Yes, PS4 games can now run locally on some Android devices through Bachata S4, an experimental ARM64 port that adapts the shadPS4 emulator. Its developers have reported controllable gameplay in several games, including Bloodborne and Sekiro, but their published compatibility snapshot classifies zero games as “Playable.” The headline-grabbing results are early, configuration-specific tests—not evidence that PS4 games generally run well on Android.
If you want to play your own PS4 library on a phone today, distinguish local emulation from Sony’s PS Remote Play. Bachata S4 attempts to run games on the Android device itself; Remote Play streams from a PS4 or PS5 console over a network.
What does “PS4 games running on Android” mean?
Bachata S4 is an experimental PlayStation 4 emulator for ARM64 Android devices. It adapts the shadPS4 core, which is primarily a desktop PS4 emulator, with additional components for running x86-64 guest code and handling Android display, audio, input, and Vulkan graphics. In this arrangement, the phone does the emulation and game processing locally; it is not streaming from a PlayStation console.

How well do the reported games run?
Bachata S4’s published 2026 snapshot lists nine tested games: six marked “In-game,” one “Menus,” and two “Boots.” None is marked “Playable.” These labels matter: reaching controllable gameplay proves that a test got beyond startup, but does not show that a game is stable, complete, or suitable for a normal playthrough.

These are results published by the Bachata S4 project, not independent or controlled comparisons of Android devices. A result on one configuration does not guarantee the same game will work on another.

There is an experimental local-emulation option, but it is not the same as Sony’s Remote Play service. Choose based on what you have and what you want to do:

Sony’s PS Remote Play overview explains the console-streaming option. It lists Android 9 or later for on-screen controls, Android 10 or later for DUALSHOCK 4 Bluetooth support, and Android 12 or later for DualSense support. Sony also lists Backbone One PlayStation Edition as compatible with Android phones running Android 10 or later. A controller is optional for phone play; compatibility depends on the route and device, and a controller does not make emulation faster.
How do you set up PS Remote Play on Android?
Remote Play is the more established route if you already have a PS4 or PS5 and want to stream its games to your phone. Sony’s PS4 setup instructions say to sign in with the same PlayStation account used on the console and recommend a high-speed connection of at least 5 Mbps, with at least 15 Mbps for the best experience.

- Check the prerequisites. Have access to a PS4 or PS5, an Android phone that meets Sony’s requirements, and a network connection. Sony recommends at least 5 Mbps and at least 15 Mbps for the best experience.
- Use the same PlayStation account. Sign in to Remote Play with the account used on the PS4, as described in Sony’s PS4 Remote Play setup instructions.
- Connect and test your controls. Start Remote Play and check the streamed game and chosen controls. On-screen controls are available on Android 9 or later; controller support depends on Android version and controller model.
- If the stream is poor, check the network. Sony identifies connection speed as a factor in the experience. Meeting the speed recommendation does not guarantee low latency or a smooth stream.
What games and files does Bachata S4 require?
Bachata S4 says it does not distribute games, firmware, decryption keys, licenses, or other copyrighted console files. Its documentation says users must provide homebrew or legally dumped software they own or are otherwise legally entitled to use. That is the project’s statement about its distribution and expected user-provided files, not a legal ruling for every jurisdiction or copying situation.
Is PS4 emulation on Android ready for everyday play?
Not on the evidence currently published by Bachata S4. Its tests show that an Android port can reach gameplay in some demanding games, which is a meaningful technical milestone. But the project’s own snapshot labels zero of its nine tested games “Playable,” and reported results differ sharply by title and configuration. Treat it as experimental software to explore, not a dependable way to play a PS4 library. If you have a console and want to play on a phone, Remote Play is the distinct streaming option; it relies on the console and a suitable network.
