Choose the BlackShark V3 if you need the more advanced feature set for gaming and calls, including simultaneous wireless audio, game/chat balancing, THX Spatial Audio and the super-wideband microphone. Choose the BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed if you want 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth and USB in a simpler package, do not need simultaneous audio, and value its published 70-hour 2.4 GHz battery claim.
Both are wireless gaming headsets with detachable microphones and USB connectivity. The important difference is not the number of connection options; it is what you can do with those connections and how much audio control each model exposes. The specifications below come from Razer, not from an independent sound, microphone, latency or comfort test.
Quick answer: which BlackShark should you buy?
Buy the BlackShark V3 when you need advanced mixing
The BlackShark V3 is the better fit for a player who wants to hear a game over 2.4 GHz while remaining connected to a phone over Bluetooth, adjust the game/chat balance, monitor the microphone, or use Razer’s THX Spatial Audio 7.1.4 and pro-tuned profiles. Its product page also specifies a titanium version of the 50 mm Gen-2 driver and a HyperClear Super Wideband microphone.
Buy the BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed for the simpler, longer-listed setup
The BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed retains the three basic connection methods—2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth and USB—and has a detachable 9.9 mm HyperClear Cardioid microphone. Razer lists up to 70 hours of use over 2.4 GHz for this model. It is the sensible choice when the V3’s mixing and spatial-audio features are unnecessary and you are comfortable switching between, rather than combining, its wireless modes.

Do not choose on weight or unverified sound claims
Razer lists 270 g for the V3 and approximately 270 g for the X HyperSpeed, so the published specifications do not establish a weight advantage. There is also no controlled, independent comparison in the available material to prove that either headset sounds better, isolates noise better, feels more comfortable, or delivers the advertised latency in every setup.
The key difference: simultaneous 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth audio
The V3 supports simultaneous audio from its 2.4 GHz wireless link and Bluetooth connection, according to Razer’s BlackShark V3 product page. In practical terms, you can use the low-latency gaming connection while staying linked to another Bluetooth device. That is useful for taking a phone call, hearing a notification or keeping a second device available without disconnecting the headset from the game.
The X HyperSpeed does not combine those sources. Razer’s official FAQ states, “No, there is no simultaneous audio.” Its operating model is a toggle between HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth. If your routine requires two sources at once, that limitation is decisive; changing software equalizer settings cannot add the missing function.
USB remains a separate wired option on both models. The presence of USB therefore does not make the X HyperSpeed simultaneous: the published restriction concerns using its two wireless modes together.

Audio hardware and software: what changes between the models?
Drivers and sound profiles
Razer describes the V3’s drivers as TriForce Titanium 50 mm Gen-2. The X HyperSpeed uses TriForce 50 mm Gen-2 drivers. That wording identifies a different diaphragm construction, but it does not predict a guaranteed preference for bass, detail or positional imaging. Room noise, ear shape, seal, game mix and equalizer settings all affect what an individual hears.
The V3 page lists THX Spatial Audio 7.1.4 and pro-tuned profiles. These are configuration options for people who want different processing for games or other content. The X HyperSpeed page describes a 7.1 Surround Sound feature, while its FAQ says 7.1 and EQ tuning require Razer Synapse on a Windows PC. If you play primarily on a console, treat the Windows requirement as a capability boundary rather than assuming the PC software follows the headset to every platform.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Microphone design
Both microphones are detachable and specified at 9.9 mm, but their documented designs differ. The V3 uses a HyperClear Super Wideband microphone; the X HyperSpeed uses a HyperClear Cardioid microphone. “Super Wideband” and “Cardioid” describe different design goals, not a laboratory ranking. The available specifications do not include frequency-response charts, background-noise rejection tests or speech samples, so do not promise that one will sound better for every voice or room.
Game/chat balance and monitoring
Razer lists game-chat balance and mic monitoring for the V3. Those controls matter when you need to lower a game’s volume without losing a teammate’s voice or want to hear your own microphone level while speaking. They are functional workflow differences, not merely branding. The X HyperSpeed material lists the detachable microphone and Windows Synapse enhancements but does not list the V3’s balance and monitoring features; confirm the exact control set if those functions are central to your setup.
Connections and platform considerations
2.4 GHz HyperSpeed Wireless
Both headsets include a dedicated 2.4 GHz wireless mode intended for gaming and both retain USB as a wired alternative. Razer describes the V3’s HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 latency as “as low as 10 ms.” For the X HyperSpeed, Razer Support lists a 25 ms minimum 2.4 GHz latency. Because the figures use different wording and are not reported from a common test, they should not be treated as a directly comparable benchmark.

Bluetooth behavior
Bluetooth expands compatibility with phones, tablets and other devices. The X HyperSpeed support specification identifies Bluetooth 5.3 with the SBC codec. Its FAQ’s toggle requirement means you select either Bluetooth or HyperSpeed Wireless for audio rather than mixing both. The V3’s simultaneous mode is the relevant distinction for people who regularly move between a game and a phone.
USB mode
USB provides a wired path on both models and can be useful when wireless interference, battery state or platform policy makes a cable preferable. The supplied specifications do not establish whether every console exposes every software feature over USB, so check the platform documentation and the headset’s current compatibility information before buying for a specialized setup.
Windows-only enhancement caveat for the X HyperSpeed
Razer says the X HyperSpeed is plug-and-play on supported platforms, but its 7.1 feature, EQ tuning and microphone enhancements require Synapse on a Windows 10 64-bit-or-newer PC. That means the headset can still provide its basic connection modes elsewhere, while those particular adjustments are tied to Windows software. A Mac, console or mobile user should plan around the default behavior rather than assuming access to the Synapse controls.
Battery and latency claims: how to interpret the numbers
Razer Support’s X HyperSpeed specification, updated 20 August 2026, claims up to 70 hours of play time over 2.4 GHz. “Up to” is a ceiling under the manufacturer’s stated conditions, not a guaranteed runtime for maximum volume, active processing or a worn battery. The same page lists approximately 270 g and a 25 ms minimum 2.4 GHz latency.
The V3 product page gives the wireless-latency description “as low as 10 ms,” but the reviewed V3 evidence does not establish a comparable battery figure. It would be misleading to declare the V3 a battery loser or to convert either latency statement into an independent measurement. If endurance is your deciding factor, the X HyperSpeed is the only model here with a documented number; if latency is your deciding factor, obtain like-for-like testing rather than comparing the marketing wording alone.

