PS5 Pro Enhanced is a PlayStation Store designation for a PS5 game that includes one or more developer-made improvements for the PS5 Pro. It is not a promise of one fixed resolution or frame rate: Sony says the features and results vary by game. Depending on the title, an update may use PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), more advanced ray tracing, or a higher and steadier frame rate.
You can browse the current catalog on the console by opening PlayStation Store > Collections > PS5 Pro Enhanced, or search the Store for PS5 Pro. The collection is regional and changes over time, so verify the live listing, the PS5 version and the edition you intend to play.

What the PS5 Pro Enhanced label means
The badge identifies a PS5 game with an implementation specifically tuned for PS5 Pro hardware. The improvement can be visual, performance-related, or both, but the badge itself does not describe the exact feature set. Sony’s product information summarizes the principle in one sentence: PS5 Pro enhanced features will vary by game.
You can read the full explanation on the PlayStation 5 Pro product page.

Think of the label as a compatibility and marketing signal with three separate layers:
#1 Best Overall
- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
| Layer | What it tells you | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Store designation | The PS5 version has been identified as having PS5 Pro enhancements. | It does not list a universal resolution, frame rate, ray-tracing level or PSSR mode. |
| Developer implementation | The game studio decides which rendering and performance changes to add and how players select them. | Another game with the same badge may use a completely different combination of features. |
| PS5 Pro hardware | The console provides extra graphics and processing capability that compatible software can use. | Hardware capability alone does not make every PS5 game enhanced. |
That distinction matters when you are deciding whether a game is worth revisiting. The badge confirms that an update exists, while the game’s own patch notes, graphics menu and current Store description explain what you will actually see.
Which improvements can an enhanced game use?
PSSR image reconstruction
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR, is Sony’s AI-assisted image-reconstruction technology. A compatible game can render internally at a lower workload and reconstruct a sharper output image. PSSR is intended to improve clarity, but the badge does not mean that every enhanced game uses it, nor that its output is native 4K in every scene. The reconstruction technique, internal resolution and image-quality target are selected by the developer.
More advanced ray tracing
Ray tracing calculates lighting interactions such as reflections, shadows or global illumination in a more physically based way than traditional shortcuts. PS5 Pro has additional graphics headroom for a game to increase ray-tracing quality or enable effects that would be too expensive in another mode. The exact objects affected and the performance cost are title-specific; a listing that says a game is enhanced does not establish which ray-traced effects are present.

Some enhanced patches target a faster frame rate, while others make an existing performance mode more stable during demanding scenes. Sony describes compatible games as capable of running at 60 frames per second, or up to 120 fps, alongside ray tracing and AI-enhanced 4K output on a 4K television. Those are possible combinations for compatible software, not a specification for every badge. A particular title may offer 30, 60 or 120 fps options, a dynamic target, or no selectable modes at all.
Several changes at once
A developer may combine improvements—for example, a sharper image at a performance-oriented frame rate, or higher-quality reflections while retaining a quality mode. The game can also expose separate presets, an automatic mode, or no user-facing switch. Read the title’s update notes and inspect its in-game display settings instead of inferring the configuration from the Store icon.
What the label does not guarantee
It is easy to read PS5 Pro Enhanced as shorthand for 4K at 60 fps with ray tracing. Sony does not make that universal promise. Its wording limits the claim to compatible games and says outcomes vary by title, so all of the following assumptions can be wrong:
- Native 4K: an enhanced title may use dynamic resolution, reconstruction, or a mixture of rendering targets. PSSR can improve perceived detail without establishing a native 4K image in every frame.
- 60 fps: the patch may prioritize image quality or ray tracing instead of a 60-fps target, or it may hold a target more consistently without reaching it in every scene.
- 120 fps: up-to-120-fps support is a possibility cited for compatible games, not a default setting. It also depends on the game mode and a display capable of accepting the signal.
- Ray tracing: the badge does not identify which effects are ray traced or whether the feature is enabled by default.
