Rega’s Replay is a plug-and-play turntable aimed at people starting with vinyl. It arrives with a factory-fitted, aligned cartridge and is designed to avoid user arm balancing and bias adjustment—but it still needs to connect to an amplifier with a suitable phono input or to a phono stage. Rega says setup can take under a minute; that is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently timed result.
What Rega means by “all the paranoia and confusion”
Rega positions the Replay as a simpler entry point to vinyl. On its official Replay product page, the company says it removed “all the paranoia and confusion” by creating a plug-and-play turntable. The practical point is that several common setup tasks—fitting and aligning a cartridge, balancing the tonearm, and adjusting bias—are not required of the owner when using the supplied components as directed.
Rega says the Replay can be “setup and ready to use in under one minute.” That is manufacturer guidance, not a measured setup time. You still need a compatible audio input, a record, and to carry out the basic connection and playback steps.

What comes fitted, and what you need to connect
The Replay includes a Rega Carbon moving-magnet cartridge, factory fitted and aligned to the RB110 tonearm. Rega says the RB110’s bias is factory preset and non-adjustable, and supplies a 111 g plug-and-play balance weight. The cartridge’s stylus is replaceable, though Rega’s product page does not identify a replacement part number.

The turntable’s RCA phono leads connect to an appropriate amplifier or phono stage. Check the labels and instructions for your audio system before buying: if your amplifier has a phono input suitable for a moving-magnet cartridge, connect the turntable there; if it does not, a separate phono stage may be needed between the turntable and an appropriate line-level input. Rega’s page does not say every buyer needs a separate phono stage.
How to set up the Rega Replay
- Place the turntable on a stable surface. Leave room to open the removable dustcover and handle records.
- Push the balance weight onto the rear of the RB110 tonearm. Rega supplies the 111 g plug-and-play weight and says the user does not need to balance the arm or adjust bias.
- Connect the RCA phono leads to a compatible amplifier phono input or an appropriate phono stage, following your equipment’s instructions. Rega lists internal earth via the left channel.
- Remove the stylus guard carefully before playback.
- Select the record speed by manually positioning the drive belt for 33⅓ or 45 RPM.
- Switch on, choose a record, and cue the tonearm onto the record as directed in the product manual.
These are the steps Rega gives for its quick-start approach. The under-one-minute claim should not be treated as a guarantee for every system or first-time setup.

Rega describes the Replay as having a skeletal low-mass plinth, a brass main bearing, and a removable dustcover. Those are the manufacturer’s design descriptions; the product page does not give independent comparative measurements or performance results.
