The Razer Kiyo V2 Pro is a USB-C 4K webcam aimed at Windows users who need high frame rates, a wide adjustable view and HDR. Razer’s published specification confirms Windows 10 or later, USB 3.0-compatible direct connection, 4K video up to 60 frames per second and HDR at 30 frames per second. It also lists a built-in stereo microphone, although a recent independent review contradicts that microphone claim.

What the Razer Kiyo V2 Pro requires

Razer’s technical specification sets out four practical requirements: Windows 10 or later, a direct USB-C connection compatible with USB 3.0, internet access and 500 MB of free storage. The camera uses a detachable USB-C-to-USB-C cable, so the computer or hub must provide a suitable USB-C port. A USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee USB 3.0 bandwidth; a slower port, adapter or hub can prevent the camera from operating at its highest modes.

Officially listed applications

Razer explicitly lists OBS and XSplit as compatible. The product FAQ also names Zoom and Microsoft Teams. In those applications, select the Kiyo V2 Pro in the camera or video settings after connecting it. If the camera does not appear, close software that may already have exclusive access to it, reconnect the cable directly to the computer and reopen the application.

Windows setup procedure

  1. Install pending Windows updates and confirm that at least 500 MB of storage is free.
  2. Connect the supplied USB-C cable directly to a USB-C port that supports USB 3.0 or faster data.
  3. Allow Windows to detect the webcam before opening OBS, XSplit, Zoom or Teams.
  4. Open the application’s video settings and choose Razer Kiyo V2 Pro as the camera source.
  5. Choose a resolution and frame rate that the application, USB connection and computer can sustain. Start with 1080p at 30 or 60 FPS if you are troubleshooting, then move to 1440p or 4K.
  6. If you intend to use the microphone, select the Kiyo V2 Pro audio input separately and make a short recording before a live call or stream.

What is not officially confirmed

The Razer specification located for this model names Windows 10 or later and does not publish a complete macOS or console compatibility matrix. Therefore, macOS and console operation should be treated as unconfirmed for the exact Kiyo V2 Pro until Razer documents it. An independent review mentioning that a device worked with macOS is not the same as an official compatibility guarantee, and firmware or application behavior can change.

Supported resolutions, frame rates and codecs

Razer lists the following capture modes. The maximum mode is 4K at 60 FPS, while HDR is separately limited to 30 FPS.

Resolution Supported frame rates
4K 60, 30 FPS
1440p 60, 30 FPS
1080p 60, 30, 24 FPS
720p 60, 30 FPS

The specification lists MJPEG and H.264 up to 4K/60. NV12 is listed up to 4K/30. Codec availability can depend on the application and operating-system camera framework, so an application may expose fewer choices than the camera supports. If 4K/60 is missing, verify that the application is using the Kiyo V2 Pro rather than an integrated camera and that the connection is direct and USB 3.0-compatible.

Choosing a mode for common uses

  • Live calls: 1080p at 30 FPS generally leaves more bandwidth and processing headroom than 4K. The service may reduce the stream further according to the call plan or network conditions.
  • Motion-heavy presentations: 1080p or 1440p at 60 FPS can make hand movement and demonstrations look smoother when the application accepts that rate.
  • Recorded detail: 4K at 30 or 60 FPS provides the most pixels, but it creates larger data and processing demands than lower resolutions.
  • Low-light scenes with HDR: select a mode that allows HDR, remembering that Razer specifies HDR at 30 FPS rather than 60 FPS.

What is the Kiyo V2 Pro’s field of view?

Razer specifies an 86-degree diagonal field of view. It is a wide-angle lens and is configurable in software, allowing you to adjust how much of the room appears in frame without physically moving the camera. The regional specification gives the lens a 4.8 mm focal length, equivalent to 24 mm on a full-frame camera.

Using the adjustable view effectively

  • Use the wider setting when two people, a whiteboard or a product demonstration must fit in the shot.
  • Narrow the view for a single-person call when you want less of the room visible and a more focused composition.
  • Place the lens near eye level and center it before changing the digital view. A very wide setting can make objects near the edges look more exaggerated.
  • Check the framing in the same application you will use for the call or stream, because software may crop or resize the camera feed.

The 86-degree figure is diagonal, not horizontal. It should not be converted to a horizontal angle without knowing the image aspect ratio and crop being used by the application.

Does the Kiyo V2 Pro support HDR?

Yes. Razer’s technical specification states “HDR Support | Yes (at 30 FPS).” The product page also markets Ultra-High Dynamic Range HDR alongside 4K 60FPS video, but the detailed specification is the controlling qualification for frame rate: HDR is documented at 30 FPS, and Razer does not state HDR operation at 60 FPS.

What the 30-FPS limit means

HDR and frame rate are separate settings. You may be able to capture ordinary video at 4K/60, yet need to switch to a 30-FPS mode when HDR is enabled. Do not assume that selecting 4K/60 automatically preserves HDR. Look for an HDR toggle or picture mode in the camera software, then confirm the reported frame rate in the application preview or recording information.

When HDR helps

HDR is most useful when the scene contains bright windows, lamps or displays together with a darker face. It can preserve more visible detail across those extremes. It cannot replace adequate front lighting, and it may change the camera’s processing or color appearance. For a fast-moving stream where 60 FPS is the priority, use a non-HDR mode unless your software explicitly reports both features together; the published specification does not establish that combination.