- PSSR: not every enhanced game necessarily uses Sony’s reconstruction system; developers choose their own implementation.
A 4K television is therefore an opportunity to see the highest output described by Sony, not a requirement stated for carrying the badge. The game remains PS5 software, and the useful question is which modes its developers actually shipped.
How to find PS5 Pro Enhanced games on a PS5
Use the Collections banner
- From the PS5 home screen, open PlayStation Store.
- Choose Collections in the Store navigation.
- Select the PS5 Pro Enhanced banner.
- Open an individual game page and check that the listed version is the PS5 edition you plan to play.
Sony documents this route in its support guidance. If the banner is not convenient to reach, use the Store search field and enter PS5 Pro. Search results can include the collection as well as individual product pages.
Browse the web catalog
The United States has a dedicated collection at PlayStation Store: PS5 Pro Enhanced Games. Store pages are region-aware, so a game visible in the US collection may have different availability, editions or purchase options in another country. Open the catalog while signed in to the region where you will buy or redeem the game.
Check the game page before downloading
Use the product page to confirm the platform, edition and any notes about PS5 Pro support. A cross-generation product can contain both PS4 and PS5 versions, and a physical release can have a different upgrade path from a digital listing. The badge is useful for finding candidates; the product page and the installed game’s update information are the final checks.
Why the catalog can look different from one visit to the next
The Store collection is dynamic and regional. Games can be added after launch, listings can change with a new edition or patch, and a page shown in one country may not be offered in another. There is no reliable reason to treat a static article or an old screenshot as a complete list.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →An earlier crawl of the US collection surfaced examples including Fortnite, NBA 2K25, Call of Duty, Forza Horizon 5 and Lies of P. That crawl was about 1.3 years old, so these names are illustrations of the type of listing the collection has shown—not a current, complete catalog or a guarantee that every edition remains available. Reopen the live regional collection before you buy, and verify the specific game page.
| How to use an example | What you can safely conclude | What still needs checking |
|---|---|---|
| A title appears in the live PS5 Pro Enhanced collection. | The Store currently associates that PS5 listing with the designation in your region. | The exact patch features, supported modes, edition and whether the enhancement is included in your purchase. |
| A title appears in an old list or search result. | It may have been listed at that time. | Current regional availability and the present PS5 product page. |
| A title has a PS5 version but no badge. | It is still a PS5 game. | Do not assume it has PS5 Pro-specific enhancements unless the current Store or developer documentation says so. |
How to verify what a particular game actually does
Once you have found a candidate, investigate the implementation rather than relying on the icon. Use this order:
- Read the current product description. Look for explicit references to PS5 Pro, PSSR, ray tracing, performance modes or resolution targets. If none is stated, the badge alone cannot fill in those details.
- Check the game’s update notes. Developers often describe whether an enhancement arrived in a patch, which version received it and whether a setting must be enabled.
- Open the game’s graphics or display menu. Look for labels such as quality, performance, resolution, ray tracing or refresh-rate options. Record which mode is selected by default before changing it.
- Confirm your display path. The console, television or monitor and HDMI connection must accept the output mode you select. A display limitation can prevent a high-refresh option from appearing even when the game supports it.
- Test in the situations that matter to you. Compare the game’s available modes in the same scene or save point. A mode that raises image quality may trade away frame-rate headroom, while a performance mode may lower visual settings to hold its target.
There is no consistent, Sony-published per-game matrix for image quality, frame rate, ray tracing, PSSR and default settings. Do not construct one by guessing from the badge or by transferring a mode from one title to another.
Do not confuse the badge with the PS4 image-quality setting
PS5 Pro has a separate system option called Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games. It applies to supported PS4 games running through backward compatibility; it is not a Store designation and it does not turn a PS4 title into a PS5 Pro Enhanced game.
Where to find the PS4 option
- Open Settings on the PS5.
- Select Screen and Video.
