RACV Annual Multi-Trip can suit Australian leisure travellers taking several trips in a year, provided every trip fits the selected 30-, 45- or 60-day limit. It covers eligible overseas trips and Australian trips more than 250 km from home, but Australian travel has no medical, hospital, dental or evacuation cover. Cruise and winter-sports cover also need attention before you buy.
How RACV Annual Multi-Trip works
The policy runs for 12 months and covers an unlimited number of trips during that period. You choose a maximum duration of 30, 45 or 60 days for each trip. The RACV Travel Insurance Combined PDS/FSG, issued by Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. and effective 31 March 2026, describes this structure as annual cover for unlimited trips subject to the selected per-trip maximum. RACV’s product page also explains the duration choices.
The PDS says section sums insured are automatically reinstated when each trip is completed. The trip limit is not an allowance that can be extended after departure: cover generally ceases at the selected limit, except where a covered event delays or prolongs the trip under the policy terms. Choose a limit that accommodates your longest planned journey and check the PDS for the exact exception wording.
For policies starting on or after 31 March 2026 at 12:01 a.m., use the Combined PDS/FSG effective 31 March 2026. RACV says your Certificate of Insurance (COI) confirms the details you supplied and forms part of the contract alongside the PDS/FSG. Read both for the actual destinations, limits, options and accepted conditions on your policy. RACV’s travel insurance page links to current policy information.

Which trips are covered—and what domestic cover excludes
Annual Multi-Trip applies to international journeys and Australian trips more than 250 km from home. That distance rule is important: it is not general cover for every domestic getaway.
For the Australian portion of a trip, the PDS expressly excludes medical, hospital, dental and evacuation expenses. Domestic travel cover therefore should not be read as domestic health insurance. Check what other domestic sections apply to your itinerary in the PDS and COI, and consider separately how you would meet medical costs in Australia.

What the headline benefits provide
The current PDS benefit table lists the following Annual Multi-Trip maxima. These are policy limits, not promises that every loss will be paid. Eligibility rules, exclusions, section conditions, sub-limits and special-case limits can affect a claim.
Recommended Free Tools
| Benefit | Headline limit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Overseas medical and hospital expenses | Unlimited | “Unlimited” means no stated dollar cap for this benefit; eligibility and exclusions still apply. It does not apply to the Australian portion. |
| Emergency expenses | Unlimited | Check the PDS definition and conditions for eligible emergency expenses. |
| Your legal liability | $10,000,000 | RACV/Tokio Marine, 2026 PDS; exclusions and conditions apply. |
| Rental car excess | $8,000 | RACV/Tokio Marine, 2026 PDS; check the section terms and applicable circumstances. |
| Luggage | $15,000 | Separate item limits apply, so check the limit for valuable items. |
| Travel documents | $5,000 | Read the benefit conditions in the PDS. |
| Luggage delay | $750 | Eligibility and conditions apply. |
| Personal money | $500 | Eligibility and conditions apply. |
| Cancellation fees and lost deposits | Choice of limit | Select a limit suited to the prepaid costs you want insured and check the PDS terms. |
| Travel delay | $3,000 | Daily limits apply. |
All figures are the RACV/Tokio Marine 2026 PDS headline benefits. Check the current PDS and your COI for the operative limits and wording rather than relying on a summary table alone.

When optional cover is needed
Ocean cruises
Select the Cruise Benefits option for ocean cruising and list all countries or regions you will visit when purchasing. International and domestic river cruising is included automatically according to the PDS; that does not mean ocean cruises are automatically covered.
Skiing and winter sports
Select the Ski and Winter Sports option if you want cover while participating in those activities. Check the option’s terms against the activities you plan, rather than assuming all winter sports are covered by default.

Medical conditions
RACV says 38 medical conditions are automatically covered when the PDS criteria are met. A condition appearing on that list is not enough on its own: verify that your circumstances satisfy the criteria. Conditions requiring assessment may attract an additional premium, and acceptance is not automatic. Disclose and confirm conditions as directed in the quote process, then check what the COI records.
Destinations, age and eligibility
List your destinations and regions when purchasing, excluding stopovers under 24 hours. If your destinations change later, contact the insurer; it may agree to cover the new destination and may change the premium. Verify that the final destinations and any agreed changes appear in your policy documents.

RACV’s current product page says Annual Multi-Trip is available to travellers up to age 75. Eligibility and other conditions still apply, so older travellers should confirm their circumstances during the quote process. RACV’s stated age limit and medical-condition information are product details, not a guarantee that a particular application will be accepted.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to judge the price and compare alternatives
There is no useful fixed premium without a live quote. The amount depends on the traveller and trip details, destinations, trip-duration choice, selected options, medical assessment, cancellation limit and excess. RACV says members save 15% on premium only, excluding applicable taxes; check that the offer remains available and how it applies to your quote. RACV also says a lower excess usually means a higher premium.
Compare the total cost and protection across the year, not just the annual quote against one single-trip policy. RACV’s comparison guidance notes that benefits, limits and exclusions differ between policies; read the PDS for each option you consider. RACV’s comparison information also identifies trip frequency, destinations, duration, activities, dependants, health and excess or budget as factors to weigh.

Who provides and administers the policy?
Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. is the insurer. RACV is an authorised representative. Tokio Marine Management (Australasia) Pty Ltd is the managing agent, administering the policy and handling and settling claims on the insurer’s behalf. These roles are set out in the current Combined PDS/FSG; RACV is not the insurer.
