The REDMI Turbo 5 is the stronger spec-led choice if you want its reported Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset and more listed memory and storage. The REDMI Note 17 5G is the lower-priced option in Xiaomi India’s observed listings and advertises a larger screen and a 45 W charging system. On 7 October 2026, Xiaomi India listed an 8 GB + 256 GB Turbo 5 for ₹41,999 and a 6 GB + 128 GB Note 17 5G for ₹27,999—a ₹14,000 difference between those specific configurations, not a like-for-like price comparison. Confirm the exact regional model and current local price before buying.

Turbo 5 camera, screen, processor and battery details in this table are secondary-source specifications, not independently tested results or manufacturer-confirmed details for every market. Note 17 figures also vary by regional page. Check the product page for the country and exact model you intend to buy.
Price difference: what the India listings actually show
Xiaomi India’s storefront, accessed on 7 October 2026, showed the REDMI Turbo 5 in Turbo White with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage at ₹41,999. It showed the REDMI Note 17 5G in Arctic Blue with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage at ₹27,999. That makes the Turbo 5 listing ₹14,000 more expensive, but the models have different memory and storage configurations, so this is not a like-for-like comparison. Check Xiaomi India’s store for current listings; prices and stock can change.

A third-party comparison page showed a different Turbo 5 figure—₹37,998—and described the Note 17 5G as upcoming, despite Xiaomi India’s live listing. For India availability and observed retail price, the dated Xiaomi storefront is the more relevant reference; recheck both stock and offers at purchase time. See the 91mobiles comparison listing.
Performance: the Turbo 5 has the reported chipset advantage
91mobiles reports a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra in the Turbo 5 and a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 in the Note 17 5G, with the latter processor also appearing on Xiaomi UK’s specification page. That points to the Turbo 5 as the more performance-oriented choice on paper, but the available specifications do not establish a benchmark score, gaming frame rate, thermal behavior or battery impact. Do not infer a precise speed gap from processor names alone.

The India listings also differ in memory and storage: 8 GB + 256 GB for the Turbo 5 versus 6 GB + 128 GB for the Note 17 5G. If you keep many apps or large files on your phone, the Turbo 5 listing offers more capacity. This comparison does not establish whether either model has other configurations in your market.

Display: choose between a more compact panel and a larger advertised screen
The secondary comparison describes the Turbo 5 as having a 6.59-inch, 120 Hz AMOLED display. Xiaomi Global advertises a 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel for the Note 17 5G, making it the larger advertised screen. A 91mobiles comparison also reports 120 Hz for the Note 17, but confirm refresh rate and resolution against the exact regional model’s official listing before relying on them.

On the listed diagonal sizes, the Note 17 5G is the option to consider if you prefer a larger viewing area; the Turbo 5 may suit someone who prefers a smaller one. The specifications alone do not establish which screen is brighter, more color-accurate or easier to use outdoors.
Cameras: listed megapixels do not settle image quality
91mobiles lists the Turbo 5 with a 50 MP main and 8 MP ultrawide rear camera, plus a 20 MP front camera. For the Note 17 5G, it lists a 50 MP primary and 2 MP secondary rear camera, but reports an 8 MP front camera. Xiaomi UK’s official regional specification instead lists a 16 MP front camera. That discrepancy makes the precise market and SKU especially important when comparing selfie-camera specifications.

These resolution figures do not establish sensor quality, lens behavior, low-light results, video capabilities or overall photo performance. No hands-on camera test or independent benchmark is available here, so choose based on verified local hardware rather than assuming the higher megapixel figure guarantees better pictures.
Battery and charging: verify the Note 17 5G region
The Turbo 5’s 7540 mAh battery figure comes from 91mobiles. For the Note 17 5G, Xiaomi’s UK and Global pages state 7700 mAh, while Xiaomi India states 8000 mAh. These are regional specifications, not a single universal capacity; confirm the battery figure for the model sold where you live. A larger stated capacity by itself does not establish longer real-world battery life.

Xiaomi lists 45 W charging for the Note 17 5G on its UK and India pages. The box contents differ by region: Xiaomi UK says the adapter is not included and recommends a 45 W PD-compatible charger, whereas Xiaomi India lists a 45 W adapter in the package. Check your local package details before buying a separate charger. The Turbo 5 package and charging details should likewise be verified for the exact regional model.
Which phone should you choose?
- Consider the REDMI Turbo 5 if the reported Dimensity 8500 Ultra, the India listing’s 8 GB + 256 GB configuration, or its smaller listed screen better fits your priorities. Verify the local specifications and price because the cited hardware details are secondary-source information.
- Consider the REDMI Note 17 5G if you want the lower price in the dated India listings, prefer the larger screen advertised by Xiaomi Global, or want Xiaomi’s stated 45 W charging details. Confirm the battery, camera and package specifications for your country, since Xiaomi’s regional pages differ.
For either phone, check that the exact model supports your carrier’s network bands and comes with the warranty and service coverage you need in your country. The available comparison details do not establish those market-specific compatibility terms.
