Qwen3.8-27B is an open-weight, 27-billion-parameter dense model from Alibaba’s Qwen team, built for text and native image-and-video understanding. Its model card also describes coding, research, professional-work, and agentic use cases. You can run it through several inference frameworks, but the published weight-file sizes are not a minimum GPU-memory specification, and Qwen’s benchmark scores are vendor-reported rather than independent validation.
What Qwen3.8-27B is
Qwen3.8-27B is a causal language model with a vision encoder. The model card describes 27 billion language-model parameters, 64 layers, and a hybrid design combining Gated DeltaNet and gated attention blocks. Qwen’s official repository lists the model’s availability on Hugging Face Hub and ModelScope from August 14, 2026. Read the Qwen3.8-27B model card or visit the official Qwen3.8 repository for the project’s current files and guidance.

The weights are identified as Apache 2.0 licensed in the official repository. “Open-weight” is the precise description: access to model weights does not by itself mean that every part of a model’s training data, development process, or surrounding software is open source. Check the license and terms attached to the artifact you intend to use. The official Qwen3.8-27B README identifies the weights’ license.

Yes. Qwen describes Qwen3.8-27B as a native vision-language model, with image and video understanding that includes documents and STEM diagrams. These are capabilities stated by the model publisher; the sources available here do not provide independent testing of image or video performance. The model card is the place to check for its modality-specific details and supported usage examples.
#1 Best Overall
- High-Performance AI Processor:The MS-02 Ultra features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX (24C/24T, up to 5.5 GHz, 13 TOPS NPU), delivering fast and efficient performance for AI inference, algorithm development, and media workloads. A PCIe x16 expansion slot supports desktop-class GPU upgrades for advanced model training and accelerated computing tasks. It's ideal for creators, engineers, and teams handling intensive parallel workloads.

Four PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots support up to 24 TB of storage, supporting RAID 0/1/5/10, combining high-speed performance with data protection. It allows for the creation of independent scratch disks, media libraries, and project drives, providing high-throughput for production workflows.
- PCIe & USB 4.0 v2: Up to three PCIe slots can be equipped, including a dual-slot x16 GPU. The main slot supports PCIe 5.0, meeting the needs of high-bandwidth creative and computing workloads. USB 4.0 v2 (80Gbps) supports high-bandwidth external storage and displays.
- Ultra-fast Networking: Wi-Fi 7 further enhances wireless performance with next-generation speeds and low-latency stability. Intelligent bandwidth switching optimizes throughput in different network environments, ensuring optimal performance for enterprise or local networks. Dual 25GbE ports (providing up to approximately 3.125 GB/s bandwidth, about 25 times faster than traditional 1GbE), enabling seamless large-scale file transfers and parallel computing. 10GbE and 2.5GbE ports, with support for Intel vPro technology, ensure enterprise-grade remote management and deployment flexibility.
- Server-grade thermal architecture: Utilizing a dedicated CPU/GPU airflow design, equipped with a 6-pipe dual-fan cooler, it maintains stable performance even under sustained loads, delivering up to 140W Turbo power while maintaining a 100W TDP, and operating with noise levels as low as 36 dB. An integrated 350W power supply ensures stable and reliable output for demanding computing tasks and fully loaded extended configurations.
How much context can it handle?
The model card gives Qwen3.8-27B a native context window of 262,144 tokens and describes an extension to 1,000,000 tokens. Treat those as different configurations, not interchangeable defaults: the card describes one million tokens as an extension, while official serving examples use 262,144-token configurations. It also says a hosted version with one-million-token context by default is forthcoming; that statement is not confirmation that the hosted configuration is currently available.
A larger context window can allow a request to include more material, but the stated maximum alone does not establish the memory, latency, or cost of a particular deployment. Those depend on the runtime and configuration as well as the request.
What do its benchmark results show?
Qwen’s model card publishes the following Qwen3.8-27B results. They are vendor-reported benchmark scores, not independently reproduced measurements in the sources cited here.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Benchmark | Qwen-published score |
|---|---|
| Terminal Bench 2.1 (Terminus) | 73.0 |
| SWE-bench Pro | 61.7 |
| NL2Repo-Bench | 42.3 |
| DeepSWE 1.1 | 42.2 |
| QwenSWEBench | 79.0 |
These tasks measure different things, so their scores should not be compared as though they share one scale. A score is meaningful only alongside its benchmark definition, evaluation setup, and comparison set. The model card includes neighboring-model results and task labels; consult it before making a specific head-to-head comparison. None of these figures establishes a universal ranking or predicts how the model will perform on a particular project. See Qwen’s full benchmark tables and stated evaluation details in the model card.
How to run Qwen3.8-27B
The official materials describe several deployment routes, but framework compatibility and support for image or video inputs can vary. Check the current framework documentation and model-specific examples before choosing a route.
Rank #2
- EVOLUTION RYZEN AI MAX+ 395 MINI PC - GMKtec EVO-X2 is the next evolution in AI mini PC Ryzen Strix Halo series. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) the core-count is effectively doubled, to 32 threads. Ryzen AI Max+ 395 has 64 MB of L3 cache and can boost up to 5.1 GHz, depending on the workload. The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is currently rated as the "most powerful x86 APU" on the market for AI computing.

Ideal for gaming, video editing, and multitasking, it provides expansive and crisp multi-display support.
- Transformers: The official repository provides a server example with an OpenAI-compatible local endpoint.
- Serving frameworks: The repository includes examples for SGLang, vLLM, and TokenSpeed. The model card also lists these, along with Transformers, as compatible with its artifacts.
- Local-use options: The repository points to llama.cpp, Apple Silicon MLX tooling, and Unsloth. Confirm current model and modality support in the relevant project documentation.
For exact commands and configuration, use the official repository’s deployment examples rather than assuming that one framework’s instructions apply to another. Its examples include 262,144-token serving configurations; the one-million-token extension should not be presumed to work with every backend or setup.
Thinking behavior and request controls
Qwen says thinking mode is on by default. Its guidance describes disabling it per request, tuning it with reasoning_effort, and retaining historical reasoning context with preserve_thinking. These are controls over model behavior, not guarantees of more accurate answers. Consult the model card for the applicable request format and supported options.
What hardware does it need?
NVIDIA’s NGC version history lists signed BF16 and FP8 artifacts dated August 24, 2026, at 51.77 GB and 28.77 GB, respectively. Those figures describe the listed artifacts—not minimum VRAM requirements. Check NVIDIA’s NGC version history for the listed files.
Memory needed to serve the model depends on factors such as precision or quantization, context length, runtime overhead, and framework configuration. Artifact size alone cannot determine whether a particular GPU or workstation will run it successfully. The cited materials do not establish a minimum VRAM figure, inference speed, or power requirement.
Is hosted access available?
Qwen lists Qwen Studio and Qwen Cloud as hosted access routes. However, the model card describes a hosted Qwen3.8-27B offering with additional production features, built-in tools, and one-million-token context by default as “coming soon.” That announcement does not establish that those particular features are available now; check the official product pages for current access and capabilities.
