There is no single winner. Choose the wired Logitech G502 X if you want an 89 g mouse with no battery or wireless charging to manage. Choose the Razer Basilisk V4 Pro if you value three connection modes, 14 controls, advanced scroll-wheel modes, 8,000 Hz polling, and long claimed battery life. Treat the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed and Logitech G502 X LIGHTSPEED as separate models: each changes the feature set, connection method, and price of the comparison.

First, identify the exact model

“Basilisk V4” is not one specification sheet. Razer’s October 8, 2026 announcement introduced the Basilisk V4 Pro and Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed. Logitech’s G502 X family likewise includes a wired G502 X and the separate wireless G502 X LIGHTSPEED. A recommendation that does not name the suffix can accidentally compare a wired mouse with a wireless one or assign a Pro feature to the lower-tier HyperSpeed model.

Model Connection Published weight Controls and sensor highlights
Razer Basilisk V4 Pro HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, Bluetooth 6.2, or USB wired Not stated in the announcement 14 customizable controls; Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3; true 8,000 Hz polling in wireless and wired modes
Razer Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed Wireless model; the announcement presents it as a separate wireless tier 94 g 12 customizable controls; Focus X 33K Optical Sensor Gen-3; up to 140 hours of claimed battery life
Logitech G502 X (wired) USB wired 89 g LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switches; HERO 25K sensor; dual-mode wheel with tilt controls
Logitech G502 X LIGHTSPEED LIGHTSPEED wireless Not stated on the cited US page 13 customizable controls; LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches; updated HERO 44K sensor

Because the available product pages do not give matching weights for all four options, do not infer that the 89 g wired G502 X is lighter than every Basilisk or that the LIGHTSPEED model weighs the same as its wired counterpart.

What the published specifications actually show

Basilisk V4 Pro: the broadest feature set

Razer positions the Basilisk V4 Pro as a multi-mode mouse. It can use HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, Bluetooth 6.2, or a wired connection. Bluetooth can retain up to three paired devices, which is useful if one mouse moves between a gaming PC, a laptop, and another Bluetooth system without changing the physical receiver.

The V4 Pro has 14 customizable controls. Razer specifically calls out a third side button and an M1 edge button, giving the thumb and index finger additional inputs beyond a conventional two-side-button layout. The exact usefulness depends on whether your games or applications can accommodate those extra commands; the number alone does not prove that the layout will fit every hand or grip.

Its HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2 is described with three operating modes: a 24-step tactile mode, a 48-step precision tactile mode, and free-spin. The wheel also tilts, so scrolling, horizontal navigation, weapon selection, browser tabs, or application shortcuts can be assigned to different wheel behaviors. These are manufacturer-described modes, not an independent judgment about wheel feel or durability.

Razer lists the Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3 at up to 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS, and 90 G. It also states true 8,000 Hz polling in both wireless and wired modes. Those figures describe the sensor and polling capabilities advertised by Razer; they are not a head-to-head latency measurement against either G502 X model.

Lighting is a seven-zone Chroma RGB system. The mouse uses Gen-4 optical switches with a stated 100-million-click rating. A click rating is a component-life specification under the manufacturer’s test conditions, not a guarantee of how long an individual mouse will last in a particular environment.

Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed: a different tier, not a cheaper Pro specification

Razer separately lists the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed at 94 g, with 12 customizable controls, a Focus X 33K Optical Sensor Gen-3, and up to 140 hours of battery life. The announcement does not establish that it has the V4 Pro’s 14-control layout, 50K sensor, 8,000 Hz operation, 7-zone lighting, or three connection modes. Do not transfer those V4 Pro figures to the HyperSpeed model.

The HyperSpeed name indicates a wireless product, but it should not be treated as interchangeable with the G502 X LIGHTSPEED name. They are different wireless implementations from different manufacturers, and the published specifications do not provide a common independent test of their latency or range.

G502 X wired: the straightforward cable-first option

Logitech’s wired G502 X page gives a weight of 89 g. It uses LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switches and a HERO 25K sensor. Since the mouse draws power over USB, there is no battery, charging schedule, wireless receiver, or charging dock to maintain.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The wheel has two modes: free-spin and ratcheted scrolling. It tilts left and right for two programmable controls. Logitech also describes an adjustable and removable DPI-shift button. Moving or removing that button can help users whose thumb position conflicts with a shift control, although the right position is a personal fit decision rather than a measured advantage.

