There is no universal winner between Rackspace and GoDaddy: the services surfaced for comparison are not like-for-like. GoDaddy lists self-serve shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, and VPS plans. Rackspace’s surfaced offering is managed infrastructure, including services such as databases, networking, virtualization, storage, and cloud connectivity. For a small site seeking a listed plan, GoDaddy is the more direct fit; for an organization needing scoped, managed infrastructure, Rackspace is the more relevant place to start.
Are Rackspace and GoDaddy direct alternatives?
Not on the evidence available for this comparison. GoDaddy’s Hosting & Security Services Agreement covers shared web hosting, managed WordPress hosting, and VPS, while Rackspace’s managed-hosting overview describes a customizable infrastructure portfolio. That makes this primarily a buyer-fit decision, not a direct contest between equivalent entry-level hosting plans.
Rackspace’s surfaced page does not establish a retail shared-hosting or managed WordPress plan comparable to GoDaddy’s entry plans. If you are considering Rackspace for a website, confirm the specific service and request a quote based on your workload, management needs, and support requirements.
Which provider fits your kind of project?
Choose GoDaddy for a self-serve small site or managed WordPress plan
GoDaddy’s surfaced US plan page lists shared hosting and managed WordPress options with named entry tiers and features. Its hosting agreement describes managed WordPress services including installation, automated daily backups, WordPress core updates, and server-level caching. This gives a small-site owner a more concrete starting point when choosing a listed plan.
#1 Best Overall
Consider Rackspace for managed infrastructure needs
Rackspace is the more relevant starting point if your organization needs managed infrastructure, database administration, network services, private cloud, virtualization, or hybrid-cloud connectivity. The configuration and service scope depend on the solution, so ask for a proposal that spells out responsibilities, support, and service levels rather than comparing it with a shared-hosting price.
Compare VPS with a scoped infrastructure proposal, not shared hosting
GoDaddy’s agreement describes VPS with root access and a dedicated IP; managed VPS support may include patching, capacity and health monitoring, and backups. That is a more appropriate technical comparison point than GoDaddy shared hosting if you need server-level control. Rackspace’s exact configuration depends on the solution it proposes.
What GoDaddy’s surfaced entry prices include
The US GoDaddy plan page surfaced these introductory prices for the first one-year term. They are not verified renewal prices, and they should not be treated as universal rates; GoDaddy’s separate regional page showed euro-denominated plans and different prices.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

|---|---|---|
| Economy | $6.99 per month for the first one-year term | One website, 25 GB NVMe storage, cPanel, and a free domain, email, and one-year SSL subject to page terms. |
| WordPress Basic | $6.99 per month for the first one-year term | One website, 10 GB NVMe storage, managed WordPress controls, and a WordPress migration tool. |
These plan-page details are from GoDaddy’s US web-hosting listings. Check the price and renewal terms shown for your market and checkout term before committing. No directly comparable Rackspace entry-level shared-hosting price was established on the surfaced official page.

What to check before migrating a site to GoDaddy
Migration can affect your decision because assistance is not guaranteed and the site owner retains important responsibilities. GoDaddy’s agreement says it may attempt migration at its discretion, without guaranteeing availability, feasibility, or completion time. It excludes sites larger than 10 GB or with more than 100,000 files from its Hosting Migration terms.
- Make and verify an independent backup of the source site before migration. GoDaddy says it does not create a backup or archive as part of the migration service.
- Confirm that your site falls within the agreement’s size and file-count limits, and verify which migration assistance is actually available for your plan.
- After migration, review site functionality and arrange the DNS update yourself; the agreement leaves those checks and changes to the customer.
- Plan the DNS cutover and allow time to test the site after the change rather than assuming a transfer will be seamless.
How to interpret GoDaddy’s uptime guarantee
GoDaddy’s agreement states a 99.9% monthly uptime guarantee. For a qualifying miss, a customer may request a credit equal to 5% of that month’s hosting fee, usable only toward further GoDaddy products and services. The agreement lists exclusions, including scheduled maintenance, customer code or third-party applications, certain FTP or email-only interruptions, and causes beyond GoDaddy’s control. This is a limited contractual remedy, not a cash refund or an independent measurement of uptime.
Rank #4
Rackspace’s surfaced page identifies 24x7x365 monitoring and security for some network services, but that is not a directly comparable general website-hosting SLA. Ask both providers for the agreement governing the exact service you would buy, including what is measured, exceptions, support coverage, and remedies.
What to compare before choosing
Once you have matched the service category to your needs, use these questions to evaluate the actual offers:
Best Value
- Management: Who handles server maintenance, WordPress updates, databases, security, and backups?
- Control: Do you need root access, dedicated resources, or a managed environment where the provider handles administration?
- Workload: What are your site, storage, traffic, and application requirements?
- Migration and recovery: What work is included, what limits apply, and who creates and verifies backups?
- Support and service levels: What support channels and response scope are included, and what does the applicable SLA promise?
- Total cost: What are the renewal price, term, geography, currency, and any separately scoped services?
G2’s surfaced comparison lists “Meets Requirements” scores of 8.4/10 for GoDaddy (181 reviews) and 8.8/10 for Rackspace (16 reviews), plus ease-of-use scores of 8.5/10 (185 reviews) and 7.4/10 (16 reviews), respectively. These reviewer scores have unequal and modest counts; they are not controlled performance tests and do not establish which host is faster or more reliable. No independent comparative uptime or performance test is established here.
