In Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode, unlock the camp fast-travel map in Chapter 2 by buying two lodging upgrades for a combined $545 in-game. Until then, paid stagecoach and train rides can move Arthur between supported stops. Cheat phrases are a separate feature: activating one disables saving and Trophies or Achievements for that session, so save first.
How to unlock fast travel in Story Mode
Progress through Chapter 2 until the camp ledger becomes available after your first debt-collection task for Leopold Strauss. At the ledger, purchase the following lodging upgrades:

- Buy Dutch’s “First Things First” upgrade for $220 in-game.
- Buy Arthur’s “Next in Line” upgrade for $325 in-game.
The two upgrades cost $545 in-game altogether. Once unlocked, the map sits beside Arthur’s wagon. RDR2.org’s guide says it lets Arthur travel to places he has already discovered; it is not a way to teleport to a custom waypoint. These instructions reflect the guide updated August 5, 2026, rather than hands-on testing: RDR2.org’s fast-travel guide.

The fast-travel guide says Arthur’s horse comes along on camp or wilderness trips when it is close enough. It does not establish one universal price for stagecoach or train rides; check the fare and destination options at the stop.

How to travel hands-free without teleporting
For a long ride along a road, Rockstar Games’ November 5, 2018 Quick Tips says: “Simply navigate to a main road, set a waypoint on your map and build up some speed before switching to Cinematic Camera to travel hands-free.” This is automated riding along the route, not fast travel: Arthur still travels through the world, and controller details can vary by platform.
What to know before activating a cheat
Cheats are for Story Mode, not Red Dead Online. According to RDR2.org’s guide updated August 5, 2026, activating a cheat disables saving and Trophies or Achievements for that session. Make a manual save before you activate one; do not rely on saving afterward to preserve progress from that session.

Entering a phrase and activating its cheat are distinct actions. The guide says a code can be entered and saved in the Cheats menu without activating it; the session restriction applies when you activate a cheat. Some phrases require a particular newspaper, punctuation matters, and capitalization does not, according to the guide. Check prerequisites before using a code: RDR2.org’s cheat guide.

The cheats alter gameplay; they are not substitutes for unlocking travel options. If you want to keep progressing and earning achievements in a session, leave cheats inactive.
