The Redmi 17 5G is the lower-priced option in the India store snapshot, with a large 6.9-inch HD+ display, microSD expansion and a 7,900mAh battery. The realme P4s 5G costs more in the cited configuration but offers a 1.5K AMOLED display, 144Hz refresh-rate positioning and 80W charging. As of October 7, 2026, the displayed starting-price gap was ₹11,000—but the prices are for different RAM configurations, not a like-for-like comparison.

What is the price difference in India?
On October 7, 2026, Xiaomi India’s product listing showed the Redmi 17 5G from ₹23,999 and listed 6GB+128GB and 8GB+128GB variants. The listing did not make clear which RAM configuration determined the displayed starting price. The realme India Store showed the Titanium Gray P4s 5G with 8GB+128GB at ₹34,999, against an MRP of ₹48,999, and also listed 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB choices.

Which phone has the better display?
Choose based on what matters more than screen size alone. The Redmi’s 6.9-inch HD+ panel provides a larger stated diagonal and supports up to 120Hz AdaptiveSync. The P4s pairs a 1.5K resolution with AMOLED technology and promotes a 144Hz experience. On the stated specifications, realme offers the higher resolution and AMOLED panel, while Xiaomi emphasizes a larger screen. Refresh-rate figures describe supported display modes, not a guarantee that every app or game will run at that rate.
Which has the better battery and charging?
Both phones have large manufacturer-rated batteries: 7,900mAh typical capacity for Redmi and 8,000mAh for P4s. realme specifies faster 80W charging, while Redmi lists 45W charging and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging. These figures do not establish which phone lasts longer in real use; no head-to-head endurance test is available here.

Xiaomi says on its Redmi product page, “Even after 1000 full charge cycles, the battery can still maintain 80% or more of its original capacity.” That is the manufacturer’s statement, not an independent battery-aging result.
How do performance and cameras compare?
The Redmi uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5; the P4s uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultra. Chip names alone do not establish which is faster for a particular workload. realme reports “1,013,645 AnTuTu Score(V11)” from realme Lab, with the year unstated on the product page, and says actual results may vary. It is a vendor-reported score, not a comparable independent test of both phones.

For camera hardware, Xiaomi’s FAQ identifies a 50MP main camera and 8MP front camera. realme advertises a 50MP rear camera, 8MP ultra-wide, 16MP selfie camera and 4K recording. The additional stated ultra-wide camera and higher-resolution selfie camera give the P4s a broader listed camera setup, but megapixel counts and feature lists cannot establish image quality. No hands-on camera comparison is available.
Which offers more durability and storage flexibility?
Xiaomi lists IP64 dust and splash protection, Gorilla Glass 7i and microSD expansion up to 2TB. realme advertises IP66, IP68 and IP69 protection claims. These ratings should not be treated as directly equivalent test conditions or as a promise that liquid damage will be covered. Check each phone’s warranty terms for liquid-damage exclusions. Redmi is the one with explicitly stated microSD expansion in the cited specifications.

How long will each phone receive software updates?
Xiaomi states four years of OS updates and six years of security updates for the Redmi 17 5G. realme states three Android OS updates and four years of security patches for the P4s. These are manufacturer commitments, not a verified record of updates already delivered; the stated periods also use different wording, so compare the commitments as published rather than assuming identical counting conventions.
