Short answer: choose the POCO F9 Ultra if you are buying through normal global channels and want a documented price, review coverage, and fewer import complications. Choose the Redmi K100 Pro if you can safely import a China-market phone and your priority is maximum hardware per euro: its reported 8,580mAh battery, 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and lower China launch equivalents are unusually aggressive. The decision changes once shipping, tax, network bands, software region, warranty, and return costs are included.

There is also a naming trap. The China phones identified in the available launch reporting are the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max, not a clearly defined universal base model called “Redmi K100.” Global reports have associated the expected Redmi K100 Pro and Pro Max with POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra names, but that is a market correspondence rather than proof that every regional SKU has identical hardware. Always verify the exact model number before buying.

The value verdict at a glance

For a buyer in a country where the POCO F9 Ultra is officially sold, it is the safer value recommendation. TechRadar’s review describes it as “spec-heavy” and says it delivers “top-tier performance and zero deal-breaker flaws for hundreds less than the competition.” That is a reviewer’s overall characterization, not a standardized laboratory result, but it is backed by a documented global review and a starting price of $799/£749 in that review context.

The Redmi K100 Pro looks better on a hardware-per-price spreadsheet. El País reported China launch equivalents of €504 for 12GB/256GB, rising to €640 for 16GB/512GB. Those are converted launch figures, not guaranteed retail prices in another country. The phone is also reported with an 8,580mAh battery and both wired and wireless fast charging. Importing can erase that advantage if the delivered price includes high tax, expensive shipping, a region mismatch, or a warranty that must be handled in China.

What “Redmi K100” and “POCO F9” actually refer to

Do not treat “Redmi K100” as one worldwide model. The dated launch evidence identifies two China-market products: Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max. Global naming reports expected corresponding POCO models, with the Pro associated with POCO F9 Pro and the Pro Max associated with POCO F9 Ultra. Regional names, memory configurations, radio bands, firmware, chargers, and camera tuning can differ even when products are marketed as counterparts.

Redmi K100 Pro

This is the main comparison phone for the reported China pricing and specifications. It is reported with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series platform, an 8,580mAh battery, 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, a 6.56-inch 1.5K OLED display, and a 200MP main camera.

Redmi K100 Pro Max

The Pro Max is a separate, higher-priced China model. Reported launch equivalents ran from €572 for 12GB/256GB to €818 for 16GB/1TB. Those figures help explain the range of the K100 family, but they should not be used as the Redmi K100 Pro’s price or assumed to describe the POCO F9 Ultra’s exact configuration.

POCO F9 Ultra

The F9 Ultra is the globally reviewed model in the available evidence. The review identifies a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and gives a starting price of $799/£749. The naming link to Redmi K100 Pro Max is useful for market orientation, but only the exact regional product listing and model number can establish whether a specific unit has matching battery, camera, display, modem, and charging hardware.

Core specification comparison

The table separates reported facts from items that are not established in the same source set. “Not stated” is deliberate: filling those cells with assumptions would make the comparison look more precise than the evidence allows.

Performance: powerful chips, but not automatically the same chip

Both phones target the upper end of Android performance, but the labels matter. The Redmi K100 Pro is reported with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series, while the POCO F9 Ultra review names a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. “V Series” is not a cosmetic suffix that can be ignored; it signals a platform variant or tuning distinction. Without identical independent testing on the same firmware, memory configuration, game version, and thermal conditions, it is not responsible to declare one chip faster from the names alone.

What to expect in games

Either phone is aimed at demanding 3D games, high-refresh interfaces, and sustained multitasking. The meaningful buying questions are not just peak benchmark scores:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Does performance remain stable after 20 to 40 minutes rather than only during a short test?
  • How aggressively does the phone reduce clock speed when the frame rate target and temperature rise?
  • Does the local firmware expose the same game-performance controls as the global firmware?
  • Is the imported model compatible with the game services, notifications, and payment apps you use?

No comparable independent frame-rate dataset for identical configurations was established for these two phones. Therefore, this comparison does not invent average frames per second, one-percent-low results, or temperature claims. A buyer who values competitive gaming should wait for tests of the exact regional units, not extrapolate from a different memory tier or software build.

Thermal behavior and sustained workloads

A larger battery can increase endurance, but it does not prove cooler operation. Cooling hardware, vapor-chamber size, chassis material, firmware limits, ambient temperature, and game optimization all matter. Likewise, the “V Series” label does not prove either better or worse thermal behavior. Ask the seller for the exact model number and look for long-duration tests of that unit before paying an import premium.

