The Qronge X1 Spark L looks compelling if you want Sur-Ron-style performance for less, especially for climbing—but its headline range is tied to a slow riding mode, and Electrek’s month-long review raised concerns about the brakes, inconsistent components and seat comfort. The $1,299.99 price was reported by Electrek on August 28, 2026; Qronge’s product page later displayed $1,399.99, so check the current checkout price rather than treating $1,299 as a live offer.

What is the Qronge X1 Spark L?

It is a compact, Sur-Ron-style electric dirt bike. Qronge lists a 4,500 W peak mid-drive motor and a 60 V, 28.8 Ah battery rated at 1,728 Wh. Those are manufacturer-published specifications, not independently measured output or capacity. The bike has 17-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels, weighs 146 lb according to Qronge, and has a stated maximum load of 350 lb.

Qronge lists a 150 mm front suspension, 75 mm rear suspension and 200 mm hydraulic brakes. It gives a rider-height range of 4 ft 7 in to 6 ft 3 in, a one-year warranty and a 15-day return window. Confirm that the warranty, return conditions and specifications apply to the specific unit and order you are considering.

How fast and how far can it ride?

Qronge claims a top speed of up to 50 mph and a maximum range of up to 60 miles, but those maximums do not describe the same riding conditions. Its mode table pairs the range claims with average speeds:

Mode Qronge’s claimed average speed Qronge’s claimed range Qronge’s claimed peak torque
Eco 12.5 mph Up to 60 miles 110 Nm
Sport 22 mph Up to 30 miles 185 Nm
Turbo 50 mph Up to 21 miles 283 Nm

These are manufacturer claims, not standardized range-test results. Electrek’s Seth Weintraub, writing after a month of testing and using a 200 lb rider as the basis for estimates, put range at about 30 miles at 22 mph and 21 miles at full throttle. Those estimates are not a controlled comparative test, but they make clear why the 60-mile figure should not be treated as a likely fast-ride distance. Terrain, pace and rider load also matter when assessing a real ride.

What did Electrek’s month of testing find?

Climbing and general performance

Electrek reported that the X1 Spark L climbed steep, loose inclines that stalled some less powerful budget bikes, and described its overall performance as good during the month-long test. That is a reviewer’s account of one testing period, not a controlled comparison against a Sur-Ron Light Bee.

Brakes, components and seat

The review called the brakes a concern and noted inconsistent components, but also said the hydraulic brakes worked during the test month. It did not report brake failure. The reviewer also said an adult rider would probably want to replace the seat, a potential extra expense whose compatible replacements and cost are not established here.

Does it make sense as a cheaper Sur-Ron Light Bee alternative?

It may suit a buyer prioritizing climbing ability and a lower purchase price over polished components and comfort out of the box. But the available sources do not provide a controlled, same-route comparison with the Sur-Ron Light Bee, so they cannot establish that the Qronge matches its performance, range, reliability or overall value.

Ask for battery and system safety documentation

The manufacturer page and Electrek review do not establish UL certification or other applicable safety certification for this bike or its battery. Ask Qronge for documentation for the exact model and battery rather than inferring certification from a product listing. CPSC advises consumers to choose micromobility products and batteries designed, manufactured and certified for applicable voluntary safety standards. It also advises using only the supplied or recommended charger and manufacturer-confirmed compatible replacement batteries. See CPSC micromobility safety guidance.

On June 22, 2026, CPSC Acting Chairman Peter A. Feldman said the Commission had approved publication for public comment of a proposed mandatory lithium-ion battery safety standard for micromobility products. That statement described a proposal, not a final rule or proof that the X1 Spark L complies. CPSC’s statement on the proposed standard gives its status as of that date.

The scale of the broader safety issue is not a model-specific risk estimate: CPSC reported at least 208 micromobility fire or overheating incidents and at least 19 fatalities for reports received from January 1, 2021, through November 28, 2022. Those historical counts cover micromobility devices generally, not the Qronge X1 Spark L. The CPSC release describes that reporting period.

Check where you may ride

The available product information and review do not settle whether this exact bike can be ridden on public roads or particular trails, or what registration and age restrictions apply. Those rules depend on location and vehicle classification. Check local motor-vehicle laws and the rules for the specific land or trail before riding; do not assume that a dirt-bike form factor makes it either street-legal or prohibited everywhere.
