With @zoytown/dsh-rewind, you can restore a workspace file from a saved point before it was deleted, then reverse that restore if it removes later work you still need. The plugin rewinds workspace files, not the conversation transcript. Its restore also saves the state it is about to overwrite and prints an ID you can use to bring that state back.
Find the snapshot from before the file was deleted
@zoytown/dsh-rewind saves workspace snapshots at the end of turns in a separate shadow Git repository. The plugin can work even if the workspace itself is not a Git repository; it stores snapshots under $DSH_HOME/rewind/ and says its saving process does not move the workspace repository’s HEAD. See the plugin README.
Open Settings → Rewind to browse saved points and their change descriptions, or enter /rewind list to list snapshots. Choose the snapshot immediately before the deletion or unwanted edit. The command /rewind selects the previous turn; /rewind 3 selects the end of turn 3; and /rewind <id> selects a snapshot by a unique ID prefix of at least four characters.

The interface warns that files created after that point can be deleted. A restore makes the workspace match the earlier snapshot: changed files return to their earlier contents, and files that did not exist at that point are removed. The conversation remains unchanged.

Undo a restore that removed wanted work
Each restore first snapshots the current workspace state—the state it is about to overwrite—and prints that snapshot’s ID. If the restore removed later changes you wanted to keep, use that ID to restore the overwritten state. You can select it with /rewind <id>, using a unique prefix of at least four characters, or locate it through /rewind list. This returns the workspace to the state from before the preceding restore.
After restoring either point, check the affected files in the workspace. The plugin documentation describes the save, restore, and undo behavior; it does not establish what is present in a particular user’s installation or files.
Check what the plugin does not save
Rewind cannot recover files it excluded from its snapshots. The README documents these exclusions:

- Files matched by
.gitignore, such as.envandnode_modules, are not captured or restored. The.gitignorefiles themselves are not captured or restored either. .gitis always excluded. Additional configured exclusions apply even to files tracked by the project’s Git repository. The README cautions that tracked files in directories such asdist/orbuild/may therefore be omitted unless the exclusion list is configured as[].- Files inside nested Git repositories are not captured internally; the nested repository is represented as a Git sub-repository pointer.
Check the plugin’s exclusions before relying on a snapshot, especially if the missing file was ignored or stored in a nested repository. A snapshot cannot restore content it never captured.
Install or troubleshoot the Rewind page
The plugin README lists Git as a prerequisite wherever DeepSeek Harness runs its tools, and requires Node.js ^22.19 || >=24. For the web profile, its documented install command is:
npx -y @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add @zoytown/dsh-rewindRestart DeepSeek Harness after installing. Plugins mount at boot, so if Rewind does not appear in Settings, restart first; then inspect the profile dump to confirm the plugin bundle is mounted.

The README lists default settings of gitTimeoutMs: 60000, retentionDays: 30, maxSessions: 50, listLimit: 200, and exposeTool: 'off'. Retention works at the session level: older or numerous sessions may be dropped as whole sessions, while a long session can retain its snapshots. Those defaults affect which saved points remain available.
Panel and /rewind restores wait until the agent is idle. If a restore is interrupted partway through, the workspace may be left between states; the README says the plugin takes a safety snapshot first so a subsequent restore can settle the files into a saved state.
Know the compatibility limits
DeepSeek describes Harness as an open-source public preview, and the plugin README warns that Harness APIs can change. The plugin repository reports a save → restore → undo verification dated 2026-08-19 using Harness 0.1.0-rc.6/rc.7 and Git 2.50.1; this is the project’s own verification, not an independent test of every installation. Recheck compatibility after Harness upgrades. See the official Harness page and the plugin README.
The README also states that the plugin makes no outbound network requests and has no telemetry. That is the project’s documentation claim, not an independent security audit.
