Reclamation – Reclaim the World! turns Minecraft 1.20.1 into a staged restoration project. You begin in a barren world with no conventional underground ores and very limited natural resources, then rebuild materials, food, power, magic and living systems through more than 500 handwritten quests.
This guide covers the 2.3.2 release, CurseForge installation, multiplayer server-pack setup, progression routes, and the differences between the standard pack and Reclamation – Hardcore Edition.
What Reclamation is
Reclamation is a semi-expert Minecraft modpack by ACCBDD focused on bringing a dead world back to life. Its official description opens with the premise: “You wake up in a barren, dead world.” The setting is not ordinary survival with a different collection of mods. The pack removes the familiar early-game resource loop and asks you to restore it through deliberate processing, automation, agriculture, magic and breeding systems.
The official project listing categorizes Reclamation around Magic, Quests and Hardcore. Its progression is heavily customized: recipes are changed, systems are gated, and the included mods are intended to feed into one another rather than operate as unrelated additions.

The download figure is a dated counter, not a permanent measure of the player base. The release and server-file names are the identifiers you should use when checking that everyone is on the same version.
Why the opening is different from vanilla survival
The official description states that “No ores lie beneath the surface.” That single rule changes every early decision. You cannot solve the first hours by digging until you find iron, expanding a normal mine, or rushing a conventional Nether setup. Dirt is scarce, food production is constrained, and the world contains little ordinary life beyond twisted or mutated creatures.

Your first objective is therefore not a large base. It is a reliable chain that turns a small amount of starting material into more inputs. The pack expects you to move from basic dirt and food production to repeatable processing, then to power, automation and higher-tier resource generation. Quests provide the narrative and checkpoints, while the recipes determine which shortcuts are unavailable.
Version and installation requirements
Use Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Reclamation release that matches your chosen loader. The project publishes Forge and NeoForge distributions, so do not mix a Forge client with a NeoForge profile or assume that a file built for one loader will start on the other.
- A Minecraft 1.20.1 profile in your launcher.
- The Reclamation 2.3.2 client files.
- The loader specified by the Reclamation file you downloaded: Forge or NeoForge.
- Sufficient disk space and memory for a large modpack; the exact allocation is not stated on the project listing, so start with your launcher’s normal modded-game settings and increase memory only if logs show memory pressure.
The project documentation specifically describes importing through CurseForge’s My Modpacks tab. Other launchers may work, but they are not documented by the project information used for this guide.
Install Reclamation for single-player
- Open CurseForge and go to My Modpacks. Use the import workflow in that tab and select the Reclamation package you downloaded.
- Choose the Minecraft 1.20.1 profile. Do not let the launcher substitute a newer Minecraft version; the published pack release targets 1.20.1.
- Select the matching loader. If the package is a Forge distribution, create or import it as Forge. If it is a NeoForge distribution, use NeoForge instead.
- Allow the launcher to finish installing the profile. A first launch can take longer while mods and libraries are indexed.
- Start the instance once before changing settings. This confirms that the loader, pack files and Java installation work together and gives you a clean baseline for troubleshooting.
- Create a new world. Reclamation’s resource rules are world-generation and recipe dependent, so use a new save rather than adding the pack to an existing vanilla or unrelated modded world.
Keep the instance at release 2.3.2 when joining a 2.3.2 server. Updating only the client, removing a mod, or switching loaders can produce missing-mod, registry or recipe errors even when the Minecraft version still says 1.20.1.

Set up a multiplayer world
Reclamation supports a clear client/server arrangement: every player uses the same client release, while the host deploys the separate server artifact listed by the project.
- Choose a single release. For this guide, that is Reclamation 2.3.2 on Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Install each player’s client profile. Every participant should use the same Reclamation release and the same loader family as the server.
- Download the matching server file. The project lists
Reclamation-Server-2.3.2-hotfix.zipas the server-pack artifact. - Deploy the ZIP on the host. Extract it using the procedure required by your server environment, then start it with the Forge 1.20.1 configuration expected by that package. The project listing does not publish a universal startup command, so use the launch instructions supplied by your host or self-hosting setup.
- Check the server log before inviting players. Confirm that the server reaches a ready state without a missing-mod or wrong-loader error.
- Have players connect with the exact same pack. A client on another Reclamation release, a different loader, or a manually altered mod list should be treated as incompatible until corrected.
Hosting-provider compatibility and pricing are not established by the project listing. If you use a provider, verify that it supports Forge 1.20.1 and accepts this server pack before paying for a plan.
How progression works
There is no publicly documented quest dependency map that justifies publishing an exact quest-by-quest order. The safest way to play is to follow the in-game questbook while understanding the broad progression the project describes.
1. Stabilize dirt, food and basic materials
Scarce dirt makes ordinary farming and building expensive. Protect the blocks you have, expand renewable soil and establish food before spending resources on decorative construction. Early quests are best viewed as a sequence of infrastructure unlocks: each completed task should make the next input easier to obtain.

With no conventional ore layer to exploit, material production depends on processing chains and alternate generation. Treat every machine, catalyst and by-product as part of a system. A recipe that appears inefficient in isolation may be the intended bridge to the next tier.
3. Add dependable power and automation
Once you can produce repeatable inputs, move toward machines that reduce manual handling. Mekanism is one of the named technologies in the pack, while Embers Rekindled supplies another progression route. The exact order is governed by the questbook and modified recipes rather than by the normal Minecraft tech tree.

