Short answer: neither Ramp nor Brex is a universal winner. Choose the platform whose total plan cost, controls, expense process, integrations, entity support, and travel features match the way your finance team operates. Ramp lists a free tier, a $15-per-user Plus tier with an additional team-size platform fee, and custom Enterprise pricing. Brex lists free Essentials, $12-per-user Premium, and custom Enterprise pricing. Those headline prices are only a starting point: the relevant tier, user count, platform fees, add-ons, and required workflows determine your real cost.
The comparison below uses the vendors’ published plan and feature descriptions, reviewed October 13, 2026. They are vendor claims, not independent performance testing, underwriting decisions, accounting advice, or guarantees that your company will qualify for every feature.
Ramp vs. Brex at a glance
Both products combine corporate-card spending with software for policies, approvals, receipts, expense review, and accounting visibility. The practical difference is less about a single “best” card and more about fit: how many people need access, how strict your controls must be, how many entities and countries you operate in, and whether travel is part of the program.

Neither vendor page establishes an independent, apples-to-apples result for approval speed, rewards value, decline rates, support quality, or customer outcomes. Do not treat marketing feature lists as a benchmark.

Published pricing and what it really means
The following figures are the vendors’ published prices shown on their official pages on October 13, 2026. They are not an independent quote and may depend on eligibility, contract terms, billing cadence, geography, or feature requirements.
| Provider and plan | Published software price | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Ramp Free | $0 per user per month | Capabilities differ from paid tiers; confirm whether your required controls and integrations are included. |
| Ramp Plus | $15 per user per month | Also includes a platform fee based on team size. The amount is not stated on the public pricing summary. |
| Ramp Enterprise | Custom pricing | Request a quote tied to users, entities, countries, controls, integrations, and support needs. |
| Brex Essentials | $0 per user per month | Confirm included policies, approvals, integrations, and entity capabilities for your use case. |
| Brex Premium | $12 per user per month | Check which premium policies, approvals, integrations, and multi-entity functions your organization needs. |
| Brex Enterprise | Custom pricing | Obtain a quote that specifies all required modules and operating regions. |
For a simple illustration, 25 users at the published Ramp Plus rate would be 25 × $15, or $375 per month, before Ramp’s team-size platform fee and any other applicable charges. Twenty-five users at Brex Premium’s published rate would be 25 × $12, or $300 per month, before any terms or additions in your quote. These calculations do not establish your bill; they show why comparing only the per-user number can mislead.
Start with the free tiers only if they contain the controls and integrations you actually need. A free plan that forces manual work, excludes a required accounting connection, or lacks a necessary approval rule can cost more in staff time than a paid plan. Ask each sales team to state, in writing, which functions are included at the quoted tier and which require an upgrade.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

How Ramp’s published feature set fits a finance workflow
Ramp describes a spend-management platform that connects card issuance with controls and accounting-oriented workflows. Its spend-management overview describes physical and virtual cards, spend programs, documentation requirements, spend requests, approvals, expense review, and accounting/reporting workflows.
Before money is spent
A team can define a spend request and route it for approval before a transaction occurs. The useful question is not whether a feature exists in a brochure, but whether your policy can be expressed precisely: who may request spend, who approves it, what amount or category triggers escalation, and what documentation is mandatory. Confirm which of those controls are available on Free versus Plus or Enterprise.

At the card and transaction level
Ramp’s description includes physical and virtual cards and broader spend programs. During evaluation, test the controls your organization relies on most: per-user limits, merchant or category restrictions, temporary project budgets, and the process for changing a limit without bypassing approval. Ask whether a control applies equally to every card type and whether changes take effect immediately.

Ramp describes receipt and memo requirements, expense review, approvals, reimbursements, and accounting/reporting workflows. Walk through an ordinary transaction and an exception: a missing receipt, a split personal/business charge, a refund, and a transaction that needs a second approver. Have the vendor show who is notified, what remains pending, and how the final accounting record is exported or synchronized.
Where Ramp Plus may matter
The vendor indicates that some advanced workflows may require Ramp Plus. Do not assume that a feature visible in a demonstration is included in Free. Ask for a feature-by-tier matrix covering approval chains, policy enforcement, integrations, reimbursement handling, reporting, and any platform fee.
How Brex’s published feature set fits a finance workflow
Brex describes its offering on the corporate credit card page as a card program with spend limits and controls, embedded expense management, receipt capture, categorization, and real-time expense visibility.
Controlling card spend
Begin by translating your policy into limits: who can spend, how much, where, and for what purpose. Ask Brex to demonstrate how limits are assigned, changed, approved, and audited. Verify whether merchant and category rules are available on Essentials or require Premium or Enterprise, and whether they apply to every card and spend type you intend to issue.

