For a phone with 256GB of storage, the Redmi Note 17 Pro is the only model listed below Rs 40,000 in 91mobiles’ India price snapshot dated 19 September 2026: its 8GB/256GB version was listed at Rs 39,999, while the OnePlus Nord CE 6 8GB/256GB was Rs 41,999. At 128GB, both fit the budget, with Redmi listed Rs 1,000 cheaper. The choice beyond price depends on whether you value Redmi’s larger battery and ultrawide camera or OnePlus’s higher-tier listed processor, faster-refresh display and faster rated charging.
These are specification-based distinctions, not hands-on test results. Prices and availability can change; check the current India listing before buying.
Which phone fits a Rs 40,000 budget?
In 91mobiles’ India comparison published on 19 September 2026, both 128GB configurations were listed under Rs 40,000, but only the Redmi’s 256GB version made the cutoff.

|---|---|---|---|
| 8GB/128GB | Rs 36,999 | Rs 37,999 | Redmi Rs 1,000 less |
| 8GB/256GB | Rs 39,999 | Rs 41,999 | Redmi Rs 2,000 less; only Redmi is below Rs 40,000 |
These are the prices reported by 91mobiles’ comparison on that date, not guaranteed current prices. If the budget ceiling is firm and you want 256GB, the snapshot points to Redmi. If 128GB is enough, either fits, so the display, camera and charging trade-offs matter more.

How do the displays and processors compare?
Both phones are listed with 1.5K AMOLED displays, but they prioritize different things. Redmi’s screen is slightly larger at 6.83 inches and supports up to 120Hz. The Nord CE 6’s 6.78-inch screen supports up to 144Hz. A higher refresh-rate ceiling can make supported motion look smoother, but it does not by itself establish overall display quality or performance in every app.
The listed processor and memory specifications favor OnePlus on paper: the Nord CE 6 has a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and 8GB LPDDR5 RAM; Redmi has a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. The sources reviewed do not provide comparable benchmark or gaming tests, so these specifications do not prove a particular speed advantage in everyday use or quantify one.

Storage also varies by Redmi configuration. Xiaomi lists 128GB UFS 2.2 or 256GB UFS 3.1 for the Redmi; both Nord CE 6 capacities are listed as UFS 3.1. That means the cheaper Redmi storage tier uses a different, older listed standard, while its 256GB tier uses UFS 3.1.
Which phone has the more useful cameras?
On the rear, Redmi pairs a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide. The Nord CE 6 pairs a 50MP OIS main camera with a 2MP depth sensor. Choose Redmi if having a dedicated ultrawide lens is important for fitting more into a landscape or group shot; the listed megapixels alone do not establish which phone takes better photos.

For selfies and video calls, OnePlus lists a 32MP front camera with autofocus, compared with Redmi’s 16MP front camera. The higher resolution and autofocus are specification differences, not evidence of superior image quality in real-world conditions.
Xiaomi’s official Redmi Note 17 Pro specifications confirm the Redmi camera configuration. A separate Gadgets 360 listing conflicts with Xiaomi on some Redmi camera details, so Xiaomi’s manufacturer page is the stronger reference for those specifications.

Does Redmi’s larger battery outweigh OnePlus’s faster charging?
Xiaomi lists a 9,000mAh typical-capacity silicon-carbon battery for Redmi, 67W charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. The comparison lists the Nord CE 6 with an 8,000mAh battery, 80W charging and 27W wired reverse charging. Redmi therefore has the larger stated capacity; OnePlus has higher rated charging wattage and reverse-charging wattage.
Capacity and charging ratings do not establish actual runtime or how long a full charge takes. No comparable endurance or charging test is available in the cited sources, and real results can depend on usage and charging conditions.

What software support and durability claims are listed?
91mobiles reports Android 16-based HyperOS 3 on Redmi, with four years of OS updates and six years of security support. For the Nord CE 6, it reports Android 16-based OxygenOS 16, two years of OS updates and four years of security support. Those reported durations favor Redmi, but the OnePlus specifications were not verified against a manufacturer source here. Confirm the current regional terms with each manufacturer before treating a support period as a guarantee.
The same comparison reports IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for Redmi; for OnePlus, it reports those IP ratings and MIL-STD-810H. These are attributed specifications, not a promise that either phone is damage-proof. Water, dust and impact protection should not be treated as immunity from damage.
Which should you buy?
- Choose Redmi Note 17 Pro if you want 256GB while staying within the dated Rs 40,000 price snapshot, prefer a larger stated battery, need a rear ultrawide camera, or place weight on the longer software-support period reported by 91mobiles.
- Choose OnePlus Nord CE 6 if you prefer its higher-tier listed processor, 144Hz display, 80W charging or 32MP autofocus front camera—and the current price fits your budget.
- For 128GB: both were below Rs 40,000 in that snapshot, with Redmi Rs 1,000 cheaper. Consider whether the Redmi’s UFS 2.2 storage tier is an acceptable trade-off for the lower listed price.
Xiaomi says the Redmi package includes a USB-C cable, charging adapter and protective case, although package contents can vary by sales region. Check the box contents for the market and seller you use.
