There is no single best Chimera team for every account. Build a five-Champion lineup around the active affinity rotation, the difficulty you can survive, and the Trials you can complete reliably. Chimera changes forms every five turns during a 65-turn Clan Boss battle, so a roster that handles Ram, Lion, and Viper matters more than a damage-only setup.
How the Chimera fight works
Chimera is a Clan Boss for Clan members. Plarium’s guide, posted January 15, 2025, says it unlocks at account level 33 and each battle uses five Champions for exactly 65 turns. The encounter starts in Ultimate Form and changes form every five turns. Ram, Lion, and Viper each appear twice; Ultimate appears seven times.
There are four affinity rotations, each lasting 28 days. Within a rotation, Ram, Lion, and Viper share an affinity, while Ultimate has a different affinity. The active affinity can change, so check the live encounter in game before choosing Champions rather than relying on an older team recommendation.

A weekly cycle provides two Chimera Keys, and each battle consumes one. Plarium also describes a keyless Free Regroup for experimenting and returning to team selection without preserving the run score. A keyed battle is required to claim Trial rewards.

What are the Chimera forms?
Each form changes what your team needs to withstand. Use this as a planning guide, then check the active rotation and live battle details in game.

| Ram | Duel restricts the target’s actions and changes damage dealt to that target. | Be ready to reduce the Duel bar while keeping the selected target alive; Taunt and Veil effects do not redirect Duel. |
| Lion | Hunter’s Gaze makes direct skill damage to the marked Champion bypass many conventional protections. | Do not count on mitigation to keep that target safe from direct skill damage. Evasion can still avoid it. |
| Viper | Plarium identifies this form with Poison. | Account for Poison in your survival plan and consider relevant Trial conditions, but check the current in-game requirements before tailoring a counter. |

Ram: Duel
Plarium’s rules describe Duel as applying to a producer and a target. The producer can use skills against the target; the target is limited to default attacks against the producer. The producer deals 50% more damage to the target, while Champions outside the Duel deal 50% less damage to a dueling target. The Duel bar is 1% of the producer’s maximum HP, and depleting it ends the effect.
Duel takes priority over Taunt, Veil, and Perfect Veil. It cannot be resisted, blocked, removed, stolen, or spread. Build around handling the Duel itself, not around redirecting it with those effects.

Lion: Hunter’s Gaze
Direct skill damage to a Champion under Hunter’s Gaze cannot be reduced, blocked, redirected, or transferred. It also ignores Unkillable, Block Damage, Increase DEF, Strengthen, Ally Protection, Veil, Perfect Veil, and Shield. Evasion remains able to avoid the hit.
This rule is specifically about direct skill damage. Plarium distinguishes that from damage caused by debuffs, passives, Masteries, or Blessings, so do not assume Hunter’s Gaze disables every form of protection or damage interaction.
Viper and Ultimate
The available official overview associates Viper with Poison but does not establish a complete counter strategy. For Ultimate, the key planning point is its escalating strength as Trials are completed; the official guide does not provide a simple universal threshold at which it becomes too difficult.

How do Chimera Trials work?
Trials apply to Ram, Lion, and Viper, not Ultimate. Each of those three forms has Easy, Normal, and Hard Trial tiers, with the next tier unlocking after the previous one is completed. That makes 27 Trials across the three special forms. Trial rewards vary by Trial and Chimera difficulty, and a completed keyed battle is needed to receive them.

Choose conditions your roster can meet consistently: completing more Trials also strengthens Ultimate, so maximizing the number is not automatically the best choice for every run.
Plarium’s November 7, 2025 digest recorded changes to some Trial thresholds and clarified one Lion condition: when a Trial requires a stated number of debuffs including Decrease RES, that number must be active at the same time, but the debuffs do not have to be unique. The digest also listed adjustments involving Ram damage and Duel-bar conditions, required Stuns, Lion shield absorption and damage mechanics, and Viper Poison damage with Poison Sensitivity. Because Trial conditions can be rebalanced, confirm the exact requirement on the live Trial screen before building around it.

For Clan versus Clan points, Plarium says each completed Trial raises the multiplier, but the increased multiplier applies only to damage dealt after that Trial is completed. If Clash points are your goal, completing suitable Trials earlier in the run can therefore increase the points earned by later damage.

No roster-independent five-Champion lineup is established as best across all accounts, difficulties, affinities, and goals. A useful Chimera team is the strongest lineup your roster can keep alive through the encounter while addressing the active form mechanics and completing Trials you can reliably clear.

The battle lasts 65 turns. Judge whether a lineup can stay in the fight through the changing forms, not only how quickly it deals damage early.
- Match the active affinity. Check the rotation in game before selecting Champions; the shared affinity for Ram, Lion, and Viper changes with the rotation.
- Cover the forms. Account for Ram’s Duel, Lion’s marked-target danger, and Viper’s Poison association. Do not assume ordinary protection solves Hunter’s Gaze or that Taunt or Veil redirects Duel.
- Choose Trials you can repeat. The most ambitious Trial set is not necessarily the best run if it makes Ultimate too difficult or prevents you from finishing the battle.
- Set the lineup for your goal. Personal damage and chest rewards, Trial rewards, and Clash points can favor different choices.
For a roster-specific recommendation, an optimizer can evaluate Champions on your account; third-party guides such as HellHades discuss this approach. Treat third-party suggestions as account-dependent advice, not as an official ranking or a universal best team.
Keys, Clan rewards, and progression
Chimera’s six difficulties are Easy, Normal, Hard, Brutal, Nightmare, and Ultra-Nightmare. A Clan unlocks the next difficulty by defeating the current one, and the unlock is permanent for that Clan. Clan damage is pooled toward defeating the boss; Plarium says a contributor receives one Chimera Chest if the boss survives and two if the Clan defeats it.
Plarium lists Clan Gold, Clan XP, Starstones, Basalt, Gemstones, and Ocular Masses among Chimera-related rewards. HellHades’ guide, last updated November 25, 2025, also describes Chimera as a recurring source of Relic materials including Starstone, Basalt, and Gemstones, and identifies Embrys the Anomaly as a Chimera-exclusive Mythical Champion. Exact rewards depend on the difficulty and Trial; check the in-game reward screen for the current run.
