The Moto G96 5G is the stronger specification-sheet choice for a higher-refresh display, a larger stated battery, IP68 protection and a newer Android version with a published support commitment. The realme P1 Pro 5G makes more sense if faster listed charging, a charger in the box, Wi-Fi 6 or a lower price for the exact configuration you want matters more. Neither specification sheet establishes which phone performs better in everyday use, and the price gap is not fixed: compare the same RAM and storage variant using live seller listings.
At a glance: what each phone does better
This is an India-market comparison of manufacturer-listed specifications, not a hands-on review. On paper, the Moto G96 5G has advantages in display refresh rate, battery capacity, the stated protection rating and software support details. The realme P1 Pro 5G counters with higher stated charging wattage, a bundled adapter and Wi-Fi 6. The two phones have similar headline rear-camera resolutions, but those figures do not establish which takes better photographs.
| Priority | Specification-sheet advantage | What that means when choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Higher maximum display refresh rate | Moto G96 5G | Its listed maximum is higher; this does not by itself prove a visible difference in every app or use case. |
| Larger stated battery capacity | Moto G96 5G | It has more listed capacity, but capacity alone cannot predict screen-on time or endurance. |
| Higher charging wattage and included adapter | realme P1 Pro 5G | realme lists faster charging hardware and says the adapter is included; no comparable charge-time test is established here. |
| Water and dust protection listing | Moto G96 5G on paper | Motorola lists IP68. realme describes water protection equivalent to IP65, with qualifications. |
| Software version and stated maintenance period | Moto G96 5G | Motorola lists Android 15, one OS upgrade and three years of security maintenance. |
| Wi-Fi 6 | realme P1 Pro 5G | realme lists Wi-Fi 6; Motorola’s listed Wi-Fi standards do not include it. |
| Price | Depends on matching live offers | Listings vary by configuration, seller, stock and date, so there is no dependable universal price difference. |
These are conditional advantages, not a single overall winner. First identify the memory and storage version you can actually buy at your preferred seller; then decide which of the listed differences matters most to you.

Display: choose the experience, not just the maximum refresh number
Both phones are listed with curved FHD+ displays close to 6.7 inches, so neither has a major stated size advantage. Motorola identifies its panel as pOLED and lists a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz; realme lists a maximum of 120Hz. That gives the Moto G96 5G the higher refresh-rate specification, which may appeal if scrolling and supported games are high priorities.
A maximum refresh rate is not a guarantee that every screen, app or game will run at that rate all the time. Actual behavior can depend on settings, software, the app and the content being shown. The specifications supplied here do not establish brightness, color accuracy, outdoor readability, touch response, dimming behavior or how frequently either phone uses its maximum refresh rate. If those qualities are decisive, a spec comparison alone cannot settle the question.
For a buyer who mainly watches video or browses, the shared curved FHD+ format and similar size may matter more than the difference in maximum refresh rate. If you are sensitive to screen shape or accidental touches around curved edges, try each model in person if possible rather than assuming that one curved panel will suit you better.
Performance: chipset names are not a benchmark
The realme P1 Pro 5G lists a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 with a maximum clock speed of up to 2.2GHz. The Moto G96 5G lists a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 manufactured on a 4nm process. These details identify the platforms, but they are not a controlled comparison of speed, sustained performance, gaming frame rates, heat or battery use.
There are no comparable benchmark results or real-world tests established for this comparison. Do not translate the processor names or process-node figure into a definite claim that one phone opens apps faster, handles demanding games better or stays cooler. RAM and storage configuration also matter to the version you buy, and a like-for-like price check should use the same configuration wherever both are offered.
If gaming or intensive multitasking is your main reason for choosing, look for independent tests of the exact retail variants and software versions before deciding. For ordinary app use, the listed chipsets alone are not enough to predict a meaningful difference for your own workload.
Battery and charging: capacity and charging speed answer different questions
The Moto G96 5G has the larger stated battery capacity, while the realme P1 Pro 5G lists higher charging wattage and includes a matching adapter according to realme. Those are separate advantages: capacity is a hardware figure, while charging wattage is a stated charging capability. Neither number tells you how many hours a phone will last or exactly how long a full charge takes.

Real-world endurance depends on factors such as display settings, signal strength, app use, temperature and software. Charge time can also vary with the battery’s starting level, temperature and charging behavior. The available specifications do not provide comparable battery-life or charging-time test results, so do not treat the capacity or wattage difference as proof of a specific number of extra hours or minutes saved.
If you want the convenience of having a charger included, realme explicitly says its 45W adapter is in the box. Check the exact retail package and regional listing before purchase, especially if buying through a marketplace seller. Motorola specifies 33W TurboPower, but the supplied comparison details do not establish whether a charging adapter is included with every Moto G96 5G sale.
Cameras: similar main-camera resolution does not mean identical results
Both phones list a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultrawide. realme identifies its main sensor as the Sony LYT-600; Motorola names the Sony Lytia 700C. Motorola additionally describes autofocus and macro vision for its ultrawide module. This is a feature distinction on the spec sheet, not evidence that its ultrawide images or close-ups are better.
The listed selfie resolution is higher on the Moto G96 5G, but megapixel count alone does not establish sharpness, exposure, skin tones, low-light performance or video quality. Similarly, OIS is a hardware feature that can help stabilize camera movement, but the information here does not show how either phone performs in difficult light or while recording video.
There is no camera test in this comparison. If camera quality is central to your decision, seek sample photos and video from independent reviewers using the same models, and pay attention to the kinds of scenes you shoot. The specifications are useful for identifying camera hardware and features; they cannot substitute for image comparisons.

