Zoom Player is a Windows media player for users who want one application for local files, streaming content, IPTV, optical playback, and media-server libraries. It supports hardware-accelerated 4K HDR video decoding, subtitle and audio-track selection, playback-speed controls, customizable playlists, metadata scraping, and adjustable skins, aspect ratios, and video rendering. Its focus is broader than a basic video player, making it a fit for Windows home-theater enthusiasts who value control over playback and interface behavior.

Pricing is based on one-time licenses rather than a free plan. Zoom Player STREAM costs $23.95 and includes streaming-only playback, a lifetime license, and free upgrades for life. Zoom Player MAX costs $59.95 and adds local and streaming playback with a lifetime license and free upgrades for life. Zoom Player MAX 1 Year costs $29.95 as a one-time purchase, includes the MAX edition, and provides one year of free upgrades. The separate STREAM and MAX editions matter: STREAM is for streaming, while MAX covers both local files and streaming content.

The product’s strongest differentiator is control across playback engines and connected media sources. Users can select DirectShow, libVLC, or Chromium engines; stream from IPTV, YouTube, Plex, Emby, and Jellyfin; and control playback through command-line, TCP/IP, WinAPI, or web remotes. It also supports AV1, H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP8, VP9, Xvid, DivX, MPEG-2, AAC, FLAC, MP3, AC3, DTS, and Opus, with SRT subtitles and a portable version. Choose Zoom Player for a customizable Windows media-center setup; choose an alternative if you need cross-platform support, a free plan, or local playback in the STREAM edition.
