The POCO X8 5G is reported to offer a sharper 1.5K screen, an 8,340 mAh battery, 67 W charging, and higher ingress-protection ratings—but those details come from a Xiaomi Community user post, not a POCO product specification page. Neither is a universal winner: match the regional version and memory configuration, then decide whether display resolution, battery capacity, protection claims, price, or documented update support matters most.

Which phone has the better display?
Choose REDMI for a larger listed screen
Xiaomi lists the REDMI panel at 6.99 inches, compared with the POCO’s reported 6.83 inches. The REDMI is specified as FHD+ AMOLED and has a listed peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. Peak brightness is not a statement of sustained brightness, and the cited POCO post does not provide a comparable brightness figure.

Choose POCO if the reported higher resolution matters more
The POCO’s reported 1.5K resolution is higher than the REDMI’s FHD+ resolution. That gives the POCO the stronger resolution claim on paper, while the REDMI has the larger listed diagonal. The available information does not establish a direct comparison of display quality, outdoor readability, or color accuracy.
Battery capacity and charging: what the numbers do and do not show
The POCO is reported with an 8,340 mAh battery and 67 W charging; Xiaomi lists the REDMI with 7,700 mAh and 45 W charging. Those specifications favor the POCO on capacity and rated charging power. They do not establish which phone lasts longer in real use or how long either takes to charge: usage, software, screen settings, charger availability, and testing conditions affect those outcomes, and no comparable test was available.

Water and dust protection claims
Xiaomi lists IP65 for the REDMI. The Xiaomi Community post reports IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for the POCO. These are manufacturer-related specification claims as presented by those sources, not a guarantee against damage in every situation. An IP rating is not a recommendation to deliberately submerge or expose a phone to water; follow the instructions and warranty terms for the exact regional model.

Chipset and camera: no verified performance winner
The listed REDMI chipset is Snapdragon 4 Gen 4; the POCO is reported with Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. Chipset names alone do not establish real-world speed, gaming performance, heat, or efficiency, and no matched benchmark or performance test was available. The available camera details likewise do not support a photo-quality verdict: the REDMI is listed with a 50 MP main camera, while the POCO post reports a 50 MP main camera with OIS/EIS. Megapixel counts and stabilization features do not replace comparable sample photos or testing.

Regional versions and memory options
Xiaomi Ukraine lists the REDMI Note 17 5G in 6/128GB, 6/256GB, and 8/256GB configurations. The POCO store listing includes Global 8/256GB and 12/256GB options, as well as UA UCRF listings; some UA UCRF stock was marked sold out. Before buying, compare the same RAM and storage, regional version, seller, and date. Check that the exact model is intended for your market and that the seller has current stock. The evidence here does not establish network-band compatibility for every regional variant. Xiaomi’s REDMI page lists a protective case in the box, but included accessories can vary by region.
Software support: REDMI has a stated commitment; POCO is unclear

Which phone should you choose?

- Compare before deciding on speed or photography. The chipset labels and camera specifications are not substitutes for matched performance tests or image samples.