Software support: compare the stated commitment, not an assumption
realme lists the P1 Pro with realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. Motorola lists the Moto G96 5G with Android 15 and specifies one OS upgrade plus three years of security maintenance. That makes Motorola’s stated upgrade and security-maintenance position more explicit in the available product information.
The Motorola commitment should be read exactly as stated: one OS upgrade and three years of security maintenance. It is not a basis for promising a particular future Android version or support beyond that period. No equivalent OS-upgrade or security-maintenance duration is established here for the realme P1 Pro, so do not infer one from the Android version alone.
Software version and update commitment can affect how long a buyer is comfortable keeping a phone, but product pages may not answer every question about rollout timing, regional availability or exact update schedules. If those details matter, verify current India support information with the manufacturer before buying.

Motorola lists an IP68 rating for the Moto G96 5G. realme describes the P1 Pro’s water protection as equivalent to IP65 based on lab testing and cautions users not to charge the handset when wet. These claims are not identical and should not be collapsed into a general promise that either phone is safe in every water-related situation.
A protection rating does not mean that liquid damage is impossible, nor does the information here establish warranty coverage for water damage. Follow the manufacturer’s care and warranty terms, and do not intentionally expose either phone to water on the assumption that a rating guarantees repair or continued operation. In particular, heed realme’s instruction not to charge its phone while wet.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Connectivity and handling
realme lists Wi-Fi 6, while Motorola’s listed Wi-Fi standards extend through 802.11ac on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. If you have a Wi-Fi 6 router and care about using a phone with that standard, the realme listing is the relevant distinction. The presence of a newer Wi-Fi standard does not by itself guarantee higher internet speed; router capability, broadband service, signal and network conditions all matter.
Both manufacturers list Bluetooth 5.2. Motorola states that NFC is not available on the Moto G96 5G, so do not choose it expecting NFC-based uses such as tap-to-pay from the handset. The supplied realme specifications do not establish NFC availability either; confirm the exact model’s India connectivity details if NFC is essential rather than assuming that one phone has it.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Motorola lists the lighter weight at 178g. realme lists approximately 184g and notes measurement tolerance. The difference is modest on paper, and perceived comfort can depend more on balance, case choice and hand size than on the listed figures alone. Both are around the same broad screen-size class, so try their shape and grip if comfort is a deciding factor.
Price difference: compare matching configurations and live stock
There is no single dependable price gap between these phones in the available listings. A 91mobiles comparison page crawled shortly before this research listed the realme P1 Pro at ₹15,999 and the Moto G96 5G at ₹27,989 via Amazon; that page marked the realme out of stock. Smartprix showed different lower figures, including ₹22,585 for the Moto and ₹15,999 for the realme, and a variant-specific page showed another Moto price. These are snapshots from different pages, not directly interchangeable offers.
Gadgets 360’s price snapshot labeled “As of 11 September 2026” listed realme P1 Pro configurations from ₹14,499 to ₹22,990. That is a range across configurations recorded on that date, not a guaranteed current price for every seller or a direct comparison with a particular Moto variant. The displayed figures above can change as listings, stock and promotions change; the available details do not establish a same-day, same-variant price for both phones.
How to make a fair price comparison
- Choose the configuration first. Note the RAM and storage capacity you actually want. Do not compare a lower-capacity version of one phone with a higher-capacity version of the other and call the difference a model-level price gap.
- Check live listings on the same day. Record the displayed price, seller, stock status and configuration for each phone. A listing that is out of stock is not an offer you can reliably buy.
- Compare the final checkout cost. Look for delivery charges, bank or exchange offers, coupon conditions and any requirements attached to a discount. Treat a conditional promotion separately from the ordinary listed price.
- Verify the seller and package. Confirm the exact model and variant, return terms and included accessories. Do not assume that different marketplace listings have the same seller, stock or box contents.
- Recalculate before ordering. If either configuration or offer changes at checkout, the earlier comparison no longer answers which is cheaper for your purchase.
With this method, the price decision is straightforward: choose the better-value phone at the configuration and final price you can actually buy, rather than relying on a comparison page’s headline figure. The figures cited here are useful context for why listings can disagree, but they are not a live quote.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Moto G96 5G if
- You value the higher listed maximum refresh rate and want the pOLED panel specification.
- The larger stated battery capacity is more attractive to you than higher charging wattage, while recognizing that neither spec proves real-world endurance.
- You prioritize Motorola’s IP68 listing and want an explicit software statement of Android 15, one OS upgrade and three years of security maintenance.
- You are comfortable with the verified price of your preferred RAM and storage version, and do not need NFC.
Consider the realme P1 Pro 5G if
- You prefer its higher listed charging wattage and value realme’s stated inclusion of a 45W adapter.
- Wi-Fi 6 is useful for your network setup.
- You find a lower live offer for the same RAM and storage tier, from a seller and with stock you are comfortable buying from.
- You are satisfied with the protection and software information realme publishes for this model, and with the absence of a stated update duration in the comparison details here.
Use a short decision checklist
- Compare the same RAM and storage variant at the same time, including seller and availability.
- Decide whether you value the Moto’s higher screen refresh listing and larger battery capacity more than realme’s faster stated charging and included adapter.
- Check whether the software support commitment or the water-protection listing affects how long and where you plan to use the phone.
- Confirm connectivity requirements, especially NFC on the Moto and Wi-Fi 6 on realme.
- If gaming, photography, battery life or charging speed will decide the purchase, seek comparable independent tests: the listed specifications do not answer those performance questions.
For a specification-led choice, the Moto G96 5G has the broader set of advantages if its verified price fits your budget. The realme P1 Pro 5G is a sensible alternative when charging convenience, Wi-Fi 6 or a genuinely lower matching-variant offer matters more. This verdict reflects listed specifications, not hands-on testing.
