ReGLOSS: CROSS is a directional route-planning puzzle game: choose a direction for a member, and that member keeps moving until a wall, barrier, or other dead end stops them. Your objective is to bring members of the same color together. The challenge is not fast input; it is predicting every character’s complete route, including how switches open signs and how Warp Panels relocate a member.
The launch version contains 70 puzzles arranged across five regular stages and three extra stages. It is a single-player Windows PC game on Steam, launched on October 15, 2026, with Japanese and English support.
What makes ReGLOSS: CROSS different?
The game uses a small command set but turns each command into a commitment. The official Steam description summarizes the idea as: “The controls are simple—just move the members in the direction you want them to go!” A directional input is not normally one square of movement. Instead, the selected member continues along that route until the board gives it nowhere farther to go.
That movement model changes how you should read a puzzle. In a conventional step-by-step grid puzzle, you can often correct a small mistake immediately. In ReGLOSS: CROSS, one direction may carry a member across several junctions and leave it at an unexpected endpoint. A route that appears to put one character near its partner can also occupy the only stopping point the other character needs.

Think of every move as a route commitment. Before selecting a direction, trace the entire path, identify where the member will stop, and consider how that stopping position changes the remaining routes.
The core objective: make matching colors meet
Each puzzle asks you to bring two members of the same color together. A pair is solved when those matching members occupy the same meeting point. You are therefore solving several routes at once, not simply guiding one character to a target.
Read the board as constraints
- Identify every same-color pair before moving anyone.
- Trace the possible endpoint for each member from its current position.
- Mark junctions that could serve as a meeting point.
- Reserve those junctions for the pair that needs them; another member may block or consume the route.
- Recalculate after each move because a changed board state can alter which paths remain usable.
The important question is not “Can this member reach the colored area?” It is “Can both members of this color finish at the same legal endpoint without taking away the route required by another pair?”

An illustrative route decision
Suppose a blue member can be sent east into a corridor that ends at a central junction, while its matching blue member can approach that junction only from the north. The eastward move may look correct, but it is safe only if the blue partner can still enter from the north and no other member is forced to occupy the junction first. This is an illustrative example of the movement logic, not a description of a particular numbered level.
How continuous movement works
One direction carries the member to a stopping point
When you choose up, down, left, or right, the selected member travels in that direction until it encounters the board’s stopping condition: a dead end, wall, barrier, or another feature that prevents further travel. You are choosing a destination route rather than issuing a series of individual walking steps.
For beginners, the safest habit is to pause before every input and follow the line visually from the member’s current position to its eventual endpoint. Check turns, open intersections, and any special tile on the way. If the route is interrupted by a sign or leads to a Warp Panel, the final destination may differ from the path you first imagined.

Why a correct-looking move can still fail
A member can arrive in the right general region while making the puzzle unsolvable. Common causes include stopping on a shared junction, cutting off the approach angle needed by its matching member, or changing the order in which a switch and sign must be used. The game rewards global planning: inspect all pairs before committing to the first convenient move.

Signs begin as barriers. Activating the relevant switch changes the board state so that the sign becomes passable. Treat this as a permanent or currently active state change only after verifying the specific puzzle’s behavior; the supplied game information establishes the switch-controlled relationship but does not document a universal reset or toggle rule for every board.
A reliable switch routine
- Locate every sign and identify the nearby route it blocks.
- Find the switch associated with that sign.
- Determine which member can reach the switch without occupying a needed meeting point.
- Plan the complete path to the switch, including the endpoint after the switch is activated.
- Activate the switch before sending a member toward the newly passable sign.
- Recheck all pair routes after the state changes; the opening may help one color while removing a safe stopping point for another.
Do not send a character toward a sign merely because it is visually close. If the sign is still closed, the member will stop or be diverted, and that unexpected endpoint can interfere with later moves.
Switches as ordering puzzles
When a puzzle contains more than one switch, the key issue is often order. Ask which switch must be reached first, which member can safely perform that job, and whether opening one sign exposes or blocks a route needed for the second switch. Write a short dependency chain if necessary: “reach switch A, pass sign A, access switch B, then route the matching pair.”
Warp Panels
Warp Panels teleport a member when the member steps onto them. A Warp Panel therefore breaks the assumption that the end of a straight route is near the start of the next one. The member may leave one side of the board and reappear at a linked destination, changing both its position and the routes available to it.
How to plan around a Warp Panel
- Identify the panel’s entry route before moving the member.
- Determine where the teleport places the member.
- Trace the next available directions from the destination, not from the entry panel.
- Check whether the arrival point is a meeting junction, a switch approach, or a dead end.
- Confirm that the partner of the same color can still reach that destination.
A warp can be useful for crossing a distance that would otherwise be inaccessible, but it can also remove a member from the side of the board where a switch is located. Plan the entire before-and-after route before activating it.