Brex highlights receipt capture and categorization. Test the process with a mobile receipt, an emailed receipt, a transaction with no receipt, and a receipt that covers multiple accounting categories. Confirm how employees are reminded, how finance corrects a category, and whether corrections remain visible in the audit trail.

Real-time visibility
The product page describes real-time expense visibility. Ask what “real time” means for your accounting process: when a transaction appears, when a receipt is attached, when an approval is complete, and when data reaches your accounting or ERP system. A dashboard view is not the same as a posted ledger entry, so validate both.
Higher-tier capabilities
Brex’s pricing page describes additional policies, approvals, integrations, and multi-entity capabilities at higher tiers. Request the exact plan requirement for each capability instead of assuming Premium includes every item shown in a demonstration.
Compare the controls your company actually needs
Limits and policy enforcement
List every rule that must be enforced automatically: employee or team limits, project budgets, merchant restrictions, category restrictions, time windows, and approval thresholds. Give the same list to both vendors and ask for a live demonstration. Record whether each rule is available, configurable by an administrator, and included in the quoted tier.

Requests and approvals
Document your current approval graph. A small company may need one manager approval; a larger organization may require manager, budget owner, procurement, and finance approval. Include out-of-office delegation, escalation, rejected requests, and post-approval changes. A platform that supports only a simplified path can create manual work even when its card controls look strong.
Receipts, memos, and exceptions
Decide which evidence is mandatory for each transaction type. Then test late receipts, missing receipts, partial refunds, disputed charges, foreign-currency transactions, and personal charges. Compare not just capture but the enforcement mechanism, reminder timing, reviewer workload, and reporting for noncompliance.
Reimbursements and non-card spend
If employees are reimbursed for cash or personal-card purchases, include that process in the evaluation. Ask how a reimbursement is submitted, approved, documented, paid, and reconciled with card spend. Do not select a card platform based solely on card issuance if a substantial part of your expense volume is non-card.

Accounting, ERP, entities, currencies, and travel
Accounting and ERP integrations
Obtain the exact integration list for your accounting or ERP system and the tier that unlocks it. Confirm supported objects such as accounts, departments, projects, classes, tax fields, vendors, employees, and attachments. Ask whether synchronization is one-way or two-way, how often it runs, how errors are surfaced, and who owns mapping changes.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Multi-entity operations
Count legal entities, billing entities, bank accounts, and approval populations separately. A platform may support multiple entities while still imposing limits on the plan, requiring separate configurations, or handling local issuance differently. Ask how intercompany charges, shared employees, consolidated reporting, and entity-level policies are represented.
Countries and currencies
List every country in which cards will be issued or used, the currencies in which employees spend, and the currency in which your books are maintained. Confirm local availability, foreign-exchange treatment, billing currency, card delivery, support hours, and any country-specific restrictions. Do not infer worldwide availability from a general “global” statement.
Travel requirements
If travel is material, define the whole workflow: booking channels, traveler profiles, policy checks before booking, approval timing, changes and cancellations, receipts, duty-of-care information, and support during a disruption. Ask each vendor to demonstrate that workflow on the specific tier you would buy. Travel features can be plan-dependent, so a card comparison alone is insufficient.
A practical selection method
- Freeze your scope. Count employees, contractors, cardholders, approvers, entities, countries, currencies, accounting systems, and monthly transaction volume.
- Write non-negotiable controls. Specify limits, merchant and category rules, approval thresholds, documentation requirements, and exception handling.
- Separate must-have from nice-to-have. Mark each requirement as mandatory, useful, or optional before seeing a sales demonstration.
- Request like-for-like quotes. Ask Ramp and Brex to price the same user count, entities, regions, support expectations, and feature list. Require platform fees, implementation charges, contract length, renewal terms, and add-ons to be stated.
- Run the same scenarios. Demonstrate a new employee, a project budget, an over-limit request, a missing receipt, a refund, a reimbursement, a foreign transaction, an accounting-sync error, and a traveler cancellation.
- Score operational effort. For each scenario, record employee steps, manager steps, finance steps, audit evidence, and recovery when something goes wrong.
- Validate data ownership. Ask how to export transactions, receipts, approvals, and audit history if you leave. Confirm retention and administrator access in the contract.
- Recheck before signing. Official pricing and feature pages are volatile. Compare the final contract and implementation statement with the current pages immediately before purchase.
Which platform fits common business situations?
You want the lowest published paid per-user rate
Brex Premium is listed at $12 per user per month, while Ramp Plus is listed at $15 per user per month plus a team-size platform fee. That makes Brex’s published per-user figure lower, but it does not prove a lower total cost. Compare the complete quote, including the features and integrations you need.
Recommended Free Tools
You want to start with a free tier
Both providers publish a $0-per-user option: Ramp Free and Brex Essentials. Choose between them by testing required controls, approval paths, expense evidence, integrations, and entity support. A free label is useful only when the included workflow is sufficient.

