The POCO X8 5G is the lower-priced option in one current India listing, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G has the more capable stated secondary rear camera: an 8MP ultrawide instead of POCO’s 2MP depth camera. On the official UK and global specifications, the phones share a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform, a 6.83-inch 120Hz display, an 8,340mAh battery and 67W charging. Choose only after checking your country’s exact model, matched memory configuration and included accessories: Xiaomi’s India Redmi listing differs from its UK specification.
What is the main difference between the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G and POCO X8 5G?
On paper, these phones share many core specifications. The clearest stated hardware difference is the rear secondary camera: Xiaomi lists an 8MP ultrawide on the Redmi, while POCO lists a 2MP depth camera on the X8. The available India price snapshot also favors POCO, but it compares listings at different retailers rather than matched configurations.
That makes the decision straightforward only if your priorities are straightforward: the Redmi’s ultrawide is more versatile for fitting broad scenes into a frame, while the POCO listing costs less. The specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photos, runs faster in everyday use, or lasts longer on a charge.

Which phone has the better camera setup?
Redmi’s ultrawide camera
The Redmi’s listed 8MP ultrawide gives it a dedicated option for wide framing, such as landscapes or group shots where stepping back is not practical. The specification indicates a more useful choice of perspective than a depth camera, but it does not prove that Redmi image quality is better. Independent comparative photo testing is not established here.

POCO’s depth camera
POCO pairs its 50MP OIS main camera with a 2MP depth camera. That is a different secondary-camera role rather than an ultrawide alternative. Both brands list 16MP front cameras, and both specify optical image stabilization for the main rear camera.
Are their screens and performance different?
The official Xiaomi UK and POCO global pages list the same Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform, with CPU frequency up to 2.4GHz, as well as 6.83-inch 1.5K-class AMOLED displays refreshing at up to 120Hz. POCO additionally advertises peak brightness up to 3,500 nits and 12-bit color; peak brightness is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement in matched conditions.

These shared specifications do not settle real-world speed, gaming performance, sustained performance under heat, or display visibility outdoors. No controlled head-to-head benchmark is established here, so aggregator scores should not be treated as a direct test of the two phones.
Which has the larger battery, and what comes in the box?
Battery specifications depend on market. Xiaomi UK lists the Redmi with an 8,340mAh typical-capacity silicon-carbon battery, matching POCO’s global listing for the X8. Xiaomi India instead lists a 9,000mAh typical-capacity battery for the Redmi. These regional figures should not be blended into a single worldwide specification.

Both Xiaomi UK and POCO global list 67W wired charging and up to 22.5W reverse charging. Box contents also vary: Xiaomi UK says the power adapter is not included, while Xiaomi India says a 67W charger is included. Check the package description for the precise country and SKU before buying; charging support does not itself mean an adapter is supplied.
How durable is the POCO X8 5G?
POCO claims IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, as well as SGS-certified drop resistance. Its product page also says the phone passed a 2-meter, 72-hour water-resistant test by TÜV SÜD. These are manufacturer-reported ratings and a named laboratory test, not a guarantee against damage in ordinary use.

POCO specifically warns that its underwater camera mode does not extend water resistance. Its stated limits for that mode are static freshwater, a maximum depth of 2 meters and up to 30 minutes; the company recommends a waterproof case. Do not treat those conditions as permission for routine underwater use or assume liquid damage will be covered by warranty.
What is the price difference?
As accessed by 91mobiles on October 7, 2026, the comparison page showed the Redmi at ₹36,999 on Amazon India and the POCO at ₹29,999 on Flipkart—a listed difference of ₹7,000. This is a dated snapshot from different retailers, not a controlled comparison of identical RAM and storage configurations; prices, stock and promotions can change.

For Spain, Cinco Días reported Redmi prices of €479.99 for 6GB+256GB, €499.99 for 12GB+512GB, and €549.99 for 8GB+512GB in 2026. Those are reported Redmi prices, not matched POCO prices. A September 2 report from the same outlet said POCO’s Spain price and availability had not yet been confirmed at that time; it does not establish current availability.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Redmi if: an ultrawide camera matters to you, or the exact local Redmi configuration is competitively priced.
- Choose the POCO if: its matched local configuration is meaningfully cheaper and you prefer its stated multi-rating durability specification.
- Pause before deciding if: you are comparing phones sold in different countries, retailers or memory configurations, or you need certainty about battery capacity, charger inclusion, warranty or carrier-band support.
Compare the same country and RAM/storage tier first, then weigh camera flexibility against price. Confirm the exact local model’s battery, package contents, warranty terms and network-band compatibility with the seller or manufacturer. These checks matter more than treating regional specification pages as interchangeable.