- Choose Video Output.
- Select Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games when the option is available.
Sony’s support page, How to enhance image quality for PS4 games on PS5 Pro consoles, states that the setting is available only for PS4 games played on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group. It also requires a screen that supports 2160p or 1440p output at 60 Hz. If you experience unexpected behavior, Sony advises turning the setting off.
| Question | PS5 Pro Enhanced badge | Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games |

| Where it is selected | Identified in the Store; game modes are controlled by the title. | PS5 system path: Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. |
| Requirements stated by Sony | Varies by compatible game. | CFI-7000 model-group console and a 2160p or 1440p screen at 60 Hz. |
| What happens if it is unavailable | The title may simply not have a PS5 Pro implementation in that listing. | The console or display may not meet the supported conditions; disable it if behavior is unexpected. |
Display and console considerations
The PS5 Pro Enhanced label belongs to the game, not to a television specification. You can use the game on a compatible PS5 Pro without treating a new 4K television as mandatory. However, Sony’s description of the highest-end combination—ray tracing, up-to-120-fps operation and AI-enhanced 4K output—assumes a compatible 4K display and a game that implements those features. Your screen’s resolution, refresh rate and input support determine which signal you can select and see.
For that reason, check the display before chasing a 120-fps mode. If the game offers several presets, choose based on your priority: image detail and advanced lighting, a steadier 60-fps experience, or the highest refresh rate your display can accept. The badge does not decide that trade-off for you.
Troubleshooting common problems
The PS5 Pro Enhanced banner is missing
- Use Store search for PS5 Pro and try the Collections route again; navigation can differ after a Store redesign.
- Check the account and Store region. The catalog is regional, and a listing in another country is not proof of local availability.
- Open the game’s product page directly and verify that you are viewing the PS5 version, not only a PS4 edition or a bundle component.
- Refresh the Store and check again later. The collection is maintained as a live catalog rather than a fixed one.
The game is labeled enhanced, but I cannot find a 4K, PSSR or 120-fps option
The badge does not require all of those features. Read the game’s own update notes and graphics menu; the developer may have delivered a different enhancement, selected an automatic mode, or limited the option to a particular display condition. Avoid assuming that a feature named for another enhanced game must also exist here.
Recommended Free Tools
A high-refresh option is unavailable
Confirm that the display and HDMI path accept the required refresh rate, then check the game’s performance settings. A title can support PS5 Pro enhancements without offering a 120-fps mode, and a display that cannot accept the signal will hide or disable that choice.
The PS4 image-quality setting is absent
Verify the console’s model group and display requirements. Sony limits the option to CFI-7000 model-group consoles and screens supporting 2160p or 1440p at 60 Hz. It applies only to PS4 games, so its absence on a PS5 game is expected.
The PS4 enhancement causes unexpected behavior
Return to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and turn Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games off, following Sony’s troubleshooting advice. This action affects that separate system setting, not a PS5 Pro Enhanced badge.
A practical checklist before you buy or reinstall a game
- Open your regional PlayStation Store and locate the live PS5 Pro Enhanced collection.
- Search the title and confirm that the product page includes the PS5 version and the edition you want.
- Read current developer or publisher patch notes for named features such as PSSR, ray tracing or performance modes.
- Check the game’s in-game graphics menu after installation; note which mode is default and which options are selectable.
- Match those options to your display’s resolution and refresh-rate capabilities.
- If you are playing a PS4 game, treat the system image-quality setting as a separate decision and verify the CFI-7000 and 60-Hz display requirements.
Bottom line
PS5 Pro Enhanced means a PS5 game has PS5 Pro-specific improvements, not that every game reaches the same 4K, ray-tracing or frame-rate target. Find candidates through PlayStation Store > Collections > PS5 Pro Enhanced or by searching PS5 Pro, then verify the live regional listing and the title’s own mode descriptions. Keep the separate PS4 image-quality setting—and its CFI-7000 and display requirements—out of the same category.
