The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Low-Profile Tenkeyless 8KHz pairs a slim, short-travel design with adjustable analog optical input features aimed at competitive play. Windows Central’s reviewer found it crisp to type on and responsive in games, but its wired-only connection, premium price and specialized controls make it a better fit for some players than others.

What is the Huntsman V3 Pro Low-Profile TKL?

Razer announced the Huntsman V3 Pro Low-Profile Tenkeyless 8KHz on August 20, 2026. It is a wired gaming keyboard with a tenkeyless layout, meaning it omits the number pad, and it is distinct from the full-height Huntsman V3 Pro TKL. Razer’s product details are available on its official product page and in its launch announcement.

The central trade-off is straightforward: you get a slim keyboard with unusually configurable key input, but not wireless use or the deeper travel of a conventional full-height board. Whether its competitive features translate into a better result depends on your settings, game, hardware and comfort with a low-profile typing feel.

How slim is it, and what does the short travel mean?

Razer specifies 2.8 mm of total key travel and a 19.5 mm front height. The keyboard uses Razer Low-profile Analog Optical Switches, with actuation adjustable from 0.1 to 2.8 mm. Actuation is the point in a keypress at which the keyboard registers an input; a lower setting registers a press sooner, while a higher setting requires more travel.

Razer Huntsman V3 Pro TKL Esports Gaming Keyboard, Black
  • CHOSEN BY PRO’S FOR ADVANCED FPS MOVEMENT — With Rapid Trigger, Adjustable Actuation and Razer Snap Tap, the Huntsman V3 Pro offers lightning-fast, precise movements that provides gamers an unbeatable edge especially in FPS games
  • RAZER SNAP TAP — Prioritize the latest input between two selected keys without having to release the previous one, and enjoy more responsive inputs for near-instant directional changes in FPS games (latest firmware update required)
  • RAPID TRIGGER — A step up from traditional mechanical or optical keyboards to achieve the most responsive and precise inputs; reset keys at the slightest lift of a finger, and experience an advantage in speed that is especially useful for movement in competitive FPS games
  • ANALOG OPTICAL SWITCHES GEN-2 — Max out on precision and response with advanced switches for ultra fast repeated inputs, a 0.1–4.0 mm adjustable actuation range, and a 100 million keystroke lifespan
  • QUICK ONBOARD ADJUSTMENTS — Make precise, on-the-fly adjustments to actuation height or Rapid Trigger sensitivity with the visual aid of an onboard LED array while saving the settings to the keyboard with no software required

The official product page lists a 40 g actuation force, with that figure tied to the default 1.5 mm actuation setting. That qualification matters: key feel and when the press registers can change with the selected setting. Short travel and low front height may suit people who like a slimmer typing position, but comfort is personal and is not guaranteed by a keyboard’s dimensions.

What do the input features actually do?

The feature set gives players options to change how keys register and reset, rather than making every input automatically faster or more accurate. Razer describes these controls on its product page and announcement.

  • PRO-LEVEL SPEED AND PRECISION — Gain ultra-fast repeated inputs with Gen‑2 Razer Analog Optical Switches featuring Rapid Trigger and a 0.1–4.0 mm adjustable actuation range for competitive FPS and esports play
  • CLEANER MOVEMENT IN CLUTCH MOMENTS — Execute faster directional changes with Razer Snap Tap, which prioritizes your intended input when two assigned keys are pressed simultaneously during intense gameplay
  • True 8000 Hz Polling for near-zero latency - Gain a split-second advantage over your opponents with a blistering polling rate 8 times faster than the industry standard. Experience the fastest response and pull off every play without delay.
  • NEAR-ZERO INPUT LATENCY — React instantly with true 8000 Hz HyperPolling, delivering response times up to 8× faster than standard gaming keyboards for split-second advantages in shooters and competitive titles
  • ONBOARD PERFORMANCE TUNING — Adjust actuation height and Rapid Trigger sensitivity directly on the keyboard using the number row, then save settings to onboard memory with no software required
  • Adjustable actuation: Set the registration depth between 0.1 and 2.8 mm. Shallow actuation can reduce the distance a finger moves before a press registers, but may also make accidental presses more likely if the setting does not suit your typing.
  • Rapid Trigger: A key can reset in response to upward movement instead of waiting to reach a fixed reset point. The setting is configurable and, according to Razer’s FAQ, is not enabled on the factory-default profile.
  • Snap Flex: Assign a different action to a keypress and key release. This enables programmable input behaviors; it does not guarantee that a complex maneuver will be easier for every player.
  • Dynamic Keystroke: Assign actions based on how far a key is pressed, allowing different actions at different depths.
  • Dual-Keypress Priority: Help resolve simultaneous directional inputs, a potentially useful behavior in games where opposing directions can be pressed together.
  • True 8000 Hz HyperPolling: Set the polling rate in Razer Synapse. A higher polling rate means the keyboard can report input more frequently to the computer; it does not by itself establish a particular end-to-end response time.

Windows Central also discusses Snap Tap and configuration through Synapse Web in its hands-on review. The practical value of these options depends on whether a game supports the behaviors, how you configure them and whether they match your habits.

How strong is the speed claim?

Razer reports an average latency of 0.39 ms and says that result was 52% lower than the nearest keyboard in its comparison. Those are manufacturer-reported figures, not an independent benchmark. Razer says it ran 20 measurements with all keyboards set to 0.1 mm actuation and measured from switch actuation to signal receipt at the host USB port. The company also cautions that end-to-end latency varies with the test setup and devices.

  • TENKEYLESS TOURNAMENT-READY LAYOUT – Enjoy more space for low-sensitivity mouse movement with a streamlined TKL gaming keyboard design that retains essential keys for esports, FPS gaming, LAN events, and competitive setups

That measurement covers a defined part of the input path; it is not a universal figure for the time between a player pressing a key and seeing a result in a game. No independently conducted comparative latency result for this exact low-profile model is established in the reviewed coverage. Windows Central’s reviewer did describe gaming responsiveness positively after two weeks of use, but that is an individual hands-on impression, not a controlled latency test.

What is it like to use?

Windows Central reviewer Daniel Rubino reported a crisp typing feel, short travel and responsive gaming performance after two weeks with the keyboard. The review also notes an aluminum top plate, doubleshot PBT keycaps, per-key RGB lighting, a multifunction dial and media buttons. Its USB-C cable is detachable and braided, but the keyboard itself is wired and no wrist rest is included.

Who should buy it?

It makes sense if you

  • Want a wired, low-profile TKL and prefer a slim typing experience.
  • Expect to use adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger or other configurable input behaviors in supported games.
  • Value high polling and extensive input tuning enough to accept a premium purchase.

Look elsewhere if you

  • Need a wireless keyboard.
  • Prefer deeper, traditional key travel.
  • Do not expect to use the advanced input controls and would rather spend less on a simpler keyboard.
