Zrythm is a desktop digital audio workstation for music production, aimed at musicians and producers who want open-source audio and MIDI tools across GNU/Linux, Windows, and macOS. Its core workflow covers audio and MIDI recording, multitrack arrangement with track lanes, piano-roll editing, fades and gain adjustment, mixing, automation, chord pads, and chord-track tools. MIDI and audio import/export, automatic project backups, and undo history support a structured production workflow.
The published plans show a free Basic edition with up to 25 tracks, basic plugins, a web user manual, and access to v1.0.0. The one-time Snapshot plan is priced at £14 and adds unlimited tracks, Basic and Z Series plugins, a web and PDF manual, and access to v1.0.0 only. The Bundle plan includes unlimited tracks, Basic and Z Series plugins, web and PDF documentation, and access to all v1 and v2 releases. The Subscription plan adds access to all releases and nightly builds. The official download page displays GBP estimates for this locale, while purchases are made in Japanese Yen.
Zrythm’s strongest fit is a flexible, open-source production setup that needs third-party instruments and effects. It supports JACK/PipeWire, Windows MME, WASAPI, Core Audio/MIDI, SFZ, and SF2, alongside LV2, VST2, VST3, AU, CLAP, and JSFX formats. Group tracks, aux sends, routing, automation curves, envelopes, and LFO-based control give advanced projects room to develop. Buyers seeking a free DAW with broad plugin compatibility should consider Zrythm; workflows centered on collaboration, video sync, or noise reduction should compare alternatives instead.
