If you mean PROXXON, the best fit depends on the power setup and how you want to hold bits: choose the MICROMOT 60/E for onboard variable speed and collets, the 60/EF for quick bit changes across shank sizes, or the mains-powered IBS/E for a more fully equipped kit. These are different configurations, not a tested ranking; PROXXON’s published specifications do not establish one universal winner.
First, check the name and the kind of work
The available product information identifies the brand as PROXXON, not “Prox Tech.” PROXXON says its MICROMOT 60 family is intended for tasks including milling, drilling, routing, polishing, cutting, engraving, and carving, and names woodcarvers, model builders, and artists among its intended users. Specifications for the 60 family are listed on PROXXON’s US product page; IBS/E details are on its US product page. The 12 V MICROMOT 60 family and 110–120 V IBS/E are not electrically interchangeable. Verify the exact model, supply, and regional voltage before purchase.

- Fine carving or engraving: Favor a variable-speed model if you want the documented 5,000–20,000 rpm range. Choose collets when the relevant bit shank matches and a precision-oriented grip matters.
- Mixed bits and frequent changes: The 60/EF’s quick-action chuck is the convenient documented option for varying shank diameters. Check bit compatibility rather than assuming all craft bits will fit.
- Drilling, routing, or milling: These operations appear among PROXXON’s stated uses for the MICROMOT 60 family. The published material does not specify material-removal capacity or a recommended cutter for every project, so select accessories for the material and operation.
- Want accessories in the box: The IBS/E specification lists 34 bits and cutters plus six collets. Do not assume the 60/E package includes the same kit.