G502 X LIGHTSPEED: wireless G502 X with its own specifications

The G502 X LIGHTSPEED is a distinct wireless mouse. Logitech’s US product page lists 13 customizable controls, LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches, LIGHTSPEED wireless, and an updated HERO 44K sensor. The cited page displayed a price of $159.99 when accessed on October 13, 2026. That price is a regional storefront snapshot and can change.

The wired page’s HERO 25K and the US LIGHTSPEED page’s updated HERO 44K should be kept separate. Neither number, by itself, establishes superior in-game performance, and there is no independent head-to-head benchmark in the available material.

Connection choice: cable, multi-mode wireless, or one wireless protocol

For a competitive setup, receiver placement, USB configuration, operating-system settings, and the game itself can affect perceived responsiveness. The specifications supplied here do not establish latency for any of those real-world configurations. If you need a guaranteed cable-free setup, compare the two wireless products on return policy and local support as well as on polling claims.

Controls and scrolling: decide from the actions you actually perform

Choose Basilisk V4 Pro for the largest advertised control and wheel menu

The V4 Pro’s 14 controls and third side button suit players who map abilities, push-to-talk, inventory actions, or editing commands to the mouse. Its M1 edge button can provide another command near the index finger. The HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2 adds four distinct axes of choice: vertical scrolling in tactile or free-spin form, precision detents, and left/right tilt.

This abundance can be valuable in massively multiplayer games, productivity software, and creative applications, but it also creates more opportunities for accidental presses. Test whether your normal grip rests on the edge button or third side button before committing.

Choose G502 X when the DPI-shift button and wheel switch matter most

The wired G502 X combines a dual-mode wheel, left/right tilt, and an adjustable or removable DPI-shift button. Free-spin is suited to long documents or menus; ratcheted mode gives discrete notches for weapon or item selection. The adjustable shift button lets you move it away from your thumb or remove it if you never use temporary sensitivity changes.

The LIGHTSPEED version lists 13 customizable controls, one fewer than the V4 Pro’s published count. Logitech’s page does not establish that its wireless wheel offers the same three-mode 24-step/48-step/free-spin arrangement described for the V4 Pro, so do not assume feature parity.

Sensor and polling claims: what they mean and what they do not

Model Sensor claim Polling claim Evidence limit
Basilisk V4 Pro Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3; up to 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS, 90 G True 8,000 Hz in wireless and wired modes Razer specifications; no independent comparative latency test
Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed Focus X 33K Optical Sensor Gen-3 Not stated in the cited announcement Do not assign the Pro’s 8,000 Hz figure to this model
G502 X wired HERO 25K Not stated on the cited wired page Logitech specification; no common test with Razer models
G502 X LIGHTSPEED Updated HERO 44K Not stated on the cited US page Logitech specification; wireless behavior depends on the complete setup

DPI is a selectable sensitivity scale, not a target you must use. IPS is a maximum tracking-speed claim, and G is an acceleration rating. Most users should choose based on stable tracking at their preferred sensitivity and on the shape and controls they can operate reliably. The published numbers are useful for identifying model tiers, not for declaring a winner without controlled testing.

Battery, charging, and desk logistics

Basilisk V4 Pro battery modes

Razer states up to 200 hours for the Basilisk V4 Pro at 1,000 Hz wireless polling and up to 275 hours over Bluetooth 6.2. “Up to” describes a maximum claim; actual runtime varies with polling rate, lighting, connection mode, and use. Running at the advertised 8,000 Hz rate may not produce the same runtime as the 1,000 Hz figure.

The optional Mouse Dock V2 Pro provides magnetic wireless charging and an integrated 8,000 Hz transceiver. Razer lists both the Basilisk V4 Pro and Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed as compatible. The dock is an accessory, not a requirement for operating either mouse; charging by cable remains the alternative.

Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed battery

Razer states up to 140 hours for the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed. This is a separate claim from the V4 Pro’s 200-hour and 275-hour figures. Check the exact model and connection mode when estimating how often you will recharge.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

G502 X power choices

The wired G502 X has no battery requirement because it is powered through USB. The G502 X LIGHTSPEED is wireless, so it introduces the normal wireless responsibilities of charging and keeping its receiver available. The cited product page does not provide a battery-life figure in the supplied specifications; do not substitute a figure from another G502 model.

Weight, shape, and grip: what the numbers cannot settle

The only directly stated weights in the supplied product pages are 89 g for the wired G502 X and 94 g for the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed. Razer does not state a matching V4 Pro weight in the announcement, and the cited LIGHTSPEED page does not state a weight. A five-gram difference between two stated models is not enough to predict comfort, because palm support, hump position, thumb-rest geometry, button reach, and cable or receiver placement can dominate the experience.

