QuickBooks Online is a capable cloud accounting subscription for small businesses, but whether it is worth the cost after its latest price increase depends on the workflows and user limits your business needs. US list prices are $38 to $340 per month, and the higher tiers unlock features such as budgets, project profitability, expanded permissions, and automation. Promotional rates are temporary; the subscription renews at the then-current price after the offer period.
QuickBooks Online pricing and plans in 2026
The following are US monthly list prices, not introductory promotional rates. Intuit says the revised Essentials, Plus, and Advanced prices apply on subscription billing dates beginning August 1, 2026; Simple Start was unchanged in that update. Confirm the live checkout amount and offer terms before subscribing, since promotions and displayed prices can change.
| Plan | US monthly list price | Included billable users | What it adds or includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simple Start | $38 | 1 | Core business reports, transaction categorization, invoicing and payment collection, bill organization, mobile access, and accountant access. |
| Essentials | $85 | 3 | Enhanced sales, accounts receivable, and accounts payable reporting; employee time on invoices and appointment scheduling are also listed. |
| Plus | $140 | 5 | Inventory reports, budgets, project profitability tracking, classes, and locations. |
| Advanced | $340 | 25 | Customizable permissions, workflow automation, Excel sync, cash-flow and profit forecasting, batch invoices and expenses, backup and restore, and priority support and training. |
Intuit’s offer terms say the plan renews at the then-current price after the introductory period. The 2026 pricing update also described a six-month price-protection period for new clients; check the terms presented with your offer to confirm eligibility and duration.

Choose Simple Start for basic bookkeeping
Simple Start is the entry-level option if one billable user can handle your books and you primarily need transaction categorization, invoicing, payment collection, basic reports, and accountant collaboration. Its single-user ceiling is the key constraint to consider before choosing it.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose Essentials for a small team with more reporting needs
Essentials raises the included billable-user limit to three and adds enhanced sales, receivables, and payables reporting. Consider it when those workflows or the listed time-on-invoices and appointment-scheduling features matter enough to justify the price step.
Choose Plus when budgets, projects, or inventory reports matter
Plus is the first of these plans whose cited feature list explicitly includes budgets, project profitability tracking, inventory reports, classes, and locations. It includes five billable users. Upgrade for the specific capabilities you need rather than assuming a growing business automatically needs a higher tier.

Choose Advanced for its named controls and capacity
Advanced includes up to 25 billable users, customizable permissions, workflow automation, forecasting, batch entry, backup and restore, and priority support and training. Those features may suit businesses with more users or specific workflow and reporting needs, but the $340 monthly list price makes it important to identify the capability that warrants the upgrade.

Pros noted by the independent reviewer
- Strong core accounting and bank reconciliation capabilities.
- Extensive reporting, automation, and a broad integration ecosystem.
- Scalability across plans as a business’s requirements change.
Cons noted by the independent reviewer
- Higher 2026 prices and important features reserved for higher tiers.
- Costs can rise with add-ons, such as payroll or bill-pay services.
- A learning curve for users without accounting experience.
- Limitations for businesses with complex inventory needs.
Suralta’s review assigned QuickBooks Online an overall score of 4.67/5 and a pricing-and-value score of 4.00/5. These are Fit Small Business editorial ratings, not objective product-wide statistics. The reviewer said: “I wouldn’t judge QuickBooks Online’s 2026 price increase on cost alone. QBO has also become more capable, particularly with Accounting AI and AI-powered banking features that can reduce some of the manual work involved in reviewing, categorizing, and matching transactions.” Treat this as the reviewer’s view: AI features are changing, and some are labeled beta or capacity-limited in official materials. Automation does not eliminate the need to review accounting work or guarantee accuracy.