Does it have a built-in microphone?

Razer’s technical specification says yes. It identifies a built-in stereo microphone with an omnidirectional polar pattern and 16-bit/48 kHz audio. Those are the manufacturer’s published product details, so Windows users should expect an audio input associated with the webcam and can select it independently from the video source.

A published discrepancy to be aware of

Tom’s Guide’s review dated October 16, 2026 says, “The Razer Kiyo V2 Pro doesn’t feature a built-in microphone.” That directly conflicts with Razer’s own specification. For the product claim, Razer’s specification is the authoritative statement available here; the review should be treated as a warning to verify the physical unit and software rather than as proof that every Kiyo V2 Pro lacks a microphone.

How to verify your individual unit

  1. Connect the webcam and open Windows sound input settings.
  2. Look for an audio device labeled Razer Kiyo V2 Pro or a similar Razer webcam input.
  3. Select it, speak at a normal distance and watch the input meter respond.
  4. Record a short clip in the calling or streaming application and listen for voice, background noise and distortion.
  5. If no webcam microphone appears, use a separate headset or USB microphone and select that device for audio while keeping the Kiyo V2 Pro selected for video.

The listed 16-bit/48 kHz format describes the specification, not a guarantee that every conferencing service will transmit that rate. Services often resample or compress audio.

Can it work with OBS, Zoom, Teams and XSplit?

Yes, these applications are named by Razer: OBS and XSplit appear in the compatibility information, while the product FAQ also names Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The webcam is still subject to each application’s own resolution, frame-rate, codec and bandwidth limits.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

OBS

  1. Add a Video Capture Device source.
  2. Choose Razer Kiyo V2 Pro from the device list.
  3. Set the resolution and FPS to a supported combination, or use Device Default while testing.
  4. Check the camera’s properties and the OBS preview before starting the stream.

If OBS shows a black frame, remove duplicate camera sources, close other applications using the webcam and test a lower mode such as 1080p/30.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Open the application’s video settings before joining a meeting, select the Kiyo V2 Pro and preview the image. Select the webcam microphone only if Windows exposes it and your test confirms that it works. Otherwise, choose your headset or another microphone for audio. Meeting services can impose their own limits, so a camera configured for 4K/60 may be sent to participants at a lower resolution or frame rate.

XSplit

Add the Kiyo V2 Pro as a camera source, then choose a supported resolution and FPS. Verify that no other scene or source is reserving the device. If a high mode fails, step down to 1440p or 1080p before changing unrelated settings.

Monitor placement

Rest the L-shaped mount on the top edge of the monitor, adjust the tilt so the lens is level with your eyes and confirm that the cable can reach the computer without tension. The mount is fixed to the camera, so repositioning the assembly is preferable to forcing the hinge or cable into an awkward angle.

Tripod placement

Attach the 1/4-inch thread to a compatible tripod or stand, tighten it only enough to hold the camera securely and check the frame at the final distance. A tripod can place the lens at eye level when a monitor mount would sit too low or too high. The specification confirms the thread size but does not identify a particular third-party tripod.

Troubleshooting checklist

The computer does not detect the camera

  • Reconnect the detachable cable at both ends.
  • Move from a hub or adapter to a direct USB-C port with USB 3.0 compatibility.
  • Close camera applications, reconnect the device and reopen the intended application.
  • Try 1080p/30 after detection; a lower mode helps distinguish a bandwidth problem from a recognition problem.

4K or 60 FPS is unavailable

  • Confirm that the application supports the selected resolution and frame rate.
  • Check whether another source, virtual camera or capture setting is limiting the mode.
  • Use the MJPEG or H.264 option where the application exposes codec choices; both are listed up to 4K/60.
  • Remember that NV12 is listed only up to 4K/30.

The image is too wide or poorly framed

Adjust the configurable field of view in software, then move the mount or tripod rather than relying on extreme digital cropping. Recheck the diagonal 86-degree specification against the aspect ratio used by your application.

HDR looks wrong or will not enable

Switch to a 30-FPS mode, because HDR is specified at 30 FPS. Add front lighting and avoid placing a bright window directly behind the subject. If the HDR control remains unavailable, test the camera in another supported application to determine whether the limitation comes from the software.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

No microphone appears

Check Windows input devices and the application’s audio menu. If the webcam microphone is absent despite the manufacturer specification, use a separate microphone for the session and preserve the Kiyo V2 Pro for video. Keep the discrepancy in mind when deciding whether this model can replace a headset.

Who should choose the Kiyo V2 Pro?

It fits Windows users who want a wide, configurable 86-degree view, 4K capture up to 60 FPS and a monitor-or-tripod mounting option. It is particularly suitable when a direct USB-C/USB 3.0 connection is available and when the user can work within HDR’s documented 30-FPS limit.

Before relying on it as an all-in-one camera and audio device, verify the microphone on the exact unit. Razer lists stereo omnidirectional 16-bit/48 kHz audio, while the October 16, 2026 Tom’s Guide review reports no built-in microphone. Users who need guaranteed audio should plan a separate headset or microphone until their own Windows input test confirms the webcam’s audio device.
