You should not buy a new RAGE:MP hosting plan. The RAGE:MP Team announced on May 25, 2026 that the platform would wind down at Take-Two’s request. The public server listing was scheduled to close on June 1, 2026, and remaining community servers were expected to stop by August 31, 2026. That end-of-support date has passed.
If you still operate a RAGE:MP community, the practical next step is migration rather than finding a cheaper host. The RAGE:MP announcement identifies FiveM as the authorized GTAV multiplayer modding platform and urges server owners to move. A provider change alone will not convert scripts, resources, databases or gameplay logic; migration requires a technical port, testing and a planned community cutover.
What happened to RAGE:MP?
The RAGE:MP Team published its shutdown announcement on May 25, 2026. It said that, at Take-Two’s request, RAGE:MP would enter a structured wind-down. The announcement ended acceptance of new community servers immediately and discontinued public access to the RAGE:MP server toolkit.

The team used the heading “No New Community Servers” and stated: “Starting immediately, no new community servers will be accepted onto RAGE:MP, and public access to the RAGE:MP server toolkit has been discontinued.” It also said the backend would be permanently shut down and that the client and server toolkit would no longer be available or supported after the final date.

Those milestones are now historical. As of October 13, 2026, the announced end-of-support date is past, so there is no responsible current comparison of “cheapest” RAGE:MP hosts. Old offers, forum posts or cached hosting pages cannot restore a discontinued backend or provide supported platform access.
Shutdown timeline

The announcement told owners, “By that time, community servers must have migrated.” It also said: “As FiveM is now Rockstar Games’ official platform for modding-based experiences, we’ve done our best to give you extra time to move your servers to their new home, and we will continue to do everything we can to make the switch over as smooth as possible.” That is the RAGE:MP Team’s statement and should not be read as a promise that RAGE:MP content converts automatically.
Can you still host a RAGE:MP server?
Not as a supported, new deployment. The shutdown removed the platform services that a normal public server depends on, and the announced end date has passed. A machine might still contain old files, but that is not equivalent to an operating platform: the official backend, toolkit availability, server discovery and support commitments are gone.

Do not spend money on a plan advertised as “cheap RAGE:MP hosting” unless the seller can demonstrate a legitimate, current service—which would conflict with the platform’s announced closure. Treat an old control-panel template, cached search result or recycled review as stale until independently verified.
Why old RAGE:MP setup guides are misleading now
The RAGE Multiplayer server wiki documented Windows and Linux installation and listed default ports of UDP 22005 for server access and 22006 for HTTP hosting of client packages. Those instructions describe how the platform worked before the shutdown; they are not a current availability guarantee.
Search indexes also preserved an old server-listing result showing 136 servers, 8,706 gamers online and a gamer peak of 90,815. The result was crawled roughly 2.6 years before the October 2026 status described here. Those figures are stale and cannot establish current server activity, player counts or host availability.

Where should an existing community move?
The RAGE:MP announcement points owners toward FiveM. Cfx documentation describes FiveM as supporting two deployment routes: a managed game-server hosting provider or a self-managed server using its setup guides. You need a free Cfx license key before creating a server, regardless of which route you choose.
If you prefer the managed route, Godlike.Host offers FiveM server hosting with its own Pterodactyl-based game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection; see the current plans for details. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized FiveM hosts (fivem.net, 10 Oct 2026).
FiveM is not a drop-in replacement for RAGE:MP. Cfx’s migration documentation identifies implementation differences in scripts and runtimes, entity ownership and synchronization, routing buckets and other platform behavior. A host can supply a machine and control panel, but it cannot automatically rewrite incompatible resources or reproduce every gameplay assumption.

A practical RAGE:MP-to-FiveM migration plan
- Freeze the old environment. Make a complete, read-only archive of scripts, client assets, server configuration, databases, moderation records, maps, permissions and documentation. Record the versions and dependencies that the old community actually used.
- Inventory every resource. Classify each item as essential gameplay, administration, economy, UI, map content, integration or obsolete. Note which resources communicate with one another and which rely on RAGE:MP-specific APIs.
- Choose the operating model. Decide between a managed provider and self-management on Windows or Linux. A managed service can reduce routine machine administration; self-management gives direct control over files, processes and infrastructure but makes you responsible for patching, backups, firewall rules and recovery.
- Create the FiveM account and license key. Follow Cfx’s current setup process and obtain the free license key before starting the server. Keep the key and administrative credentials in a protected password manager rather than in public configuration files.
- Build a clean test server. Download current server artifacts, run FXServer with txAdmin, and install resources one group at a time. Do not copy the entire old directory and assume it is compatible. Port scripts and runtime calls to FiveM’s supported interfaces, then test entity creation, ownership, synchronization, interiors, vehicles, inventories, jobs and persistence.
- Rework platform-specific behavior. Revisit code that assumes RAGE:MP entity ownership, synchronization timing, routing or runtime semantics. Replace unsupported calls, review resource start order and check server and client logs after each change. Test with several connected clients, not only the administrator.
- Validate network access. Confirm the chosen server port, host firewall and any provider firewall or security group. Cfx troubleshooting guidance notes that incorrect port forwarding or firewall configuration can prevent visibility and connections. Test from outside the host’s own network.
- Plan the cutover. Announce the new address and timetable, explain which features are changing, export or transform player data where lawful and technically possible, schedule downtime, and keep the old archive untouched. Run a closed beta before directing the whole community to the new server.
- Switch discovery and support channels. Update your website, Discord or other community documentation, remove obsolete RAGE:MP connection instructions and publish a clear rollback or incident process for the first days after launch.

How to compare a FiveM host without chasing a fake “cheapest” label
No provider has been independently established here as the cheapest, fastest or most reliable. Obtain current, like-for-like quotes and record the date, region and billing term. A low introductory figure can be misleading if renewal, setup or location charges are higher.

Do not call a host “cheapest” unless the same region, resources, billing period, backup terms and player target have been compared on the same date. The official FiveM setup documentation establishes hosting as an option; it does not establish current vendor prices or service quality.
Troubleshooting the first FiveM deployment
Players cannot see or join the server
Check that the server is running, the advertised endpoint matches the configured port, and the host firewall and provider firewall allow the required traffic. Test from a separate network. A local connection can succeed even when external port forwarding is wrong.

Resources fail during startup
Read the FXServer and resource logs, verify dependencies and start order, and test one resource at a time. RAGE:MP-specific scripts need porting; copying them unchanged is a common cause of runtime errors.
The server works but is unsupported
Check the artifact age and update policy. Cfx warns that outdated artifacts may continue to run without support, while artifacts older than three months will not be joinable from the server browser. Treat regular artifact maintenance as an operating task, not a one-time installation step.
The community needs more than 48 slots
Budget for the required Element Club Argentum subscription or a higher tier before advertising the larger capacity. Confirm the current entitlement and limits in Cfx’s documentation because subscription rules can change.

Bottom line for the original search
There is no current “good cheap RAGE:MP host” to recommend: the platform’s announced shutdown has passed. Preserve your old data, stop paying for unsupported promises, and evaluate a FiveM migration on engineering fit, total recurring cost, latency, backups, security, support and exportability. The cheapest quote is useful only after it satisfies those requirements and your converted resources pass a real test.