Consider your grip before choosing features:

  • Palm grip: check whether the rear shell supports your palm without forcing the fingers too far forward.
  • Claw grip: make sure the main buttons and edge controls are reachable without squeezing the sides.
  • Fingertip grip: examine side-button placement and total shell width; extra controls can become accidental contacts.
  • Low-sensitivity play: desk space and cable drag may matter more than maximum DPI or polling figures.

None of the cited pages provides an independently measured comfort, click-feel, scroll-feel, or durability comparison. Buy from a seller with a practical return window if hand fit is uncertain.

Price and availability: verify your region on purchase day

Prices are volatile and cannot be compared fairly across currencies or across wired and wireless variants. Logitech’s US wired product page displayed $99.99 and in-stock status, while its EU wired page displayed €69.99 and in-stock status when accessed on October 13, 2026. The US G502 X LIGHTSPEED page displayed $159.99 at that time. These are regional storefront observations, not permanent list prices.

Razer’s October 8, 2026 launch announcement did not establish a V4 price or retailer availability. Before making a value judgment, check the official storefront for your country, confirm whether the listing is V4 Pro or V4 HyperSpeed, and note whether a Mouse Dock V2 Pro is bundled or sold separately. A discounted wired G502 X and a full-price V4 Pro answer different budgets and feature needs.

Which mouse fits each type of buyer?

Pick the wired Logitech G502 X when simplicity is the requirement

The 89 g wired G502 X is the clearest choice when you want continuous USB power, the G502 control layout, and no wireless charging considerations. Its dual-mode tilt wheel and adjustable/removable DPI-shift button are practical differentiators. Accept the cable and the HERO 25K specification as part of that choice.

Pick the Razer Basilisk V4 Pro when connection flexibility and controls lead

The V4 Pro is the candidate for users who specifically need HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, Bluetooth 6.2 with up to three paired devices, and wired operation in one mouse. Its 14 controls, three-mode HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2, seven-zone Chroma RGB, and stated 8,000 Hz operation create the broadest advertised feature set in this comparison. Its battery claims and optional dock matter if you want a cable-free desk.

Evaluate the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed when you want the form family with fewer Pro features

The V4 HyperSpeed deserves a separate decision rather than being treated as a discounted V4 Pro. Razer lists 94 g, 12 controls, a Focus X 33K sensor, and up to 140 hours of battery life. Choose it only after confirming that its published connection, polling, wheel, and lighting details meet your requirements.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Pick the G502 X LIGHTSPEED when you want a wireless G502 layout

The LIGHTSPEED model is the natural Logitech wireless branch: 13 controls, LIGHTFORCE hybrid switches, LIGHTSPEED wireless, and an updated HERO 44K sensor. Compare its current regional price and battery information directly with the V4 model you are considering; do not use the wired G502 X’s $99.99 US or €69.99 EU storefront price as a proxy.

A practical buying checklist

  1. Write down the exact suffix: V4 Pro, V4 HyperSpeed, G502 X wired, or G502 X LIGHTSPEED.
  2. Choose power first: select USB wired if batteries are unacceptable; otherwise decide whether multi-mode Bluetooth and a dock are worth managing.
  3. Count the controls you will actually map: compare 14 on V4 Pro, 12 on V4 HyperSpeed, 13 on G502 X LIGHTSPEED, and the wired G502 X’s listed wheel and DPI-shift controls.
  4. Check wheel behavior: decide whether you need the V4 Pro’s 24-step, 48-step, and free-spin modes or the G502 X’s free-spin/ratcheted switch with tilt.
  5. Confirm hand fit: verify the side buttons, edge button, thumb rest, and shell dimensions through a returnable purchase or an in-person tryout.
  6. Verify current regional price and stock: compare like-for-like models on the day you buy, including any dock or receiver accessories.
  7. Ignore unsupported superiority claims: sensor DPI, IPS, G ratings, click ratings, and polling numbers are vendor specifications here, not independent head-to-head results.

Bottom line

For a cable-free, feature-heavy setup, the Razer Basilisk V4 Pro is the model to investigate first: it combines three connection modes, 14 controls, an unusually configurable wheel, and the longest claimed battery figures in this group. For a no-battery setup, the 89 g wired Logitech G502 X is the more direct answer. The Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed and G502 X LIGHTSPEED can be better fits when you want their respective wireless designs, but their specifications must be evaluated independently. Your hand fit, tolerance for charging, and current local price should decide the final purchase.
