Ragnarok Origin: ROO is not an upgrade or automatic replacement for the earlier Ragnarok Origin NA service (ROONA). It was announced as a separate service for North and Latin America, with its own progression, a dedicated PC client and cross-play. Existing ROONA accounts and progress do not transfer.
That distinction matters more than the similar names. Your best choice depends on your country, whether you already invested time in ROONA, and whether you want the newer PC-and-mobile service or to continue an existing character.

The table describes the relationship announced by the publisher, not a promise that every regional listing or feature remains unchanged in 2026. Store listings, servers, schedules and account entitlements are live-service details that can change.

What the two names actually mean
Ragnarok Origin is the franchise and game title, while regional operators have used that title for different services. The North American publisher called the established service Ragnarok Origin NA, commonly shortened to ROONA. It then announced ROO: Ragnarok Origin as an “all-new” game and service rather than a version update inside the old client.

The official notice states: “ROO:Ragnarok Origin will be launched as a completely new game and will run separately from the current ROONA.” That wording is the key to the comparison. Similar artwork, classes or systems do not imply a shared account database.
The split was also regional. ROONA was the existing North American service; ROO was planned to serve North America and Latin America. Calling one edition “NA” and the other “global” can therefore be misleading. There is no evidence in the official material of one universal account or one worldwide server cluster spanning every territory.
Why ROO was released separately
The announcement describes a new service with a dedicated PC client and cross-play. It does not describe an in-place conversion of ROONA characters, inventories or purchases. The publisher attributed the lack of migration to technical limitations and gave a direct warning: “Unfortunately, due to the technical limitations, we are unable to carry over any data or progress from ROONA to the upcoming ROO:Ragnarok Origin service.”
That prohibition should be read broadly. The notice refers to data and progress rather than naming only levels, so players should not expect jobs, equipment, cards, currencies, guild affiliations, achievements, cosmetics or purchase history to appear in the new service. The notice does not enumerate every entitlement, however; if a particular item is missing, only the operator for that service can confirm its status.
ROONA was not described as instantly shutting down when ROO opened. The notice said ROONA events and services would continue separately. It also said the old mobile app would be removed from mobile stores under store policies but remain downloadable through the publisher’s website. That was a launch-era announcement; it is not proof that the old download, login service or events are still available today.
Regional launch timeline
There is no single worldwide launch date. Gravity’s 2025 Form 20-F records these regional starts:

The Americas date in the filing provides corporate launch context for Ragnarok Origin in North, Central and South America. It should not be read as evidence that ROONA was converted into ROO or that every country opened on the same day.
Regional dates also explain why search results can conflict. A page announcing the Southeast Asian release is not evidence that the same client serves an American player. Gravity Game Hub’s Southeast Asia announcement is dated May 4, 2023, while the corporate filing places the Americas commercial launch in February 2024. Korea and Japan are listed as having ended service in March 2026, so an old regional guide can be obsolete even when the title remains active elsewhere.
ROONA versus ROO: the practical differences
Separate accounts and progression
A character created in ROONA remains tied to ROONA. Starting ROO means creating or advancing a separate character there. Levels, jobs, equipment, cards, currencies, guild status, achievements and other progress should be treated as non-transferable unless the local operator explicitly states otherwise. The official notice covers the general inability to carry over data or progress; it does not list every individual entitlement.

For a returning player, record the old server, character name and account identifier before experimenting with ROO. Keep receipts for paid items and do not delete the old client until you know the service is accessible through its current channel. Those steps cannot move progress, but they give regional support the information needed to investigate a login or entitlement problem.
Regional coverage
ROO was announced for North America and Latin America, giving players in Latin American countries a service specifically intended for that market. ROONA was the earlier North American service. Your country’s actual eligibility still depends on the current storefront, launcher and support policy, so a country being named in a launch announcement is not a substitute for checking today’s availability.

The new service was announced with a dedicated PC client and cross-play between PC and mobile. Cross-play should be understood as a feature within the ROO service: it does not mean a ROONA character can log into ROO, nor does it prove that every regional client shares one account system. The announcement does not provide a complete, current list of ROONA clients, operating-system requirements or feature parity between platforms. Do not assume that a PC account can sign into both services or that every mobile purchase appears on every regional client.
Gravity Game Hub’s Southeast Asia materials list a PC client alongside Apple Store, Google Play, Huawei AppGallery and OPPO App Market. A later official update tutorial dated May 17, 2026 tells players to update through app stores or the PC launcher. Those references confirm distribution channels for that region, not identical availability in North America, Latin America or every device configuration.
Mobile-store distribution
The publisher said ROONA would be removed from mobile app stores and remain downloadable from its website. ROO’s regional launch materials document Apple Store, Google Play, Huawei AppGallery, OPPO App Market and a PC client for Southeast Asia. Store availability can differ by country, operating system, age rating and publisher account, so use the listing intended for your territory rather than installing an unofficial package.
Events and schedules
ROONA events and services were announced to continue independently after ROO’s release. That statement establishes the intended separation at launch, not the current event calendar, server uptime or compensation policy. The official material does not establish that an event, reset time or maintenance window is synchronized between the two services.

Gravity Game Hub’s Southeast Asia launch description presents Ragnarok Origin as a mobile-and-PC MMORPG sequel to Ragnarok Online. It highlights familiar jobs, social play, pets and mounts, boss encounters and an open-world setting. It also mentions a pity system associated with cards and equipment refinement.
Those descriptions explain the broad game identity, but they do not form a complete ROONA-versus-ROO specification. The official sources do not settle the following comparisons:
- Whether every class, job path and skill is identical in both services.
- Whether item stats, drop rates, refinement tables or pity thresholds match.
- Whether servers have the same populations, language mix or latency.
- Whether event times, rewards and progression boosts are synchronized.
- Whether all account entitlements, cosmetic items or purchases exist in both services.
Use local patch notes and customer support for those details. Inferring parity from the shared title can lead to incorrect expectations, especially when a guide was written for a different territory or an earlier version of the service.

