If you want one place to track games you have played, manage your backlog, review titles, and follow friends, Prysm is a current iPhone and Android app built around that mix. It is a strong match for what people mean by “Letterboxd for video games,” though that phrase describes a type of service, not one official category—and the headline’s unnamed app is not confirmed to be Prysm.

What “Letterboxd for video games” means

Letterboxd-like game trackers combine a personal catalog with a social layer: you record what you have played, keep a backlog or wish list, rate or review games, and see what other users are playing or recommending. Backloggd is one established web-first example. A January 2024 Lifehacker roundup called it the closest thing its author had found to a “Letterboxd for video games,” describing game lists, playthrough logs, reviews, and user follows. That is useful context, not a current hands-on comparison.

Prysm is another service that fits the description, with native iPhone and Android apps, game tracking, and a social feed. Its feature set is broader than a simple list: it also offers game discovery, library imports, and a way to save games found in shared video links.

How Prysm works

Track games and share activity

Prysm lets you save games under statuses such as backlog, playing, completed, and paused. Its feed supports posts about trophies, questions, memes, and reviews, as well as polls, likes, comments, reposts, and following friends. Prysm says friends, posts, polls, and the feed are not paywalled.

Save games from videos

You can share a TikTok or YouTube video link to Prysm. The app says it reads the title and caption and may inspect the video, then asks you to confirm the game it identified; the source video is kept with the game page. A Chrome extension also adds a “Save to Prysm” control on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram pages.

Prysm reports that in its own September 2026 test, 19 of 21 real gaming TikTok links returned a confident match. That is a company-reported result from a small sample, not an independent benchmark or a guarantee that a given clip will be identified correctly.

Imports, access, and privacy trade-offs

According to Prysm’s official product site, supported library imports include Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Android. The specifics differ by platform:

  • Steam: Connecting Steam can show owned games and play hours, detect sessions, warn when you reach a self-set limit, and pass through achievements.
  • PlayStation: Game and trophy imports rely on a public PSN trophy list.
  • Xbox: Imports use Microsoft sign-in.
  • Android: Prysm can find installed games.
  • Nintendo: Prysm says Nintendo imports are not supported.

Imports can save manual entry, but they involve linking accounts or exposing information such as owned games, play hours, installed titles, or trophy activity. Check the permissions requested for each connection and the account settings on the source platform before you link it. Prysm’s supported sources and import behavior are product claims and may change.

How to choose between Prysm and Backloggd

Neither app is automatically the better choice; it depends on where you want to use it and what you need to track. The available descriptions support a few practical distinctions, but they are not a hands-on product ranking.

  • Choose Prysm if native mobile access matters: Prysm says it has iPhone and Android apps. Its video-sharing flow and backlog suggestions are also relevant if you often discover games through clips or struggle to pick something from your list.
  • Consider Backloggd if a web-first service suits you: The January 2024 Lifehacker description highlights catalogs, playthrough logs, reviews, and following users. Prysm says Backloggd remains a website and that native iOS and Android apps are on its public roadmap as of September 2026; check Backloggd’s own current information before relying on that availability claim.
  • Check your friends’ habits: A social tracker is more useful when the people whose activity you want to see use it too. Look at the feed and review features, but also consider whether your friends are willing to maintain another profile.
  • Decide whether imports are worth connecting: Compare supported platforms with your actual library, then weigh the convenience against the account access and activity data involved.
  • Try the free limits against your routine: If you track more than 50 games or regularly use video sharing and backlog roulette, Prysm’s daily caps may affect whether the free tier works for you. Check the store listing for Pro pricing before subscribing.

Is Prysm the app in the headline?

The headline does not identify an app, so Prysm cannot be confirmed as the original subject. It is, however, a current match for the broader idea: it combines game lists and statuses, reviews and social activity, mobile apps, backlog discovery, and library imports. If you mainly want a catalog and community reviews, Backloggd is also relevant; if you want mobile tools and video-based game capture, Prysm’s stated features make it a closer fit.
