Rainbow Six Tactics will let you break through walls to create new lines of sight and entry points, and destroy enemy cover. The announcement also connects that destruction to The Breach, a synchronized assault in which active Operators move together and combine their abilities with environmental destruction.
That is the confirmed information. The announcement does not provide a complete list of breakable materials, floors, ceilings, doors, barricades, reinforcements, gadgets, damage values, or turn costs. Siege offers useful vocabulary for understanding destruction in the Rainbow Six series, but its exact surfaces and gadgets should not be treated as Tactics rules.
What can be broken in Rainbow Six Tactics?
The current announcement identifies three destruction outcomes in Tactics:

- Enemy cover can be destroyed, potentially exposing a position that was previously protected.
These descriptions establish purposes rather than a complete inventory of objects. “Walls” does not mean that every wall, partition, or material in every mission is guaranteed to be destructible. Likewise, the announcement does not confirm that floors, ceilings, windows, doors, barricades, hatches, reinforcements, deployable shields, or specific gadgets can be destroyed in Tactics.

Destruction is presented as a deliberate tactical option. An opening may change both what the squad can see and where it can move, while removing cover can change how safe an enemy position is. Those are strategic implications of the announced uses, not claims about unannounced damage systems or map rules.
How destruction works with The Breach
The Breach is the clearest announced framework for using destruction. During this synchronized assault, active Operators can move together and combine their abilities with environmental destruction. The announcement does not publish a button sequence, action-point cost, cooldown, range, or timing window, so those details remain unknown.
1. Choose the assault objective
Because the announced benefits are sightlines, entry routes, and cover removal, the useful question is not simply “Can this object break?” It is “What tactical problem would an opening solve?” A wall break aimed at a defender’s cover serves a different purpose from an opening intended to let the squad enter a room.

2. Coordinate active Operators
The Breach temporarily synchronizes the movement of active Operators during the assault. That synchronization matters because destruction is not described as an isolated demolition animation; it is part of a combined action in which several Operators can contribute their distinct abilities.
3. Combine abilities with environmental change
The announcement says the Operators’ abilities are combined with environmental destruction. It does not identify which Operator creates which opening or prescribe a fixed team composition. The practical implication is that a breach can be planned alongside the squad’s other abilities rather than treated as a separate, purely cosmetic effect.

4. Exploit the new geometry
Once a wall or cover element is removed, the squad’s options change. A new sightline may enable an attack from a different angle; a new entry point may permit movement into a previously inaccessible space; destroyed cover may deny an enemy a safe firing position. The game has not yet published the exact number of turns, movement points, or attacks affected by a breach.

What a destruction decision means on the battlefield
The announcement gives enough information to frame destruction around four tactical purposes. These are useful planning lenses, not hidden Tactics statistics.

A wall opening can let an Operator observe or attack through a new angle. In a turn-based game, that may influence the order in which the squad gathers information and commits to a target. Until Ubisoft explains visibility rules, it is safest to treat “new line of sight” as the confirmed result and avoid assuming that every opening grants a full-room view.
Entry creation
An opening can function as a route into another space. That makes destruction a movement decision as well as a weapons decision: the squad may trade time, exposure, or an ability for access to a different approach. The announcement does not say whether every wall opening is traversable, how wide it must be, or whether enemies can immediately use it too.
Cover removal
Destroying enemy cover changes the protection around a target without necessarily eliminating the target itself. The announced mechanic therefore supports attacks that first reshape the defensive position and then engage the exposed enemy. No cover health model or destruction radius has been revealed.

Coordination during The Breach
Because active Operators move together during The Breach, a synchronized assault can align movement, ability use, and environmental change in one planned sequence. The exact order and restrictions are still unannounced, so descriptions of automatic follow-up attacks, guaranteed multi-kills, or free movement would go beyond the available information.