Which service should you choose?
If you already play ROONA
Remain with ROONA if preserving your existing character and inventory is your priority and the service is still accessible in your country. Moving to ROO means starting over because the publisher said ROONA data and progress cannot be carried across. You can investigate ROO as a separate game, but do not delete the old client or assume a new login will recover the old account.

Check both services’ current official listings and support pages before creating an account. ROO is the newer service announced for the Americas and includes the dedicated PC client and cross-play. ROONA may still matter if friends, guildmates or prior purchases are tied to that service, but its mobile-store distribution was already described as changing.
If you are in Latin America
ROO was the service explicitly expanded to include Latin America. Confirm that your country appears in the current store or launcher listing, that the language and payment method work for you, and that the server region gives acceptable latency. Do not rely on a download link intended for another territory.
If you are outside the Americas
Do not treat ROO as the default worldwide edition. Gravity records separate launches for Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and China. The correct client is determined by your territory, not simply by the English title. Korea and Japan are also recorded as having ceased service in March 2026, showing why current regional support matters.
If PC play is essential
ROO has the clearest documented PC option: a dedicated PC client with cross-play was part of its announcement. Verify the current launcher download, operating-system support and account-linking instructions before installing. The available evidence does not provide equivalent current PC specifications for ROONA.

- Identify your country. Write down the country where the account will be used and paid for; regional stores can show different services.
- Use the official regional website or app-store listing. Check the publisher name, service name and supported territory. Avoid mirrored installers and unofficial APK files.
- Read the latest notice. Look for account-transfer rules, maintenance announcements, service closures and required launcher updates.
- Confirm the client combination. If you need PC-and-mobile play, verify that the same ROO service supports both and explains how cross-play accounts are linked.
- Check your existing login. Sign in to ROONA before starting ROO if you have prior progress. Record the server, character name and purchase history for support purposes.
- Review payment and support coverage. Confirm your currency, payment method, age requirements and the support channel for your region.
- Only then create or download. Treat the first ROO character as a new progression path unless an official notice specifically announces a migration.
Monetization and regional price ranges
Gravity’s 2025 filing describes Ragnarok Origin as a live-service game using virtual-item microtransactions and a gacha system. The filing reports the following purchase ranges as of December 31, 2025:

The figures are unusually broad: the filing reports an American range reaching US$999.99, while Southeast Asia tops out at US$99.99 and China is reported in yuan. They are ranges reported by the publisher, not a current shop catalogue, a promise that every pack is offered to every account, or a recommendation to spend. They also do not prove that ROONA and ROO use identical economies, bundles, exchange rates or refund rules.
The launch description’s mention of pity for cards and equipment refinement likewise does not establish matching rules across every regional service. Check the local shop, odds disclosure and support policy rather than importing assumptions from another server.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming ROO is a patch for ROONA
Installing ROO will not update a ROONA character. Check the service name on the login screen and keep separate records for each account.

Expecting old progress to appear automatically
The publisher explicitly ruled out carrying ROONA data or progress into ROO. If a new account starts at the beginning, that is consistent with the announced architecture rather than evidence that your old character was deleted.
Calling one client “global”
Ragnarok Origin has territory-specific launches and operators. Use the regional name supplied by the official listing and confirm support for your country.
Using an old mobile-store result
ROONA’s removal from mobile stores was announced as part of the separation. A search result, cached page or third-party download may not reflect current support. Obtain the installer from the publisher’s current channel.
Assuming identical events or prices
The official sources do not establish synchronized schedules, populations, feature parity or uniform pricing. Check the notice for your server before planning around a reward, reset or purchase.
Confusing cross-play with cross-service access
ROO’s dedicated PC client and mobile cross-play describe how devices connect to that service. They do not indicate that ROONA and ROO share servers, characters or purchases.

The official announcement and corporate filing are sufficient to establish the service split, regional intent, no-transfer rule, PC-client announcement and dated monetization ranges. They do not establish current ROONA uptime, the population of any server, a complete class-and-feature matrix, every country’s storefront status, or the present value of each currency pack.
Those unresolved details are especially important for a returning player. A service can continue in principle while changing its download path, event cadence or support hours. Check the latest local notice immediately before installing or spending, and contact regional support when an entitlement or purchase is missing.
Bottom line for players
Choose ROO when you want the newer Americas service, Latin American coverage or the announced dedicated PC client with cross-play. Choose ROONA only when its current access and your existing progress outweigh the benefits of starting on the newer service. In either case, treat the two as separate games with separate progression, and verify the current regional listing before spending money or committing to a character.

Can I transfer my ROONA character, items or purchases to ROO?
No transfer was promised. The announcement specifically says technical limitations prevent carrying data or progress from ROONA to ROO. Treat levels, jobs, equipment, currencies, guild records and other entitlements as separate unless the local operator says otherwise.
Does ROONA still work after ROO launched?
The launch notice said ROONA events and services would continue separately and that its mobile app would remain downloadable from the publisher’s website after leaving app stores. That was a historical statement, so check the current regional login and support pages for present availability.
Is ROO the global version of Ragnarok Origin?
Not in the sense of one worldwide service. Gravity records separate regional launches, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, Southeast Asia, the Americas and China. Use the client intended for your country.