Battery life and charging

The Redmi K100 Pro’s reported 8,580mAh battery is the clearest hardware difference in the available information. It is paired with reported 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Capacity is not the same as runtime: screen brightness, mobile-signal quality, camera use, gaming, background synchronization, and software efficiency determine how long the phone actually lasts.

A separate certification report discussed prospective POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra versions with smaller batteries, including 6,330mAh for the F9 Pro. This is provisional certification reporting, not a final specification for every F9 Ultra market. The number should be treated as a warning to verify the regional listing, not as a definitive F9 Ultra capacity.

Why charging specifications affect value

  • 100W wired charging: useful when you regularly top up during short breaks, but the real speed depends on the supplied charger, cable, temperature, and battery-management limits.
  • 50W wireless charging: valuable for desk or bedside charging, provided the compatible pad and regional charger are available. A phone can support a high rate while the package includes a slower or different accessory.
  • Large capacity: helpful for travel and gaming days, but it can increase weight and replacement cost. Weight and thickness for the exact SKU were not stated here, so do not infer them from capacity alone.

For buyers who spend long periods away from an outlet, the Redmi’s reported capacity gives it a strong theoretical advantage. For everyone else, confirm actual runtime tests for the same firmware before paying extra solely for the battery number.

Display and camera differences

Display

The Redmi K100 Pro is reported with a 6.56-inch 1.5K OLED panel. OLED technology should provide the contrast and black levels expected from a modern premium phone, while the 1.5K resolution is a compromise between sharpness and power use. The available evidence does not establish the maximum refresh rate, adaptive-refresh behavior, peak brightness, touch-sampling rate, HDR certifications, or panel protection for either phone. Those details can vary by regional SKU and should be checked before purchase.

A higher refresh mode is useful for scrolling and games only when the software and application support it. If a listing advertises a high refresh rate, confirm whether it is adaptive, whether it works at the panel’s full resolution, and whether gaming mode changes the limit.

Cameras

The Redmi K100 Pro is reported with a 200MP main camera. That describes sensor resolution, not finished image quality. Processing, sensor size, stabilization, lens quality, autofocus, night-mode behavior, video limits, and regional software all influence results. No directly comparable camera samples or standardized tests were established for the two phones, so a 200MP label should not be converted into a guaranteed photographic win.

The POCO F9 Ultra’s detailed camera hardware was not stated in the reviewed evidence. Buyers should obtain the exact regional camera table and check whether the phone has optical stabilization, an ultrawide camera, telephoto hardware, and the video modes they need. Do not assume the globally named counterpart uses exactly the same sensors as the China phone.

Price: compare total landed cost, not converted launch figures

The Redmi figures are useful for understanding the China-market positioning:

Redmi K100 Pro configuration Reported China launch equivalent What is not included
12GB RAM / 256GB storage €504 Import tax, VAT or sales tax, shipping, payment fees, warranty handling, and possible accessories.
12GB RAM / 512GB storage €586 Local retail margin and return costs.
16GB RAM / 256GB storage €558 Currency movement and customs charges.
16GB RAM / 512GB storage €640 Any seller markup or region-specific software service.

The Redmi K100 Pro Max was reported from €572 for 12GB/256GB to €818 for 16GB/1TB. Those are also converted China launch equivalents. They are not evidence that a Pro Max or POCO F9 Ultra will cost the same in your country.

The POCO F9 Ultra’s $799/£749 starting price comes from a TechRadar review context. It is a global-market reference, but dollars and pounds are not a single worldwide price and may or may not include local taxes. Compare the amount you can actually pay at checkout, including delivery and tax, with the importer’s final delivered price.

  1. Start with the seller’s phone price for the exact RAM and storage configuration.
  2. Add shipping, insurance, payment or currency-conversion fees, and any required charger or adapter.
  3. Add import VAT, sales tax, customs duty, and carrier brokerage charges for your country.
  4. Price a realistic return shipment and consider who pays if the phone fails after the seller’s short return window.
  5. Subtract only discounts that are guaranteed at checkout, not temporary coupons with unclear eligibility.

If the final imported cost is close to the locally supported POCO price, the POCO’s warranty, bands, software region, and easier returns can be worth the difference.

Availability, software region, warranty, and network bands

Availability is the largest non-specification variable. The POCO F9 Ultra has documented global review coverage and official US pricing context. The Redmi K100 Pro figures here are China-market figures. A China phone can be perfectly usable elsewhere, but that depends on the seller’s firmware, language support, Google-service availability, bootloader policy, update channel, and radio bands.

