For most people, a PC running PCSX2 is the more flexible way to play PS2 games today. PCSX2 is a dedicated, free, open-source emulator with published host requirements, setup documentation, and a title-by-title compatibility list. A PS5 gives you Sony’s officially supported selection of PS2 classics, plus selected PS4/PS5 remakes and remasters, but the catalog changes by region and service. A reported PS5SX2 homebrew project is a separate, unofficial option that requires a modified console and should not be confused with a normal PS5 feature.

The live PlayStation catalog is the authority for whether a particular game is available now. A list published months ago can be wrong because catalog membership, regional availability and service tiers change.
PCSX2 on a Windows, Linux or other supported PC
PCSX2 is a free, open-source PlayStation 2 emulator for personal computers. What matters on a PC
- CPU: Emulation performance is often sensitive to processor speed and architecture. A processor that meets a general requirement can still need per-game tuning.
- GPU: The graphics card affects internal resolution, enhancements and demanding effects. A stronger GPU does not eliminate CPU bottlenecks.
- Memory and storage: Follow the current PCSX2 requirements for supported operating systems and memory. Keep adequate free storage for the emulator, lawful game images and memory-card backups.

Remakes and remasters

PCSX2 is slow or uneven