Rainbow Six Siege can explain why the word “destruction” covers more than one outcome, but Siege mechanics are not evidence that the same objects or gadgets appear in Tactics.
Shoot-through versus breachable surfaces
Ubisoft’s official Siege guide distinguishes surfaces that can be shot through from surfaces that can be traversed after breaching. A damaged surface, a firing hole, and a fully opened passage therefore are not interchangeable concepts in Siege. This distinction is useful when reading the Tactics announcement: “break through a wall” clearly promises an opening or passage, while it does not establish every intermediate damage state that the turn-based game may use.
Material-dependent destruction
An older Ubisoft Siege development article describes breach charges placed against a wall or floor and explains that destructibility depends on materials and other factors. That article was work in progress for Siege. It supports the broader franchise idea that environmental destruction can be material-dependent, but it does not define Tactics materials, durability, or charge behavior.
Ram’s BU-GI Auto-Breacher example
In Siege, Ubisoft describes Ram’s BU-GI Auto-Breacher as breaking barricades, opening impact-sized holes in soft floors, destroying deployable shields, Castle barricades, and barbed wire, and clearing soft walls or unreinforced hatches. This is a Siege operator-and-gadget example only. Tactics has not been confirmed to include Ram, the BU-GI, those object categories, or those effects.

Why the distinction matters
Importing Siege details into Tactics can create false expectations about what a turn, ability, or breach will do. Use Siege to understand terms such as soft surfaces, shoot-through openings, and traversable breaches; use the Tactics announcement for the currently confirmed promises.
Operators and missions that give the mechanic context
The announcement identifies 15 recruitable Operators drawn from Siege, each with unique abilities, specialized gadgets, and skill trees. It names Ash, Sledge, Nokk, and Montagne among the roster. Those names establish the game’s connection to Siege, but the announcement does not assign any of them a confirmed Tactics-specific destruction value or state which Operator performs a particular wall breach.
The missions include hostage rescue, bomb disposal, and target elimination. Destruction can be understood in relation to those objectives: an entry point may affect how a team reaches a hostage, a sightline may influence access to a bomb site, and cover removal may expose a target. These are scenario applications of the announced purposes, not descriptions of mission scripting or guaranteed solutions.
Creative Director Elie Benhamou summarized the shared design philosophy this way: “Rainbow Six games all share a common tactical core: intel, planning, high-stakes decision-making, and elite Operators with distinct roles,”. Environmental destruction fits that philosophy because it changes the information and routes available to the squad, but the announcement does not promise that destruction is mandatory in every mission.

How to plan a breach without assuming unannounced rules
- Identify the problem. Decide whether the squad needs information, a route into a new space, or removal of enemy protection.
- Choose the target wall or cover element. Treat the object as a candidate rather than assuming that all nearby surfaces share the same properties.
- Assign the active Operators. The Breach synchronizes active Operators, so select the group whose abilities support the intended assault. The game has not yet published fixed combinations.
- Check the resulting exposure. A new opening can expose the squad as well as the enemy. Plan for the possibility that the new sightline works in both directions.
- Decide whether access or visibility is more valuable. A route into a room and a firing angle are related but not identical benefits. Use the objective to choose between them.
- Execute only when the follow-up is ready. Since the announcement does not state whether destruction costs movement, an action, or a special resource, do not assume the squad can always breach and attack at no additional cost.

- Which wall materials are destructible and whether material classes have different strengths.
- Whether floors, ceilings, doors, windows, hatches, barricades, reinforcements, or gadgets can be destroyed.
- Whether a surface can be partially damaged, shot through, or only opened by a dedicated action.
- The size and shape of a breach, and whether the opening can be traversed by every Operator.
- Destruction damage, blast radius, durability, turn cost, movement cost, cooldowns, and resource requirements.
- Whether enemies can create or use the same openings during their turns.
- How destruction interacts with mission objectives, alarms, reinforcements, or line-of-sight calculations.
Until those rules are published, guides that present a complete Tactics surface chart or exact breach formulas are making assumptions beyond the announcement.
Release status and what the announcement does—and does not—promise
Xbox Wire published the announcement on August 25, 2026. It describes Rainbow Six Tactics as a planned turn-based game for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC and invites readers to wishlist it. That is release context, not confirmation of a launch date, physical edition, retail manual, or final destruction specification.
The safest current description is therefore narrow: Tactics is planned to use environmental destruction as a tactical system, with walls broken for sightlines and entry points, enemy cover destroyed, and The Breach coordinating active Operators during an assault. A complete object-by-object destruction list must wait for a later official Tactics source.

In the information available now, you can break through walls to open new sightlines and entry points, and you can destroy enemy cover. The Breach ties those changes to synchronized movement and combined Operator abilities. Everything beyond those promises—specific materials, floors, ceilings, barricades, gadgets, durability, costs, and exact opening behavior—remains unconfirmed for Tactics. Siege examples can explain the series’ destruction vocabulary, but they should not be copied into a Tactics strategy guide as established rules.
