write down the dimensions. Use 228.1 × 187.1 × 6.0 mm as a reference when a listing provides internal measurements.
- Choose the workflow. Decide whether you are comfortable removing the tablet to write or require an attached cover.

What to do if the fit is wrong
The tablet will not slide in
Stop rather than forcing it. Confirm that the listing is for Paper Pure and that you are inserting the tablet in the orientation shown by the seller. Photograph the product and packaging, then contact the seller or use the return process.
The tablet moves inside the case
Check whether an insert, spacer or liner was intended to remain in place. If the case still allows movement, do not rely on the loose fit for impact protection. A case that is advertised as model-specific but does not hold the tablet securely is a return candidate.

The Marker falls out
Test the holder in several orientations and while the cover is folded or closed. If the holder cannot retain the Marker without stretching or excessive pressure, use the return policy rather than modifying the case in a way that could damage the tablet.
Wake or lock does not occur
Re-seat the tablet and repeat the test with the case fully closed. If the behavior is not explicitly promised for the third-party model, treat the result as a design difference rather than a defect. For the official sleeve, compare your result with the manufacturer’s stated remove-to-wake and return-to-lock behavior and contact support if it fails consistently.
Which option fits which buyer?
Choose the official Sleeve Folio when
- You want the clearest Paper Pure-specific compatibility statement.
- You prefer a padded sleeve with rigid polycarbonate plates.
- You value the stated automatic wake and lock behavior.
- You are comfortable removing the tablet before writing.
- You want a manufacturer-published accessory weight of 215 g for planning carry weight.
Investigate a third-party case when
- You specifically need a flip format or an attached cover while writing.
- You need a particular Marker-holder arrangement.
- You accept that fit and durability evidence may be limited.
- The listing names Paper Pure and provides a practical return route.
- You are willing to verify the case immediately rather than treating a community comment as proof.
A third-party case can be the better workflow choice, but only after its model compatibility and return terms are established. The official sleeve is the lower-uncertainty choice for fit and the documented wake-and-lock routine.