Combining movement, switches, signs, and warps
ReGLOSS: CROSS introduces its special mechanics as the stages progress. The release announcement describes warps and signs being added over time, with difficulty rising as the game combines more ideas. A sensible learning order is route tracing first, then one new gimmick, then interactions between gimmicks.
Use a state-and-route checklist
- Map the current state: note which signs are closed, where each switch is, and where each Warp Panel leads.
- Choose the next objective: decide whether the immediate priority is a switch, a warp, or a same-color meeting.
- Reserve critical endpoints: keep shared junctions open for the pair that requires them.
- Execute one directional move: follow the member to its actual stopping point or warp destination.
- Update the map: record the new location and any changed sign state.
- Test the remaining plan: mentally trace every unsolved pair before issuing the next command.
This method prevents a common mistake: solving the most obvious pair first and discovering that the remaining characters no longer have compatible routes.
Difficulty and puzzle structure
The final launch structure contains 70 puzzles divided into five regular stages and three extra stages. The available launch information does not publish a level-by-level list of puzzle names or a separate puzzle count for each stage, so those details should not be inferred from the total.

The five characters are the members you route through the boards. Their names do not change the fundamental solving rule: match colors, predict complete movement, and preserve the routes needed by every remaining pair.
What the progression teaches
- Early route problems establish continuous movement and endpoint prediction.
- Later boards add signs and switches, requiring state management and move ordering.
- Warp Panels add nonlocal movement, so entry and arrival positions both matter.
- Advanced puzzles combine these mechanics, making a short input sequence depend on a long chain of consequences.
The developer describes the game in the launch statement as a 2D puzzle game that combines simple rules with various gimmicks for a demanding experience. The English rendering here is a translation of that statement, not an official English quotation.
A step-by-step method for solving a new puzzle
1. Inventory the board
Before touching the controls, count the members, locate each color pair, identify barriers and signs, mark switches, and find every Warp Panel. Look for dead ends and narrow junctions that can accept only one useful arrival direction.

2. Work backward from meetings
For each color, choose plausible meeting points. Trace backward from that point to determine how each partner would enter. A meeting that requires one member to approach through a sign is impossible until the appropriate switch is active.
3. Find forced moves
Some members have only one route that reaches any viable endpoint. Solve these constraints first, but do not execute a forced-looking move until you verify that it does not occupy another pair’s only junction.
4. Establish switch dependencies
Write down which sign each switch opens and which member can reach that switch. If a switch can be reached only through a Warp Panel, include the teleport in the dependency rather than treating it as a separate shortcut.
5. Simulate the full direction
For the next command, follow the member through every corridor and turn until it stops. Include the effect of a Warp Panel and the current status of each sign. If you cannot state the endpoint confidently, the move is not yet planned.
6. Execute and update
After the move, record the member’s new position and any newly passable sign. Do not rely on the old mental map; one state change can invalidate several previously safe routes.

7. Preserve flexibility
When two moves appear equivalent, prefer the one that leaves more open junctions and more access to switches. A route that solves a pair but strands the remaining members is less valuable than a route that preserves several options.

8. Reset deliberately
If the board becomes unsolvable, identify the first move that consumed a necessary endpoint or caused an incorrect state order. Rebuild from that point rather than repeating the same opening sequence.
