To recover a deleted video on a Samsung Galaxy S20, first look in Gallery > Menu > Recycle bin. If it is not there, check Google Photos’ Bin and Archive, confirm you are using the right Google account, then look for a copy in any cloud service that was already syncing your Gallery. Recovery is possible only if the video remains in a bin or another copy exists; restoring a bin item does not recover a video permanently deleted everywhere.
Start with Samsung Gallery’s Recycle bin
- Open Gallery on your S20.

- Select the video and tap Restore.
The Recycle bin must have been enabled before the video was deleted. Samsung Ireland’s support guidance specifies a 30-day retention period, but the Galaxy S20 manual does not give a duration, and Samsung notes that menus and settings can vary by software version and device. Check Google Photos’ Bin and Archive
If Gallery’s bin does not contain the clip, check Google Photos. In the current Android app, go to Collections > Bin, select the video, and tap Restore. Google says Bin items are permanently deleted after 30 days. A restored item returns to the Google Photos library, its albums, and the phone’s Gallery. [Google Photos Help]

Also check Archive: a video moved there may seem absent from the main photo view without having been deleted. If you use more than one Google account, switch to the account that was active when backup was set up and check its Bin and library. Google’s help explains that account and archive state can affect whether an item appears where expected. [Google Photos Help]

Look for a cloud-synced or backed-up copy
If Gallery sync or another backup was active before deletion, check the linked account for a separate copy. Samsung documents Gallery cloud sync through Samsung and Microsoft accounts, with Gallery sync transitioning to OneDrive; the Galaxy S20 manual also describes saving captured photos and videos in the cloud and connecting Microsoft OneDrive. The cited Samsung sources establish that cloud syncing and OneDrive connection are options, but do not establish a current OneDrive recovery window. Check the service’s own current instructions rather than assuming a particular retention period.

What if you deleted the video permanently?
If the video is no longer in either bin and no cloud or backup copy exists, the cited official sources do not provide a recovery route. Google Photos Help states that permanently deleted items cannot be restored from its Bin. Samsung’s documented recovery options likewise rely on an item remaining in Recycle bin or on an existing synced or backed-up copy. These sources do not establish third-party software as a reliable way to recover a permanently deleted S20 video, so no app can be promised to bring it back. Prevent the next video from being lost
- Check that Samsung Gallery’s Recycle bin is enabled, so deleted items can be retained there before you need to restore them.
- Set up Google Photos backup or Samsung Gallery cloud sync if you want an additional copy. Turning backup on after a video is already deleted cannot create a copy of that video retroactively.
- Know which account is linked to each service, and occasionally verify that new videos are appearing in the intended library or cloud location.
