Razer’s Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed – Kuromi Edition turns the Sanrio character’s head into a three-dimensional charging case. The earbuds are not just a cosmetic recolor: the case has Kuromi’s hood-covered ears, skull-bow detail and a charging LED positioned at her widow’s peak. Underneath the novelty is a genuine gaming audio setup with 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth 5.3 and support for mobile devices, PC, PlayStation 5 and Steam Deck.
A Kuromi head is the charging case
Razer announced the earbuds on September 29, 2026, as part of its Sanrio collaboration and described them as its first Kuromi-themed gaming earbuds. Availability began October 13 through Razer.com and selected RazerStores in select countries, so local stock and release timing can differ.
The case is the headline feature. Instead of putting character artwork on a conventional earbud case, Razer sculpted the enclosure to resemble Kuromi’s head. Her hood-covered ears and three-dimensional skull-bow motif are built into the shape, while the case LED sits in the widow’s-peak area. A USB-C port on the bottom handles charging.
Razer describes the colorway as lilac and black, with Kuromi’s skull emblem detailed on each earbud stem. That makes the “decapitated Kuromi” description unusually literal: the character’s head is the part you carry around, open and close to dock the earbuds.

What the earbuds actually do
Two wireless modes
The Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed – Kuromi Edition combines Razer’s 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed Wireless with Bluetooth 5.3. The 2.4 GHz connection is intended for low-latency gaming, while Bluetooth is suited to everyday devices such as phones and tablets. Razer SmartSwitch lets you move between the 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connections.
The HyperSpeed Case serves two jobs: it charges the earbuds and houses the wireless receiver. Platform support includes mobile devices, PC, PlayStation 5 and Steam Deck, although the available connection method depends on the device. Razer’s compatibility listing does not mean every platform receives identical features or uses the same wireless path.

Audio, controls and protection
- Razer lists THX Spatial Audio with immersive 7.1.4 surround sound on PC.
- Touch controls handle earbud functions without requiring a separate controller.
- The case LED communicates charging, pairing and alert states.
- IPX4 water resistance is designed to help with sweat, rain and everyday spills; it is not a rating for submersion.
Battery life and charging
Razer rates the system for up to 35 hours in total: up to 10 hours from the earbuds plus up to 25 additional hours from the charging case. “Up to” is a manufacturer rating, so actual runtime varies with volume, wireless mode and other use conditions.
USB-C passthrough allows the earbuds to remain usable while the case is charging. That is useful at a desk or beside a console when the case itself has run low.

Price: what the extra $20 buys
GamesRadar+ reported a launch price of $119.99 in 2026, which it identified as $20 more than the plain version of the earbuds. The premium is therefore paying for the Kuromi-specific industrial design and licensed character treatment rather than a separately stated increase in battery capacity or wireless standards.

For someone who would buy the regular earbuds anyway and genuinely wants Kuromi on the desk, the surcharge is a straightforward collectible premium. For a buyer choosing purely on audio hardware, the available specifications do not establish a technical reason to pay more.

PC is the platform where Razer specifically lists THX Spatial Audio with 7.1.4 surround sound. Use the HyperSpeed receiver for the low-latency gaming connection.

Razer lists PS5 compatibility. Because support varies by connection method, check the included receiver and the console’s USB setup before assuming every Bluetooth feature will be available.

Steam Deck
Steam Deck is also listed as compatible. The practical choice is generally the 2.4 GHz receiver for gaming latency or Bluetooth 5.3 when convenience matters more, subject to the Deck’s ports and your preferred setup.
Phones and other mobile devices
Bluetooth 5.3 provides the everyday connection for mobile devices. SmartSwitch is intended to simplify moving between the Bluetooth device and the HyperSpeed connection.