Network compatibility checklist

  • Match every LTE and 5G band used by your carrier, including low-frequency bands needed for rural coverage and building penetration.
  • Confirm VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling support; a phone can connect to data yet fail carrier voice requirements.
  • Check dual-SIM behavior, eSIM support if required, and whether both slots share 5G capability.
  • Verify that the exact model number, not merely “K100” or “F9 Ultra,” is approved or supported in your country.

Software and updates

China and global firmware can differ in preinstalled services, notification behavior, payment compatibility, language choices, and update timing. A seller may advertise a “global ROM” that was installed unofficially rather than a factory-global device. Ask whether the bootloader is unlocked, whether updates arrive over the air, and whether banking or digital-identity applications work on that software.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Warranty and returns

Determine whether the warranty is handled by the manufacturer in your country, by the seller, or only by a service center in China. Ask who pays shipping for a defect, how long diagnosis takes, and whether opening the bootloader affects coverage. A low purchase price is not a bargain if a screen, battery, or motherboard failure requires international shipping.

Which phone is better for different buyers?

Choose POCO F9 Ultra when…

  • You want a phone available through a recognized global channel.
  • You value a documented local or regional price more than the lowest theoretical launch equivalent.
  • You need predictable carrier compatibility, official software services, and a practical return route.
  • You do not want to verify Chinese firmware, import taxes, or seller-only warranty terms.

Choose Redmi K100 Pro when…

  • You can import confidently and have checked the exact model’s bands and firmware.
  • The reported 8,580mAh battery and 100W/50W charging matter to your travel or gaming routine.
  • Your delivered cost remains materially below the POCO F9 Ultra after tax and risk.
  • You accept that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series should not be assumed identical to the F9 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

Consider the Pro Max only for a deliberate upgrade

The Pro Max’s reported €572–€818 China launch-equivalent range and 1TB top configuration place it in a different budget bracket. Buy it only if you need the additional storage or other confirmed hardware differences. Do not pay the Pro Max premium simply because online listings use “K100” inconsistently.

How to verify an imported Redmi listing before payment

  1. Read the model number: copy it from the seller’s specification page and match it with the box label and regulatory information.
  2. Confirm the configuration: check RAM, storage, color, charger type, and whether the listing is Redmi K100 Pro or Pro Max.
  3. Request firmware details: ask for the installed region, languages, Google-service status, bootloader state, and update method.
  4. Check carrier bands: compare the complete LTE and 5G list with your carrier, including VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling requirements.
  5. Get warranty terms in writing: identify the service location, return period, shipping responsibility, and exclusions for modified software.
  6. Calculate landed cost: include tax, customs, shipping, currency conversion, and a possible return.
  7. Use buyer protection: pay through a method that provides a dispute process and retain the listing, messages, and unboxing evidence.
  8. Inspect immediately: test display uniformity, cameras, charging, wireless charging, SIM operation, speakers, biometrics, and network registration before the return period ends.

Common mistakes that make the cheaper phone poor value

  • Equating names with identical hardware: Redmi K100 Pro, K100 Pro Max, POCO F9 Pro, and POCO F9 Ultra are market names, not a guarantee of one universal specification.
  • Comparing currencies without taxes: a converted China launch figure is not a delivered price in Europe, the United States, or another market.
  • Assuming the V-Series chip is the standard chip: platform branding must be verified and tested on the exact unit.
  • Using battery capacity as a runtime guarantee: screen settings, signal, games, and firmware can outweigh a capacity difference.
  • Buying on megapixels alone: a 200MP main camera does not establish stabilization, low-light quality, or video capability.
  • Ignoring accessories: a high charging rate may require a compatible charger and cable that are not included in an imported package.
  • Skipping the return deadline: test the phone as soon as it arrives; cross-border returns become difficult after the seller’s window closes.

Final recommendation

For most readers buying outside China, the POCO F9 Ultra is the better value decision because its global price and review context are documented and the purchase carries less friction. That recommendation is about total ownership risk, not a claim that it wins every hardware category.

The Redmi K100 Pro is the higher-upside import. Its reported 8,580mAh battery, 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, 6.56-inch 1.5K OLED display, and 200MP main camera are compelling alongside the €504–€640 China launch equivalents for the listed configurations. Buy it only after confirming the exact SKU, radio bands, firmware, taxes, charger, and warranty. If those checks pass and the landed price remains substantially lower, the Redmi offers the stronger hardware-per-price proposition.