How to set up either headset
Initial setup for 2.4 GHz wireless
- Connect the headset’s supplied 2.4 GHz wireless hardware to the gaming device or computer using the documented USB connection.
- Select the headset’s HyperSpeed Wireless mode and choose it as the system’s output and microphone device.
- Run a short game-chat test: check game volume, teammate voice level and microphone pickup before starting a match.
- On the V3, configure the listed game-chat balance, mic monitoring, spatial-audio option or pro-tuned profile only if your platform exposes those controls.
- On the X HyperSpeed, install or open Razer Synapse on a Windows 10 64-bit-or-newer PC when you need 7.1, EQ tuning or microphone enhancement.
Pairing Bluetooth
- Put the headset into its Bluetooth pairing state using the controls described in the current product instructions.
- Choose the headset in the phone, tablet or computer’s Bluetooth device list.
- For the X HyperSpeed, remember that Bluetooth replaces HyperSpeed Wireless rather than playing at the same time.
- For the V3, use its simultaneous-audio function only after checking which device should carry chat, calls and notifications.
Using USB instead
- Connect the headset by USB to the device you want to use.
- Select the USB headset for playback and microphone input in the operating system or console audio menu.
- If a spatial, EQ or microphone option is missing, check whether that feature is restricted to Windows software or to a particular connection mode.
Which model fits common gaming scenarios?
Competitive PC gaming with frequent voice chat
Start with the V3 if separating game and chat levels, monitoring your own voice or selecting a spatial profile is part of your routine. Those functions are explicitly listed for that model. The X HyperSpeed can still provide wireless game audio and a detachable microphone, but its documented feature set is narrower and some enhancements require Synapse.
Gaming while staying reachable on a phone
The V3 is the practical match when you want game audio and a Bluetooth phone connection active together. The X HyperSpeed’s toggle behavior means you would have to switch modes instead of maintaining both wireless sources.
Console or multi-device use without a Windows PC
Both models offer 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth and USB, but advanced controls should not be assumed on every platform. The X HyperSpeed’s documented 7.1, EQ and microphone enhancements depend on Synapse for Windows, so a non-Windows owner should evaluate the basic plug-and-play connection rather than buying for those software features. Check current platform compatibility for the exact console and edition you intend to use.
Long sessions away from a charger
The X HyperSpeed has the explicit “up to 70 hours” 2.4 GHz claim. That makes it the easier choice when a published endurance target matters more than the V3’s additional controls. The available V3 evidence does not provide an equivalent number, so no precise endurance gap can be calculated.
Replacing or sharing a microphone
Both microphones detach, which helps if you use a separate desktop microphone or need to pack the headset. The V3’s super-wideband and the X HyperSpeed’s cardioid description indicate different capsule designs, but there is no supplied test showing how either handles keyboard noise, a distant voice or a particular room.

What the specifications cannot settle
Neither product page establishes a controlled comparison of tonal balance, positional accuracy, isolation, clamp force, ear-pad temperature, microphone intelligibility or long-term durability. Published weight also omits how that mass is distributed across the headband and ear cups. A comfortable fit depends on head size, glasses, hair, ear shape and personal pressure tolerance.
Latency figures are equally conditional. “As low as 10 ms” and “25 ms minimum” may reflect different measurement methods, firmware, radio conditions or test equipment. They are useful indicators of how Razer positions each product, but they do not replace a common laboratory test.

A buyer’s checklist
- Do you need 2.4 GHz game audio and Bluetooth audio at the same time? If yes, select the V3.
- Will you use game-chat balance, mic monitoring, THX Spatial Audio 7.1.4 or pro-tuned profiles? Those are V3-listed features.
- Are 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth and USB enough, with no simultaneous wireless audio? The X HyperSpeed meets that documented requirement.
- Is a detachable microphone important? Both models include one.
- Do you need Windows Synapse for 7.1, EQ or microphone enhancement? The X HyperSpeed requires a Windows 10 64-bit-or-newer PC for those features.
- Is a manufacturer-stated 70-hour 2.4 GHz endurance target important? That figure is published for the X HyperSpeed, not established for the V3 in the reviewed evidence.
- Are you choosing based on sound, comfort or latency? Treat those as unverified until you can test the headset or consult a genuinely independent measurement using the same method for both.
- Have you confirmed the exact regional and platform version? Wireless behavior, software access and availability can vary, so verify before ordering.
Final recommendation
The BlackShark V3 is the stronger all-round choice for players who will use its simultaneous wireless audio, game/chat controls, monitoring, THX Spatial Audio or super-wideband microphone. The BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed is the better-focused choice for basic multi-mode connectivity, a detachable microphone and Razer’s stated 70-hour 2.4 GHz endurance, provided that switching between Bluetooth and HyperSpeed is acceptable and Windows-only enhancements are not essential. Neither should be called the universal sound or comfort winner without independent testing.
