Rayman Legends Retold is a scheduled reimagining of the 2013 platformer, with a fully 3D world wrapped around side-scrolling platform gameplay. Ubisoft currently lists December 3, 2026, for release; its earlier June announcement gave October 1, so the newer date is the one to use. The game is listed for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, GeForce Now, and Blacknut.
Is Rayman Legends Retold a 2D or 3D platformer?
It is both in different respects: Ubisoft describes the world and presentation as fully 3D, but the core platforming remains side-scrolling. This is not described as a conventional free-roaming 3D platform game. Ubisoft says the new visuals bend the playground, tilt the camera, and animate cutscenes, changing how the familiar side-scrolling action is presented. Ubisoft’s accessibility interview calls the world fully 3D, while the PlayStation Blog announcement describes the shift from 2D presentation.

What is new in the Retold version?
Ubisoft presents Retold as a reimagining rather than simply a visual update. The announced additions and returning elements include:

- Four new musical stages, alongside returning levels.
- Dragon rides and voiced cinematics.
- Local couch co-op for up to four players.
- Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition included with the standard edition, with new collectibles and quality-of-life improvements. Ubisoft specifies 4K/60 FPS for this included edition.
Ubisoft’s current product page and German announcement describe local co-op; they do not establish online co-op. If playing together online is essential, do not assume that feature is available from the announced details.

When does it release, and where can you play?
Ubisoft’s current product page lists December 3, 2026, as the scheduled release date. The June announcement listed October 1, but September updates use December 3. As of October 11, 2026, that date is still in the future, so this is a scheduled launch, not a confirmed completed release. Which edition should you choose?
Ubisoft’s German announcement outlines three editions. The contents and the €39.99 Standard Edition recommended price below are announcement details for Germany, not a guarantee of current pricing, stock, or the same package in every country.

The German announcement also mentions a pre-order keychain offer through MediaMarkt/Saturn. That is a retailer-specific promotion, not a universal edition feature. Check local listings for the actual contents and availability. For a physical PS5 search, “Rayman Legends Retold PS5 Launch Edition” is a useful phrase, but confirm the seller, region, package contents, and stock before buying.

What accessibility options has Ubisoft announced?
Ubisoft’s September 22, 2026, accessibility article describes announced design features; they are developer statements, not independent accessibility certification or tested outcomes. The options include:
- Gameplay visibility: Highlights outlines relevant objects; High Contrast Mode color-codes elements and increases separation between interactive objects and backgrounds.
- Controls: Control presets and remapping.
- Audio: Separate volume sliders.
- Text and subtitles: An alternative sans-serif font, three subtitle sizes, subtitle background opacity settings of none, 50%, or 100%, and optional speaker names.

What PC hardware does Ubisoft list?
Ubisoft’s published minimum target is 1080p at 60 FPS on the low preset, using quality FSR or XeSS upscaling. The listed minimum also includes 33 GB of SSD space and 8 GB of dual-channel RAM. These are manufacturer-published requirements and targets, not independent benchmark results. Check the Ubisoft PC requirements post for the full configuration before purchasing or installing; an apparent recommended-GPU model string in that post should not be silently interpreted as a different model.

- Choose it for the announced 3D presentation if you want a visual reimagining while keeping side-scrolling platform play.
- Look at the edition contents if you value the included Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, digital costumes and gallery, or physical inserts.
- For group play, the confirmed detail is up to four-player local co-op; online co-op is not established in the cited official descriptions.