- 【Reduce Safety Risks】Cable tray under desk keeps all plugs away from your kids, no more worry about tripping. Using 2 holes wire tray saves extra space, helps you easily cabling and wire protection. The mesh design is not easy to accumulate dust, but avoids safety accidents caused by messy wires.
You need advanced approval and policy workflows
Build a requirement-by-requirement matrix. Ramp says some advanced workflows may require Plus; Brex says higher tiers add policies and approvals. The correct choice depends on which rules are available in the plan you will actually buy, not on the presence of a feature name.
You operate several entities or countries
Prioritize a written answer on entity limits, local issuance, currencies, billing, consolidated reporting, and support. Brex explicitly describes additional multi-entity capabilities at higher tiers, while Ramp’s pages also organize capabilities by plan. Neither general pricing page is enough to approve a global rollout without a scoped quote.
Travel is a major spend category
Use a travel-specific script and insist on a demonstration of booking, policy, approval, changes, cancellations, receipt handling, and support. Select the platform that completes your real travel process on the quoted tier with the least manual intervention.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Choosing from the headline price: Include Ramp’s team-size platform fee, required upgrades, add-ons, implementation, and support in the comparison.
- Confusing a feature mention with an included feature: Tie every requirement to a named plan and obtain written confirmation.
- Ignoring finance operations: Test corrections, exceptions, reimbursements, refunds, and accounting sync rather than only creating a card.
- Assuming global coverage: Confirm each country, currency, entity, issuance path, and billing arrangement.
- Skipping the exit plan: Verify exports, receipt access, audit history, retention, and migration assistance before signing.
- Treating vendor claims as benchmarks: The published pages do not establish independent results for approval speed, rewards, declines, support, or customer outcomes.
Due-diligence checklist
Before selecting either platform, obtain clear answers to these questions:
- What is the total recurring and one-time cost for our exact users, entities, countries, and required tier?
- Which physical and virtual card types and spend programs are included?
- Can administrators enforce employee, merchant, category, project, and time-based limits?
- How do requests, approvals, delegations, escalations, and rejected transactions work?
- Which receipts, memos, and other documents are mandatory, and how are exceptions handled?
- Are reimbursements supported in the workflow we use?
- Which accounting or ERP integration is included, and what data synchronizes in each direction?
- How are entities, currencies, intercompany activity, and consolidated reporting handled?
- What travel booking, policy, change, cancellation, and support functions are included?
- What data can we export, how long is it retained, and what happens when the contract ends?
Bottom line
Ramp is the better fit when its controls, documentation, approval, expense, and reporting workflows match your policy and the Plus platform fee remains sensible for your team. Brex is the better fit when its $12-per-user Premium structure and card-centered expense workflow meet your requirements, especially if its higher-tier policy, integration, or multi-entity capabilities align with your operating model. For either choice, the deciding evidence is a like-for-like quote and a scenario-based demonstration on the exact plan—not the headline price or a generic feature list.
