If your Xfinity X1 TV Box displays RDK-03033, check for a service interruption, inspect the box’s connections and placement, then restart it. Xfinity labels the error “We’re Having Trouble Connecting,” but the message alone does not identify a single cause or prove that your home internet is down.
What RDK-03033 means
Xfinity describes RDK-03033 as a connection problem. Its on-screen message reads: “Something’s not working. Sorry about that. We’ll have this fixed shortly so please try again later. RDK 03033.” Xfinity notes that video error messages can relate to system or account issues; the code by itself does not establish whether the cause is an outage, a connection, or the TV Box. Xfinity’s RDK-03033 guidance does not identify one universal cause.
How to troubleshoot RDK-03033
Work through these checks in order. If there is a provider-side interruption, repeatedly restarting the box is unlikely to resolve it.

Check internet connectivity and service status
Confirm whether your internet connection is working, then check for a local service interruption using the Xfinity status page or the Xfinity app. If Xfinity reports an interruption, wait for service to return before continuing with repeated restarts.

Check the cables and box placement
Make sure the applicable connections are firmly attached. If your setup uses coaxial cable, check that it is secure at both the wall outlet and the TV Box. If the box connects over Wi-Fi, move it out of a cabinet and away from objects that could obstruct the signal.
These are checks, not proof that a loose cable or blocked Wi-Fi signal caused the error. Replace a coaxial lead only if it is visibly damaged or will not stay connected; Xfinity’s guidance is to secure connections, not to buy a replacement cable.

Restart the TV Box
Unplug the TV Box, wait one to two minutes, and plug it back in. If you cannot unplug it, try saying “Restart TV Box” into the Xfinity Voice Remote, or hold the TV Box’s power button if that option is available on your device.

Contact Xfinity if the error remains
If the same issue continues after four hours, Xfinity directs customers to Xfinity Assistant for help and agent chat. Its general TV and Internet troubleshooting guidance also points to the Assistant for guided steps, possible agent connection, or appointment scheduling.

What to avoid assuming
- It does not necessarily mean your home internet is down. Check connectivity and the provider’s service status rather than treating the code as a definitive internet diagnosis.
- It does not prove the coaxial cable or TV Box is defective. Check connections and restart the box, but do not replace equipment based on the code alone.
- A restart is not a fix for every cause. If the issue is a service interruption or another system or account problem, Xfinity may need to resolve it.