4. Layer magic onto the resource chain
Enchanted: Witchcraft, Blood Magic and Nature’s Aura are explicitly named as important parts of progression. They are not simply optional spell collections; in a gated pack they can provide components, transformations or efficiencies that technology alone cannot supply.
5. Restore living production systems
Mystical Agriculture, AgriCraft and Complicated Bees provide renewable routes for resources and materials. Their value grows as your infrastructure becomes stable: automation can handle repeated crops, breeding or processing while you pursue the next quest chapter.

Mystical Agriculture
Mystical Agriculture is one of the named resource-generation systems in the standard edition. It represents a route from controlled agriculture to renewable materials. Plan for the supporting infrastructure first: seed production, farmland, power and automated harvesting become more important than planting a single crop by hand.
AgriCraft
AgriCraft extends the agricultural side of the pack. Use it when the bottleneck is not food but the quality and repeatability of plant production. Breeding and crop management can turn limited starting stock into a dependable source of later ingredients.
Complicated Bees
Complicated Bees supplies another route to materials through bee production. Bees are a long-term system rather than an emergency replacement for early mining. Secure food, housing and automation before committing to large breeding lines, and keep a written record of useful combinations so a failed experiment does not erase your progress.
Mekanism and Embers Rekindled
These technology systems support processing and automation. In Reclamation, their importance comes from modified recipes and gated interactions. Build only what the current quest or bottleneck requires; creating a large machine network before you have stable inputs can consume the very resources you are trying to multiply.

Enchanted: Witchcraft, Blood Magic and Nature’s Aura
The three magic-focused systems named by the project broaden how you generate and transform resources. Expect them to intersect with the pack’s other routes rather than replace them. Keep separate storage for magical components, seeds, bee products and machine outputs so that a recipe chain remains traceable.
Using the 500-plus questbook effectively
The official feature list advertises more than 500 handwritten quests. They provide structure and lore, but they are also your best reference for pack-specific recipes and gates.
- Read the reward and dependency text before consuming a rare item.
- Use quest descriptions to identify which mod is intended to solve a current bottleneck.
- Complete a small infrastructure objective before expanding your base; a later recipe change may make an early build obsolete.
- Record alternate routes when a quest offers more than one generation method.
- Do not assume a familiar vanilla or mod-guide recipe still applies; Reclamation changes recipes and progression.
Quest completion is not a substitute for understanding the production chain. If an objective gives you a new machine or seed, ask which input it multiplies and which upstream resource must become renewable first.
Reclamation versus Reclamation – Hardcore Edition
The Hardcore Edition is a separate Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge variant, not merely a difficulty toggle on the standard profile. Its official page highlights thirst and temperature mechanics and removes Mystical Agriculture, which shifts resource generation toward Theurgy automation, bees and other available routes.

Choose the standard edition if you want the broadest set of named agriculture and resource routes. Choose Hardcore if managing hydration and temperature is part of the challenge you want and you are comfortable losing Mystical Agriculture as a progression option.

The game crashes before the main menu
First verify the three identifiers: Minecraft 1.20.1, Reclamation 2.3.2 and the correct loader. A Forge/NeoForge mismatch is more likely than a world problem when the crash occurs during startup. Restore the unmodified imported profile before changing individual mods.

A player cannot join the server
Compare the client’s release, loader and mod list with the host. The server-pack filename includes the 2.3.2 release and hotfix designation; a client on another build can fail the handshake even if both installations say 1.20.1.
Recipes or quests appear missing
Make sure you launched the Reclamation profile rather than a neighboring Minecraft instance. Then check that no mods were removed or disabled. Reclamation’s recipes and gates are customized, so a generic mod installation can load the underlying mods while omitting the pack’s intended progression data.
The world feels impossible at the start
That difficulty is deliberate. Stop looking for a normal ore vein and return to the questbook’s earliest renewable-material objectives. Protect dirt, establish food and build the smallest processing chain that creates a repeatable input before attempting advanced machines or magic.
A world was created before the pack was installed
Start a new Reclamation world. The pack’s premise and progression depend on its world, recipe and quest configuration; adding it to an existing save can leave terrain and advancement data inconsistent.
What you need to play and what it costs
Reclamation is distributed as downloadable client and server files. No paid Reclamation add-on or physical product is identified as required. You do need access to a compatible Minecraft Java 1.20.1 installation and a launcher capable of loading the selected Forge or NeoForge profile.
For multiplayer, the additional requirement is the matching server-pack download and a host that can run Forge 1.20.1 with that package. Hosting prices, provider support and program terms change over time, so verify them directly before committing to a service.

- Choose Reclamation if you enjoy quest-led progression, constrained resources, automation and the satisfaction of turning a dead environment into a functioning production world.
- Bring a group if you want to divide responsibilities: one player can stabilize farming, another can develop processing, while others pursue magic or bees.
- Choose Hardcore Edition if thirst, temperature and a narrower resource-generation set sound like meaningful additions rather than chores.
- Skip it if you want conventional Minecraft mining, immediate access to familiar ores or a lightly modified survival experience.
